Hello fragrant friends,

This is edition 33 (!) of the long running perfumista threads.

Newbies most definitely welcome. Come and discuss your Scent Of The Day (SOTD), old favourites, new infatuations, the best dupes and scents of any price point. We are very friendly! 😊

Thank you for the new thread FestivelyScent.
SOTD Wild Vanilla Orchid - Floral St

I forgot a SOTD this morning before a trip to town, so headed into the local department store for a spray of a tester. Decided on Maison Margiela Untitled and ended up loving it so much I've just ordered a bottle.

FestivelyScent · 24/07/2022 23:35

Sounds like it was meant to be @DramaAlpaca 😊

SOTN is Ambre Orient.

Hi all, newbie here! I’m optimistic my Mitsouko sample will arrive today…fingers crossed!

Stokey · 25/07/2022 08:44

Hello, I used to follow this thread years ago but then started getting migraines and had to stop using perfume for a bit. They seem to be under control now so I'm back. I'd love a recommendation for a nice Jasmine scent. I recently tried Jasmine Absolute by Ostens which is gorgeous but fades very quickly.

SOTD is Synthetic Jungle by Frederick Malle.

CorneliaStreet · 25/07/2022 09:14

Thanks for the new thread @FestivelyScent.

SOTD is Tommy Girl. I've been really enjoying wearing this one again after not having it for many, many years. I like that it's fresh and clean but not in a soapy or an overly citrus way. It's been perfect in the hot weather recently.

Oh, I hate it when that happens!
I have a purse spray of abon lbd in my handbag for just such occasions :)

No idea what sotd will be yet...its mercifully not as hot and muggy as yesterday.

Hello, does anyone have any recommendations for a real orange scent? I have bought countless orange blossom, and 'zingy fresh' citrus scents but I am looking for a scent that just smells like sniffing actual oranges

I second the suggestion of Atelier Cologne's Orange Sanguine. The opening smells as if you've just cut into an orange.

James Heeley's Oranges and Lemons Say The Bells of St. Clements is also a gorgeous fresh citrus.

Chevyimpala67 · 25/07/2022 09:48

Sotd S&B white peaches 🍑

SOTD: Emporio Armani She
This was a gift from about 5 years ago. Found it in the back of the bathroom cabinet. I like it!

FestivelyScent · 25/07/2022 12:16

My samples have arrived! I'd been eagerly watching for the postman all morning. 😁 I ordered from a company I've not tried (or heard of) before called Tiny Fragrances and they came very sweetly packaged in a pouch, a smart box and with free smelling strips!

No time to test just now, but very excited to give them all a thorough sniff later - I plumped for:

L'air du Desert Marocain - Tauer
Au Coeur du Desert - Tauer (to compare with LADDM)
Lonestar Memories - Tauer
L'heure Bleue - Guerlain

And a small amount of Mitsouko as I don't want to spring for a FB just yet.

Exciting @FestivelyScent!

Do you mind me asking where you got the Guerlain samples from? I've been looking for somewhere to order some.

L'Heure Bleue is one of my all time favourites. It's lovely.

I'm a sucker for vintage Guerlain. Do you like Nahema? I think it's one of the most beautiful perfumes I've ever worn. Although it can be a bit hard to get hold of these days.

I think I have found my fragrant tribe ... :)

ThreeImaginaryBoys · 25/07/2022 13:29

Anyone on here use Perfumado? I subscribed but they kept sending the wrong samples. They've rectified and I'm not sure if I was just unlucky or they're always crap!

MissBattleaxe · 25/07/2022 14:07

Hi everyone! Great to see new thread. I've been trying the new Avon perfume lately for the blog. It's called Avon Far Away Splendoria and surprisingly it has oud in it, despite being a summer launch. It's "white oud" and not as intense as normal oud, but it does pack a punch. My Mum loved it. She likes the heavy hitters.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 25/07/2022 14:54

SOTD MMM Untitled.

FestivelyScent · 25/07/2022 18:33

Guerlain samples are so hard to find! @CorneliaStreet I ordered mine from Tiny Fragrances - they seemed to have a good selection. The only other site I found was Scent Samples UK, but they only had about three fragrances to choose from.

I love Guerlain @ThreeImaginaryBoys I've not tried L'heure Bleue before, but have heard many good things about it. I really love powdery fragrances so I'm quite excited to test it. 😊

DramaAlpaca · 25/07/2022 18:53

Another Guerlain fan here. Mitsouko is my favourite fragrance of all time, I think, closely followed by Shalimar. @ThreeImaginaryBoys I'm finding that Nahema is growing on me. It was a hard no on first sniff but I kept being drawn back to it. L'Heure Bleue is a beautiful fragrance too, very powdery indeed.

I bought my samples from a supplier in the US, can't remember their name now.

SOTD is Pear Inc.

Chevyimpala67 · 25/07/2022 18:59

I feel like a fake perfumista sometimes 😬
I don't really like any guerlains (or Chanels).
It's the guerlinade base I think.
Sote kayali vanilla

musicmum75 · 25/07/2022 19:33

Hello everyone! Thanks for the new thread 😊.

Sotd is Bottega Veneta Illusione.

musicmum75 · 25/07/2022 19:34

@Beetlewings I second the suggestion of The Orange Tree from 4160 Tuesdays.

Alienbigcat45 · 25/07/2022 21:17

SOTD Jimmy Choo

Love Nahema too, Notino has it stock if anyone is looking.

Jadoube · 25/07/2022 21:20

@FestivelyScent my Mitsuoko sample from Tiny Fragrances also arrived today! I thought the packaging was a lovely touch. It’s not playing terribly nicely with my skin alas - there’s an alarming Pledge note coming through!

Spaceprincess · 25/07/2022 21:56

Hi everyone, loving seeing what you all are wearing.
My SOTD was Soleil Blanc
@Jadoube I always thought Mitsuoko smelled like old drawers or wardrobes on me somehow...but yeh Pledge!

Yep...definitely get a lemon pledge vibe from it! (I get similar from eau de hadrien too...)

All guerlains turn very sour on my skin, sadly, and chanel no 5 smells like nothing other than a faint whiff of cat pee 🤷‍♀️
