Newby here !😘
I recieved a sample of Clinique’s My Happy Cookies and Kisses today and it is quite nice. It’s not very long lasting on me (nothing unusual there) but has the pleasant gourmand vanilla that I love.

My bon parfumeur 302 arrived and it's lovely. It reminds me of 4160tuesdays amber mambo 🙂

Very nice 👌

So sotd is bon parfumeur 302

Glad you like it!
Do you get the Obsession vibe?

Horological · 28/07/2022 17:19

@Chevyimpala67 lots of Bien Etre cologne on ebay but not that particular fragrance. Thanks for the idea though.

Oh that's annoying
I wo dwr of they've discontinued it?

ThreeImaginaryBoys · 28/07/2022 17:29

SOTD is Etat Libre d'Orange Putain des Palaces (sample from Tiny Fragrances). Not sure what I make of it. It's quite subtle and I'm getting a lot of cumin, but it's certainly interesting.

A fragrantica reviewer suggests Marlou Poudrextase is what this perfume is trying to be. I've ordered a sample.

dolphinsarentcommon · 28/07/2022 19:55

@FestivelyScent I'm going shopping tomorrow and plan to have a sniff. Thank you

FestivelyScent · 28/07/2022 22:52

SOTD is Kayali Vanilla 28, because I have been feeling so tired and run down and just awful and all over the place this week I need something comforting and cosy. It has turned rather chilly here this evening, and I am enjoying the cooler temps. Of course, the weather is saying it will be uncomfortablly hot tomorrow.

Hope you had a great evening @Judystilldreamsofhorses 😊

SOTN is a reapplication of Kayali Vanilla 28, for maximum comfort factor. 😴

Morning smelly friends 😘

I have to wait in for a delivery this morning. Boo.

I could be cleaning but no, I'm sat here scrolling mn 😬

Sotd will be avon lbd the dress again. So great in the mugginess.

Ds1 off to the commonwealth games for the next 3 days! Rather envious tbh.

CorneliaStreet · 29/07/2022 10:27

Mumsnet much more appealing than cleaning @Chevyimpala67.

@FestivelyScent You could also try the Kayali Vanilla 28 hand cream. It is fragrance is really long lasting and it's lovely to put on before bed so you can smell it on your hands as you go to sleep. Consistency of the cream is good too.

One thing I've discovered from testing loads of perfumes over the last few months is how much I love vanilla. All the perfumes I've liked the most so far - By the Fireplace, Vanilla 28, Olympea, Cheirosa 62 and 71 - are vanilla based.

I'm also working out what I don't like - mainly clove as it turns medicinal on me. Also not keen on patchouli (though weirdly I like the patchouli/rose combination, despite not being that keen on rose either).

I also have to be careful with jasmine - it's ok well-blended with other things but anything too jasmine dominant smells horrible to me. Savage Jasmine by Sana Jardin is the worst thing I've tried - it smells total fecal to me, though DP said it was just floral to him, so it's my nose. I've kept the sample just in case I change my mind - it's in the bottom of my wardrobe though and I'm a bit worried it's going to leak and infect my clothes. Maybe I should encase it in something, like concrete round nuclear waste. I don't want that stuff escaping!

Oh, yes the kayali vanilla hand cream is lovely 😍

Clove is a huge no no for me too...that's why the pp dupe pf mmm btf is better for me. The drydown on the original is very clovey (yes, I've decided that's a word!)

Jasmine I find ok in small doses (good job as ALL perfumes seem to use it atm...)

I hate waiting for deliveries. Grr.

Cantonet · 28/07/2022 15:18

Sotd is Miller Harris Fleur du Matin. Very Citrussy & herbal. I'm on project finish bottle at the moment. So far I've finished Hermes Pamplemousse Rose & very nearly the current one. Anything to reduce Fragantica Numbers!
I've definitely fallen a little out of love with perfumes. I think joining some Facebook perfume groups where some are absolutely obsessed ( and spend so much money ) has actually made me go the other way strangely.

I know what you mean.

I feel the same way.

CorneliaStreet · 29/07/2022 11:48

@Chevyimpala67 Noses are so different! I don't get any clove at all in the dry down of By the Fireplace, either the original or the PP version, just smoky vanilla.

Tobacco Vanille smells really medicinal to me though. I also tried JM Pomegranate Noir and clove is pretty much all I could smell (and of course, that was the one JM which lasted all day).

AKnitterofThings · 29/07/2022 12:02

SOTD for me is Chanel no.19. I am trying to use it up. I like it, but it doesn’t last on me. It was an impulse purchase last year as I wore it in my 20’s (years ago now!)
I would love a perfect vanilla and a perfect rose perume. I wore Body Shop vanilla for years and then Lush Vanillary both now are not as good.

