When was the last time you felt this, what for?
I can't help but feel like fashion was better 5-10 years ago. I cant remember the last time I felt strongly about purchasing something.
(I'm talking going out tops/bags/shoes/ jeans/ dresses... everything basically). I don't even know which shops to shop in now.. help a girl out?

What are your favourite recent purchases?

I saw this DKNY dress in TKMaxx, had to have it! Love all the tiered dresses around at the moment.

Do know what you mean though, a lot of things I buy I end up taking back because I already have similar and nicer at home...

OMG I have to buy that!

“OMG I have to buy that!” - Pretty much every time I scroll through a few clothing sites, which happens a good few times a week. But I actually buy very little. Usually screenshot anything gorgeous and ponder over it for a while.

I like clothes at the moment. I like the variety and the breadth of choice and the apparent efforts towards ethical and environmental improvement.

Favourite recent purchase was a The Elder Statesman knitted camisole, massively reduced in the sales. Possibly Matches Fashion, not sure. And a skirt from Zara. Oh, and some rather disappointing Grenson boots, which I couldn’t be bothered to send back.

Before Christmas last year, I saw a pink and red cardigan in Jigsaw and couldn't stop thinking about it. It's so not me to wear any colour, I've worn mostly black for 40 years. Eventually I bought it and I love it. Don't wear it often but every time I put it on I feel good.

IEatChocolateForBreakfast · 04/04/2022 22:12

At least 3-4 times a month Blush

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 04/04/2022 22:26

I bought a dress via Instagram because it was so cute and I had to have it. Turned out, in real life, it was absolutely bloody awful! Grin

PoshPyjamas · 04/04/2022 22:38

A pair of dungarees from Toast. I have been looking for perfect dungarees for a little while - both flattering and comfortable. These are both. Perfect. TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN FUCKING POUNDS. On my credit card.

Greyhare · 05/04/2022 00:29

Last thing was bright green suede Birkenstock Kyotos I love them, they make me smile, which is a good thing although my DM and DH think they are repellent www.birkenstock.com/gb/kyoto-nubuck%2Fsuede-leather/kyoto-suede-nubucksuedeleather-0-eva-u_1983.html?dwvar_kyoto-suede-nubucksuedeleather-0-eva-u__1983_color=1983 they look brighter in real life

Silver leather vejas. Couldn't walk past them without buying.

GettingStuffed · 05/04/2022 02:37

Scholl gold brogues, I usually avoid brogues due to the stiff heel but these are soft.

BlueSummerBaby · 05/04/2022 02:43

Every time I look! But I don't always buy. I like lots of different styles and I love how modern fashion reflects this and just about anything is ok, even if it's not cutting edge fashion.

HerRoyalNotness · 05/04/2022 03:45

Nothing lately. I’m looking now as I’m starting work again soon after 7 years! Can’t see anything I like. Will have to try on some stuff from my wardrobe and see if it fits. If I wasn’t 20lbs overweight I might be more enthusiastic about things I’ve seen.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 05/04/2022 04:14

An extremely pretty teal coloured floral dress in an independent shop a couple of weeks ago. I wore it to my Mother's Day lunch.

It's the first thing I've worn in ages I actually felt pretty in. I feel good in other things in other ways - comfy, smart, appropriate, etc - but not pretty.

Ooh I love those but I don’t need them. I don’t, I dont, I don’t….
Everydaydayisaschoolday · 05/04/2022 10:09

These. Completely impractical but I love them so much and feel like a princess when I wear them.

OMG I have to buy that!
LookdeepintotheParka · 05/04/2022 10:27

I only ever get this with a perfume or beauty products!! I'm currently desperate for a bottle of either Delina or Halfeti but can't afford either of them Grin

Can't remember the last time I loved an item of clothing - I'm endlessly looking for something I like, that fits and is vaguely affordable Hmm

Investment piece, your “cost per wear” will end up being minuscule.

I have £80 dresses I have worn once..

Greyhare · 05/04/2022 10:33

@Thinkle You don't need them but your life would be more colourful with them and they are incredibly comfy Grin

Allthesefolks · 05/04/2022 10:41

A couple of tops from Hush as they’re exactly the sort of thing I like and the perfect colour, never been into Hush before and still find a lot of it too pastel/frilly/flowery but now I’m almost 40 it seems to be inevitable and I’m a sucker for leopard print:

I really want these trainers but have just bought a pair of Vans:

High street stuff not so much.

There’s a lovely local boutique and she often buys in one off vintage pieces which I often buy. I’ve bought an old jigsaw blazer there, a rattan/tapestry bag, light orange pretty 80s cardigan.

There’s also a nice vintage seller I know in person who has homeware but does fashion too. Last fashion item I got from her was a lovely light pink and silver 70s/80s sequinned top.

beguilingeyes · 05/04/2022 10:53

My thing at the moment is dresses. I keep buying them and almost never go anywhere to wear them.

I recently bought this. It makes me feel like Rita Hayworth but I'm never going to go anywhere to wear it.

OMG I have to buy that!
MrsZzz · 05/04/2022 10:54

This:

No idea when/where I’ll wear it but it’s so beautiful I just had to own it.

MrsZzz · 05/04/2022 10:55

That’s gorgeous @beguilingeyes

IEatChocolateForBreakfast · 05/04/2022 11:01

@MrsZzz

That’s gorgeous *@beguilingeyes*

My thoughts exactly. Do you mind if I ask where it's from? I can add it to the dozens of other dresses I'll only wear once 😂

beguilingeyes · 05/04/2022 12:03

Also available in red, black and rose gold. It's very forgiving too. There's a lot of stretch in the material.
