When was the last time you felt this, what for?
I can't help but feel like fashion was better 5-10 years ago. I cant remember the last time I felt strongly about purchasing something.
(I'm talking going out tops/bags/shoes/ jeans/ dresses... everything basically). I don't even know which shops to shop in now.. help a girl out?

What are your favourite recent purchases?

I bought this today. M&S don't often get it right but I really like it. Reasonable price too.

Today, trying to not spend frivolously as want a holiday in August but went to get some food from Aldi and got sidetracked for this. In my defense it matches the bar stools works in well with the sofa and chair doubles as storage and table Hmm

Both last year but this dress and these shoes...not together!

A Percy Pig mug for work. Love it!

Pythonesque · 05/04/2022 19:23

I think the last thing I felt like that about was a gorgeous blue dress I saw in a charity shop when I was looking for 18th birthday presents for DD, about 18 months ago ... And I was right, it did fit her beautifully.

AlternativelyWired · 05/04/2022 19:27

A pair of Vans I saw on a teenager a couple of weeks ago and really, really want. I've never owned a pair of Vans in my 45 years but I'm fed up of boring shoes. These have ditsy flowers on and I love them but they are £80 on Amazon.

Anotherdayanothernight · 05/04/2022 19:36

This bag last week, makes me happy to look at and looking forward to summer

OMG I have to buy that!
TheMoreYouKnow · 05/04/2022 19:37

That was weird-2 pairs of star trainers posted at 18.45! It must be in the stars!
Mine was a pink and green vertical striped Mango or Zara shirt can't remember which but when it arrived despite being a smaller size was absolutely mahoosive with drop shoulders looked so awful had to return it.
Other one was a coat 2 years ago that was £200 reduced from £400. Far more than I'd usually pay but was last in the sale in my size so had to have it. Have worn it twice so far. I've decided its an investment pieceBlush

I agree there were more nice things to pick from a few years ago. I thought it was just because in that time my lifestyle has changed, I don’t go out so much since having kids and post pandemic everything seems so much more casual. Clothes in the usual high street places all seem a bit meh. When it comes
to shoes, trainers or boots however I could buy a new pair every day and still try to justify it! I’ve bought a much wanted pair of DMs this winter which I love, a pair of Stan Smiths with a floral design on them which I saw someone was wearing at Christmas time and loved, a pair of chunky loafers with a chain for returning to the office and now I’m after a pair of Superga for the summer. Oops!

EveningOverRooftops · 05/04/2022 19:42

My doc martens with roses on them. I’ve wore them most of the winter though I do need to order some new laces as the ones in them aren’t quite long enough.

chisanunian · 05/04/2022 19:46

Looking at all the fashions around at the moment, I can't help wondering whether someone's switched the Flux Capacitor on when we weren't looking, and we've all gone back to 1985.
Confused

ZealAndArdour · 05/04/2022 19:50

@Ifeellikedancing

Scamp and Dude dresses are excellent quality, and hold their resale value well. I bought one (green with black leopard print) in July last year for £99, have worn it for a wedding/the reception, my works Xmas party, an engagement party, another wedding reception and then put it on eBay a couple of weeks ago and got £69 back for it.
I’m sure some would baulk at £7.50 cost per wear, but seems pretty bargainous to me.

I was literally walking up to the till with this the other day before I came to my senses. The fit is just beautiful.

I'm now on a mission to find something similar that's vintage and at a fraction of the price!

minniep · 05/04/2022 19:54

This dress and it is really flattering on. Of course then we all caught covid so I haven't worn it yet

@PoshPyjamas

A pair of dungarees from Toast. I have been looking for perfect dungarees for a little while - both flattering and comfortable. These are both. Perfect. TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN FUCKING POUNDS. On my credit card.
Need to see these. Also, do you have penchant for posh pyjamas. I'm with you on that. Can't resist
ImInStealthMode · 05/04/2022 19:58

Interesting thread OP! I've been trying to think and I honestly think it was this dress from Superdry back in March 2020! It was more than I'd usually spend on a casual dress but I love it (and it covers all manner of sins).

I've bought other things since that I like but more because they've been an absolute bargain, or just quite nice, or because I've needed them, than because I HAVE TO HAVE IT.

OMG I have to buy that!
OneRingToRuleThemAll · 05/04/2022 20:00

A pair of knee high boots from Russel & Bromley for £245. We are going to a family wedding in may, and had agreed an outfit budget. I am wearing a whole outfit I already own and spent the whole budget on one pair of boots.

ImInStealthMode · 05/04/2022 20:02

Oh thought of another one; I've developed a bit of a converse obsession recently. Someone crossed the road while I was stopped at traffic lights wearing these. I googled them as soon as I got home and now they are mine.

OMG I have to buy that!
Kalettesarethebest · 05/04/2022 20:04

This moment happens anytime I go into and other stories!!

guessagain · 05/04/2022 20:07

I really like a t-shirt on Shein, it’s about £6-£7, but I just can’t bring myself to order it. I ‘pretend’ shop a lot, see things I like, add to the basket then close the window, think better of it. I’m on a really small wage. I did look in Primark the other day & tried on a couple of tops, I looked like an deflated baymax so didn’t bother.

PoshPyjamas · 05/04/2022 20:11

@sleepyhoglet

It's these - They don't look much in the photo, but they are super slimming, and the fabric has a really nice soft but weighted feel to it.

And yes, I do like posh pyjamas! I changed my username to this when I had just bought some really lovely linen pyjamas from Desmond and Dempsey.

OMG I have to buy that!
Mendeleyev · 05/04/2022 20:12

Got this from M&S. been hankering after an orange dress for a while. It looks lovely on. www.marksandspencer.com/animal-print-midaxi-waisted-dress/p/clp60556949?color=ORANGEMIX

ZealAndArdour · 05/04/2022 20:19

My current “must buy that” item is this lovely dress from Coco Fennell;

Intend to buy it once I get paid my Easter bank holiday overtime pay.

MrOllivander · 05/04/2022 20:23

@VeryMuchFlaggingMinty I have that dress in black and it's gorgeous
