@missfliss thank you, and I’m sorry you’re having a hard time too 💐 I didn’t know that about oestrogen! It’s fascinating and very annoying. Despite having had lots of signs and symptoms for the past couple of years I’ve only recently realised that it’s peri menopause (the weight gain despite me doing nothing differently was the nail in the coffin for me. I’ve gone from a size 8, maybe even 6, to an almost 14. Anyway I’m going to stop derailing this thread but thanks again! Your tips are brilliant and I’m going to take heed.

@Sooverthemill I looked and they are gorgeous. I think they’re worth it. I wouldn’t mention the cost to dh either though 😂 It might have to be a next summer purchase for me, I’ve already bought bostons this year (which I love)!

Nice day in east central scotland. There’s football on - apparently - so popping out to avoid the shouting… Feeling quite muted, tired and needing a rest today! Jumpsuit from Great Plains and boots from Schuh

Interesting to read peri menopause experiences. I'm only 43 but since developing Hashimoto's 2 years ago I have been experiencing a lot of symptoms that seem very peri as well as very irregular periods but not sure if it's true peri menopause or my thyroid causing the issues. Thyroid has never really been aggressively treated (TSH never below 4) as my GP is nervous about a heart condition that I have (frustrating because that's completely sorted at the moment and not an issue, and I am married to a cardiologist so I can say that with confidence!).
I have started to put weight on around my middle, particularly around my lower tummy which is frustrating as I have actually never been fitter than I am now.
Blood tests for menopause are apparently 'borderline' whatever that means but getting a GP to actually discuss it in detail is impossible. I feel like I've been left in limbo in regards to this for the last year at least. How do you manage to get GP's to take symptoms seriously and not dismiss? I just keep getting told to 'wait and see' how I am in a few more months. Interested to hear experiences.
Anyway- it's beautiful here. Warm and sunny. Heading down to the sea soon for a swim but currently lazing in the garden soaking up some sun. We are off out for dinner tonight to celebrate my eldest sons 20th birthday.

Hi @EllaPaella I’m sorry you’re maybe going through it too. It’s incredibly frustrating trying to get a GP to take it seriously. My next step is a private women’s clinic specialising in menopause I think! I hope you can get some good advice soon. The weight gain, particularly around the middle has been so fast for me. It’s very upsetting! I rarely exceed 1500 calories a day, I walk between 8-10km a day and I’ve just recently started hula hooping in the evenings like a maniac 😂 I’m going to cut out carbs next, as @missfliss suggested. I’m only 38 by the way but have a family history of early menopause. Anyway! I hope you enjoyed your swim!

Everyone is looking lovely and @Sickoffamilydrama that is a really nice view!

Ugh MN won't let me post anything via the app at the moment..top notch upgrade eh!

OH and I are off to a 50th this evening, planning on only being out for a couple of hours as I'm knackered so driving.

Wearing my Hush Floriza skirt for the first time, with an old band t-shirt and black Converse.

Thanks for the new thread @EllaPaella ..I'm sceptical as to whether this will actually post but will have a go!

Lovely outfits everyone..hope you are all enjoying the sunshine!

@IvorCutler and @EllaPaella I’ve been on the list for the Newson clinic for some time. I’m a little different though as I have endometriosis and adenomyosis. I’ve struggled with menopausal symptoms since the age of 38 (5 years ago). Fortunately I have an appointment with a private gynaecologist this week as we have decided to have treatment through our health insurance. They’ve been unable to treat the menopause due to endo and I’ve had all treatments available for that. I’ve been on the list for a hysterectomy. I understand about being in limbo.

some lovely outfits. I love that dress @EllaPaella and I love the red dress on you @Sickoffamilydrama
@Sooverthemill I only threw some Birkenstock’s out the other day. I’d had for a few years and they had gone a funny colour.

Softpebbles · 07/05/2022 21:49

Couple of outfit pics. Tonight jeans, new look jacket and Nike blazers. Out for pizza. Had strong girls club T-shirt.

yesterday out for a few afternoon drinks. Black jersey midi dress - ASOS, converse high tops and Tommy H denim jacket.

Spent a good chunk of today in neoprene!

@Softpebbles it sucks! I had a load of scans a few years ago due to pelvic pain and a whole load other symptoms and was told I have adhesions (I've had 3 sections) so I'm pretty sure that isn't helping in my myriad of symptoms. Where is the Newson clinic?

@EllaPaella
www.newsonhealth.co.uk
Louise Newson aka as the menopause doctor. It really does suck. I try and keep as active and healthy as possibly and sometimes I’m just floored. Fingers crossed, selfishly, the end is in sight for me. I have tried so many different things over the past few years! Most of them sent my mood into a massive downward spiral.

I’m hoping to get my sandals out next week ☀️

toastfiend · 07/05/2022 23:31

Love your dungarees, @Sooverthemill, your outfit with the blazer @Sickoffamilydrama, your dresses @Softpebbles and @EllaPaella, your jumpsuits @Purplecatshopaholic and @Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123, and you look amazing in the Floriza skirt @Davethecat2001!

Will go back and properly catch up. Thanks for the new thread, EllaPaella!

Couple of my outfits this week:

Wednesday, went to an agricultural event for work:
Blazer - Great Plains
Jeans - River Island, via eBay
Belt - not sure, bought at a County show years ago
T-shirt - H&M
Boots - Fairfax & Favor

You inspired me to wear my cashmere jumper, EllaPaella, as the breeze is still chilly but I'm getting too hot in regular jumpers. It's so lightweight, I actually maintained a comfortable temperature all day for once!

Today -
Jeans- Agolde
Cashmere jumper - Pure (bought new with tags from a 2nd hand shop for an absolute bargain)
Sandals - H&M
Belt - Levi's, super old and given to me by a friend

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the sunshine!

@Softpebbles love your outfits and is that a lovely Mulberry bag I see?

EllaPaella · 08/05/2022 08:39

Lovely outfits @toastfiend, yes cashmere is perfect for this time of year isn't it? Those days when the breeze is a bit chilly bit it's otherwise quite mild.
I was also admiring softpebbles's 👌
