Dress

I kinda love it but appreciate that many might think it's heinous 🤣. Have seen it on a few people on Instagram and it looks lovely. Cotton as well.

Have bought and will try on but it could go either way.

I was a bit in love with the fabric of these trousers, so I think the sainsbury's one is lovely too (and quite bit cheaper).

Sisisimone · 06/05/2022 22:57

Holy Fucking Shit. I dont think I've ever seen a dress that's so hideous 😱

OfHardy · 06/05/2022 23:43

That looks like a dress made out of an autumnal table cloth. Like for thanksgiving dinner, but not someone who is 'aesthetic' by Pinterest standards. 😂

Riverlee · 07/05/2022 05:45

I was just perusing the Joanie clothes website and spotted these, so there are options available for those unable to buy the Sainsbury one (although not as cheap ), or like the pattern but not the dress shape.

Also this dress.

That’s a really good find @Riverlee , thanks for sharing. I really like the ones with the darker background.

LowbrowVictoriana · 07/05/2022 12:34

Well mine arrived this morning (amazing, given that I only ordered in Thursday night and didn't pay for speedy delivery) and I love it!

I'm not young, slim, tanned, long-limbed or any of the other things that some thought would be a prerequisite to wearing or suiting this dress... I'm 53 and chubby and I think it suits me well!

It's longer and doesn't billow as much as the pics suggest, and the colours are much more vibrant 'in the flesh'. The fabric also has a bit of texture to the weave making it all the more authentically Granny's curtains-like! I may upload a pic later if I can be bothered.

Don't buy it yet, it'll be half price in the sale

No way! Half of the sizes are already sold out!

averythinline · 07/05/2022 12:45

I too got childhood flashbacks am sure we had bedding /sleeping bag or something in this fabric - also reminde me of a favourite kids book though

www.amazon.co.uk/Rosies-Walk-Pat-Hutchins/dp/1862309981

the colours wouldnt suit me and being large up top thing shirring doesnt look good... but it makes me smile - i wonder if they have used it in anything else....

EmmaStone · 07/05/2022 17:29

I like the style, but couldn't pull off the pattern (plus those colours would make me look dead). I think styled right, it would look amazing.

notawittyname1954 · 07/05/2022 17:59

@Omgwhatthehell I really hope you like it when it arrives. please let me know

Chewchewaboogiw · 07/05/2022 18:11

I love it ! Live the print and the neckline. Mostly dress with at least a nod to vintage tho( 50s , 60s 70s)

Soulstirring · 07/05/2022 18:13

Love it! I just purchased some white miles from new look that would look amazing with it!

Soulstirring · 07/05/2022 18:14

Mules!

bippityboppity87 · 07/05/2022 18:21

Nay. It might look ok with the right belt to give it some shape

ringoutthebells · 07/05/2022 18:37

Nay. I'm sure there's someone out there it would look good on (tanned and very slender?) but it certainly wouldn't be me 😉

RitaFaircloughsWig · 07/05/2022 23:50

I bought this dress but wasn't keen when I tried it on - fabric too cheap and too sticky out in the wrong places so took it back. I bought it because I had a dress with almost identical fabric in 1970.

Which mules?

Omgwhatthehell · 10/05/2022 16:03

@notawittyname1954 I picked mine up today and I'm gutted it makes me look enormous! So it'll have to go back, which I'm really sad about because I absolutely love the print and almost cheese-clothy material, plus the fact it is lined.
Unfortunately I think it sticks out too much underneath the bottom of the bust from all angles, including the back and sides, so it makes me look much bigger than I am. And is a bit small on my huge pregnancy boobs.
It might be better on someone a different shape, but I'm small and curvy. I think I need to stick to fitted jersey styles while I'm pregnant otherwise I can look huge!

CockleburIck · 10/05/2022 16:11

That's a pity @Omgwhatthehell ! I got mine a few days ago and I love it! It doesn't stick out too much... maybe because I got one two sizes smaller than my usual size (that and next one down were out of stock) and I am modest of nork.
I can't wait to wear it.🏵️🌻🌼🍂

Omgwhatthehell · 10/05/2022 16:43

I am jealous @CockleburIck !
Unfortunately I was already quite nork-y before I got pregnant and now they are really quite sizeable. Mine looked a bit stretched over the chest already so I wouldn't be able to size down.
Shame because at least it was voluminous enough to fit the bump.

notawittyname1954 · 10/05/2022 16:49

@Omgwhatthehell I am sorry about that. Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well. xxx

Omgwhatthehell · 10/05/2022 19:32

Thanks @notawittyname1954 It was worth a try. Such a shame because I absolutely love the print.

BigSkies2022 · 10/05/2022 20:41

If it were a halter neck and fitted I would go for that print (although I might struggle with my pale sikin) but the print, plus the puff sleeves, and the gathers - well, that is a very brave choice, minister.

HeatherShiver · 10/05/2022 21:46

@PorkySisyphus ty for sharing I bought The Dress!
I sized down and I love it despite being short, size 12 and mostly tits & tummy.
I will take a picture tomorrow , my love for it is partly due to the 70s wallpaper vibe and neckline.

Most things look a bit maternity on me ha
