Hello fragrant friends,

This is edition 33 (!) of the long running perfumista threads.

Newbies most definitely welcome. Come and discuss your Scent Of The Day (SOTD), old favourites, new infatuations, the best dupes and scents of any price point. We are very friendly! 😊

Mitsouko is one of my autumn favourites! Not tried Nahema, but that's only because rose (esp fruity rose) and I have a difficult relationship. I just have a feeling I probably won't like it, but will definitely test next time I'm near a big London dept store.

Had an unexpectedly busy and tiring day, so will begin sniffing tomorrow.

Isn't the packaging delightful @Jadoube And free smelling strips! 😊
Skin chemistry is such a difficult thing, it's so frustrating when a perfume that smells perfect on a strip, just seems to shape shift into something unexpected on skin.

@Chevyimpala67 I tried No5 at night a few weeks ago and it smelled predominantly like handsoap to me - I just thought meh, nothing special, and went to bed. I awoke in the night to this terrible smell - my pyjamas stank like wee! I slept terribly that night. 🤢😂

I do love other Chanels though, especially Coco (my fave Chanel) and No19.

SOTN is also Vanilla 28.

@Stokey I don't have any suggestions for a jasmine soliflore, but have you tried Samsara (it was my SOTD!)? It has a huge jasmine and ylang middle, resting on a powdery sandalwood base

Try Le Jardin Retrouve Jasmin Majorelle. Absolutely gorgeous! Samples are refunded too.

I like next eau nude which is supposed to be a dupe of chanel coco (although I didn't know that when I bought it)

SOTD is Acqua di Palma Fico di Amalfi. Got it as a free sample when I bought something else. It's a really lovely fig/citrus/woody scent, very much unisex I would say. A lot of the reviews on Fragrantica say the longevity is poor though but it's lasting ok on me so far.

I haven't smelled Chanel No. 5 since my old boss bought it for me for my 30th birthday - when he gave it to me he told me his wife had told him off for buying a 30 year old that rather than Chance or something. I just remember it being really powdery on me, like I'd covered myself in talc. I think I binned it.

@FestivelyScent I used to work with a woman who always wore Chanel No. 5 and smelt amazing and sophisticated.

On me? Stale cat pee :(
There's definitely something 'uriney' in there!

Sotd kayali vanilla

I've layered my campfire marshmallow body creme with the kayali vanilla and imo I smell positively edible 😋 😅

@CorneliaStreet Isn't it wonderful how perfumes smell different on everyone. In my mind, talc is quite a clean smell, but on me No5 smelled exactly as though I'd not made it to the bathroom in time. I couldn't have smelled more soiled if I'd tried. It was quite a distressing night. 😂

@ThreeImaginaryBoys You see, this is the thing for me too. No5 smells great on others - people on the street, at the GP surgery, on the bus etc - just not on me. I really love powdery fragrances, so I thought No5 would be a sure thing; it surprised me a little when it wasn't.

SOTN is Original Fendi, which is a rose I do like. It smells deep and rich to me - like being swathed in spiced red velvet. Probably a bit much for summer - it would shine magnificently in autumn I think - but I am enjoying myself immensely.

Chanel No 5 smells awful on me as well. I just don't like it. On my mother it smells amazing, very sophisticated. On me it's actually unpleasant. Chanel No 19, on the other hand, smells wonderful on me but very sharp on her.

SOTD JHAG Musc Invisible.

Wonderful thread! My sotd is mimosa pour moi by l'Artisan pafumeur sadly no longer available. Thank you for the tiny samples tip.

SOTN is Sol de Janiero Cheirosa 71. I’m a bit obsessed with this one at the moment. I’ve been spraying it on my pillow each night so I go to sleep in a comforting, biscuity haze.

I love Chanel No 5, I’ve worn it since I was 18 (a gift from a relative). I don’t know if it smells good on me to other people, except OH who likes it, and I really like it.

I’ve added some other Chanel perfumes to my collection, which I sometimes prefer more (Gardenia and Chance) but No 5 will always smell good to me.

SOTD Chanel No 5 - why not :)

Enjoy your day with Chanel No. 5 @Mrcpy! Scents smell so different on different people and No. 5 obviously smells good on a lot of people, or it wouldn't still be so popular.

SOTD is Molton Brown Delicious Rhubarb & Rose. "Overly Sweet" Rhubarb & Rose would be a more accurate name in my opinion.

If anyone's interested in the Escentual blind perfume trial thing, the August box is out today. The note this month is almond.

I mentioned on another post that I finally got the Dior Hypnotic Poison I wanted. Everytime I passed it in a shop I meant to get it. I got it in Boots and when the person asked if I wanted to pay in points I nearly jumped up and kissed them! That saved me £52!!! I am not used to having lots of points on my card!

However, todays smellie is Penhaligon's Endymion as I have a small tester of it in my bag and I was rushing to work this morning.

Hello...I'm a bit of a lurker on here but have you to thank for A couple of new ones

As a citrus lover I've tried recommendations for Yardley Jade, which is indeed very Chanel Cristalle, and Lancôme 'O' which is also lovely but I fear discontinued. I had a real job finding any anywhere.

My other favourites are Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Bergamot Calabria and the Mandarine Basilica.

I'd love to try more but as some said samples are hard to come by. There's a seller on Etsy that has some but I've not ordered any.

@Deathraystare I just saw your post on the other thread. Yes, the Fahrenheit for men. I have the Parfum version - it smells to me like fresh violets, and a sort of suede-y/leathery lightly spiced and incensed vanilla.
