@Serenster thank you. Such vibrant colours.

Some pics of the cousins here. Birgitte looking as elegant as ever

I was hoping it might get Camilla out of the cream/ivory/duck egg blue, but I suppose Charles has to be more visible.

I can see Charles and Cams doing a bit of matchy outfits, her in a colour/pattern and him with a toning look. No idea why but that's my gut feeling

Serenster · 11/09/2022 09:40

Camilla should be wearing the George IV state diadem to the Coronation (well, I certainly hope do!). George IV wore it himself, but no other Kings since have 😀

Camilla certainly has the hair to carry off that tiara!

Watching the Queen’s coffin being driven through Scotland is deeply moving. What a beautiful first leg of her final journey, it’s no wonder she loved being there so much.

Hels20 · 11/09/2022 10:36

@paradyning - where did you see those photos? I haven’t seen any photos of the cousins but expected to. Where have they paid their respects?

Thought both Kate and Meghan looked beautiful and elegant yesterday.

NiqueNique · 11/09/2022 10:40

They went to church.

I confess I read the Daily Mail specifically for Royal news/photos as it’s usually the site that has the most coverage.

NiqueNique · 11/09/2022 10:41

Lovely photos of the Bhutanese Royal Family paying their respects.

They were at the privy council thing yesterday. Pics were posted to a random Fb site

NiqueNique · 11/09/2022 11:22

Ah did I get confused? Maybe I’m thinking of the memorial service where other family members gathered? I think? Or were the photos I saw of Prince Michael and others also from the Proclamation? Sigh. I need to stop commenting without checking first!

MotherofPearl · 11/09/2022 11:40

Leti and Felipe have visited the British ambassador to Spain to sign the book of condolence. Leti very elegant as usual.

It will be interesting to see which of the European royals attend HMQ's funeral. I am expecting pretty much all of them?

MotherofPearl · 11/09/2022 11:40

Photos would help!

Yes, all royalty, heads of Commonwealth and other nations. It's a state occasion.
Sweet that Felipe and Leti addressed her as "Dear Aunt Lilibet".

Leti looking elegant as ever.
For me, nothing topped how beautiful Kate looked with her veil at Philip's funeral.
I've just seen the footage of Lady Louise with her mum outside the palace. Bless her, she looked as if she was fighting back tears. I love her curly hairstyle.

@Eaumyword I agree. Beautiful, elegant, regal and entirely fitting for the occasion. It was a moment where she absolutely looked made for the role of future Queen.

The Princess of Wales has evolved markedly in the last couple of years, both in terms of sartorial choices and in terms of her public persona - leaning into her role I suppose. Now her status has changed and we will see further development.

I would not want to be the person responsible for security at the funeral - it'll be a nightmare!

@Blondbombsite There were pictures of the church service at the link @justasking111 posted.

I wonder if the Belgian royals feel a bit awkward at Delphine showing up for everything?

I’m obsessed with Delphine 😂 her daughter looks a lot like Crown Princess Elisabeth. How weird must it be for them? Do they have the Prince/Princess titles as well?

KillingMeDeftly · 11/09/2022 14:19

According Wikipedia they do, @CliffsofMohair. Acknowledging Delphine is one thing but I don't know why she's also been given a title or why she wants to take on royal duties.

chesterelly1 · 11/09/2022 18:11

Well I watched the cortège as it passed our town on way to Edinburgh. So glad I did. Just a brief moment but so poignant. And the seeing number of police involved for that, the security required for everything else makes the mind boggle.

hopeishere · 11/09/2022 18:40

I've always thought of Anne as very stoic and sensible but grief is just etched all over her. So sad.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 11/09/2022 18:59

It's nice (if true & which I hope it is) to see that Angela Kelly has been allowed to stay on at her grace & favour home in Windsor

Maireas · 11/09/2022 19:15

I'm glad that HM remembered to take care of her loyal friend. How strange it must be for Angela, they worked so closely and obviously had a great bond.

OP posts:
NiqueNique · 11/09/2022 19:42

Yes, they were by all accounts very good friends and it’s lovely of HM to have taken care of her that way.

(The ramped up batshittery elsewhere is really doing my head in. So disrespectful and undignified.😔 So I’ve come here to retreat from the madness.)

What lovely weather today for the first leg of HM’s journey. Really made the drive through that glorious countryside particularly beautiful.

The horses and riders, and the tractors lined up along the cortège route was very touching. And all the people paying their respects.