FestivelyScent · 29/07/2022 12:04

I hate waiting in for things too @Chevyimpala67 I'm always thinking of all the things I could be doing and getting fidgety.

Will look out for the Kayali Vanilla hand cream @CorneliaStreet - it sounds lovely. 😊

I don't get much clove myself from By the Fireplace - and the vanilla is not so very pronounced either, it's mainly smokey wood and incense on me.

I do love clove though and all spices really except cumin, and that medicinal rub smell.

I love Tobacco Vanille too, and was only thinking yesterday I might get the pp dupe for autumn. It smells like tea and fruit cake to me. 😁

FestivelyScent · 29/07/2022 12:12

My post was meant to read: I do like that medicinal rub smell.

Chanel No 19 doesn't last so long on me either @AKnitterofThings - although I do like it, so just spray quite generously, which improves things a bit.

Have you tried Kayali Vanilla 28? It's becoming a thread favourite thanks to @Chevyimpala67 who introduced it to us all. 😊

Has anyone else ever tried any of the Olivia Blake fragrances? The packaging looks very Jo Malone rip off. I bought one of them yesterday in TK Maxx because I liked the description (Tangerine and Patchouli) and I was scolding myself the whole way home for buying something I hadn't smelled and was probably awful etc.

Tried it last night and I'm so impressed, I've never had a perfume last this long on me, I sprayed it at light 7pm last night, was still on my skin when I was going to bed at 1am and I can still smell it on the clothes I was wearing yesterday. Its very masculine, it really reminds me of Hugo Boss but I like it.

Can't find anything about the other perfumes in the range on fragrantica or anywhere else and I assume if theres very little online and they're in TKMaxx for less than a tenner that the brand is defunct. The other scents they had were Blue Agave & Lotus, Limeblossom & Basil and Juniper & Cypress. Wish TKMaxx had testers, I'm so impressed by the first one I've bought I'm tempted to splash out and buy the others but don't want to waste money either. Hoping someone else has smelled these and can tell me if they live up to the tangerine and patchouli

Try kayali vanilla or vanilla fields

Just got my CK contradiction...

It's lovely! But I sprayed it about half an hour ago and can barely smell it now ☹️

Chevyimpala67 · 29/07/2022 13:32

Sorry , no idea why your post got quoted

miri1985 · 29/07/2022 13:44

@Horological found it but on places that won't post to the UK.

L'Herboriste seems to have come in several different fragrances (and be discontinued now), I found it in citrus scent on amazon.fr (you have to set your delivery place to france to see that its in stock) and in almond on ebay.fr

The only place I've been able to find the fig L'Herboriste is on a dutch site can't guarantee the site is legit but there is a facebook for the bricks and mortar of the shop so might be worth a punt if you know someone in the Netherlands or if you can convince the shop to post it to you in the UK

CorneliaStreet · 29/07/2022 13:50

My Escentual blind perfume trial box has arrived. It's quite fun - you get 8 samples (look like 2ml) and smelling strips and a QR code to scan which lets you into a Facebook group. They then reveal what the perfumes are on Facebook/email at the end of the month. You also get credit against the price of the box to spend on anything else on the site.

They are all almond scents this month. DP and DD have both chosen sample D as their favourite, which I think might be Girl of Now by Elie Saab as it smells very familiar. No idea about any of the others.

ThreeImaginaryBoys · 29/07/2022 14:02

SOTD is Clinique Happy, inspired by someone upthread talking about citrus fragrances.

My bottle must be 20 years old. It's lost a bit of its crispness and was a bit syrupy/sherry-like when I first sprayed it. But it's still got that uplifting, summery feel and is perfect for today!

ThreeImaginaryBoys · 29/07/2022 14:07

@FestivelyScent @Chevyimpala67 @CorneliaStreet really interesting what you say about vanilla. I've always hated vanilla in perfume (sorry!) because it makes me feel nauseous. But I've found that if it's matched by something smoky (like in By The Fireplace) or balanced out with amber then I don't mind it. I just have to be careful that I'm not left with a dry down that leaves me smelling like an ice cream!

Horological · 29/07/2022 14:44

@miri1985 wow, thanks for the detective work! I have ordered it (Bien Etre L'Herboriste) from Amazon fr and it should be delivered next week!

It will be great to have that fragrance but it's not the cologne, it's spray parfum and quite a bit more expensive. The joy of what I bought a few years ago was finding a supermarket cologne (good for post shower splashing all over)in a nicely designed big bottle with a great fragrance and super cheap. It looks like it doesn't exist any more. Shame.
