Would you wear these as daily trainers?

I live in jeans - need some everyday trainers as I’m sick of walking about in black ankle boots!

I’m 40 if that’s important

I’m your age & don’t consider Sketchers fashionable or stylish at all. They’re not hideously offensive so if you find them comfy and like them go for it.

harrumphs · 01/03/2022 18:53

@MaudieandMe

Surely by 40 you’ve realised that ‘fashionable’ and ‘cool’ are alternative words that essentially mean ‘screwing money out of gullible folk’? Grin

Honestly, I’ve never given a fuck about fashion from about the age of 13 and I’m very happy for it. It’s never stopped me getting ahead in my career or enjoying a happy home life and I don’t suffer from social anxiety either.

Wear what you want to, is comfortable for you and makes you feel happy and stop giving a stuff about the irrelevant opinions of other people.

But those Skechers are 57 quid!!! You can get much nicer casual trainers / pumps for less than that.
Angliski · 01/03/2022 18:56

Michael kors perforated leather catelyns or old school Adidas shell toes. I’m 43 if that helps!

RampantIvy · 01/03/2022 18:57

I hate Skechers and don't see the point of them tbh

Erm, they are supremely comfortable.

Skechers make a huge range of footwear. Not all of it is frumpy, but this is S & B so people who must be fashionable despise them.

Personally I don't consider trainers as a fashion item, but what do I know. I'm not very fashionable Grin

Lookingoutside · 01/03/2022 19:03

I wear Puma Cruise Rider or Hoff. I find them very comfortable and there are lots of nice colours.

I wouldn’t wear Sketchers OP but if you love them you should! X

@Sofasogood1

Hi *@richardmarxisinnocent*. I didn't say the op wasn't stylish - she said it in her second post. My point was - if you don't care about what looks good then what does it matter what we think. Op also asked what we wear - so I answered.

I have no idea if you are stylish or not.

Apologies, I'd misunderstood what you meant by "if you aren't stylish..." as I'd missed the OP saying she wasn't stylish.
timestheyarechanging · 01/03/2022 20:25

Not my style but if you like them and they're comfy go for it.
I'm 50 and re trainers, I wear with jeans, New Balance, kurt Geiger, Adidas superstar or converse (for decades!)

ouch12345 · 01/03/2022 20:44

Sketchers aren't known to be very stylish but are super comfy and I know a lot of nurses that where them. I don't think there's anything wrong with them at all oP and if they are comfy and you like it then go for it.

I usually wear new balance or veja trainers. New balance I find really comfy.

ThisBloodyNoiseInMyHead · 01/03/2022 20:48

I'd wear them. I wear something similar. I like my feet to be comfortable, I couldn't care less about fashion.

@LIZS

I have a pair similar and no not stylish. I find the sole rather spongy after a while and unsupportive.
Ditto. I bought a pair a few years ago and they felt flimsy and unsupportive. I only wore them for short trips out.
Rupertpenrysmistress · 01/03/2022 21:36

Well I did not realise how hated sketchers were on MN. I have a black pair I wear for work, I am on my feet for 13 hours and they are so comfortable. Trainers are a personal thing, some of the fashionable ones suggested make me feel like a clown as they feel clumpy and inflexible. I like sketchers as I can size down.

I like the look of the puma ones suggested. Can I ask are they true to size? Some trainers are so restrictive. It's all about comfort. Wear what you are comfortable in op.

VintageRoseFlower · 01/03/2022 21:40

Not my style. I'm trying to get my DH to get rid of his Skechers.

I wear Superga trainers/canvas shoes.

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 01/03/2022 21:47

I am 41. I mostly wear Nike Air Max (don't like 90's though). Also Vans and a few Adidas styles meet my approval.
I'm afraid those Skechers are pretty bad in my opinion. But it's only that, an opinion.

MissMaple82 · 01/03/2022 21:48

Yes I like them

EllaPaella · 01/03/2022 21:52

No I wouldn't. As a functional trainer/running shoe then yes, if they were comfy but otherwise no.

RampantIvy · 01/03/2022 22:21

I think there is an element of snobbery and superiority about Skechers on MN. Like you I really dislike big, clunky and inflexible trainers as well. They are uncomfortable and make me feel like a clown.

I have reached a point in my life that no show is worth wearing if it hurts my feet.

RampantIvy · 01/03/2022 22:33

Shoe, not show!

GettingStuffed · 01/03/2022 22:38

My daughter does. She works in care and comfort is most important .

Lookingoutside · 01/03/2022 22:49

@Rupertpenrysmistress

The Puma Cruise Rider? I take a 6 and mine are true to size.

Jowak1 · 02/03/2022 04:12

I'm 43 and love mine! They are so comfortable and have just got back from Las Vegas where I wore them every day walking up and down the strip. Didn't want sore feet ruining my holiday and these were such a good choice. If you like them OP doesn't matter what any one else thinks!

Lookingoutside · 02/03/2022 09:51

I just discovered Wushu. Nice thick sole and really amazing colours and design.

There a bit more expensive but appear to be something special.

Alyl77 · 02/03/2022 18:16

I’m not a big fan of these, personally with jeans I like Kurt Geiger trainers, smart comfortable and dressy, I am 45. I think each to their own, it is what you like and what makes you feel confident and comfortable, take your time, have a good look around try different styles on and go with what you like.

Beachlovingirl · 02/03/2022 20:22

My teens love sketchers as they are so comfy for school and can be black to be within uniform. The girls say they are the most comfortable trainers and they have tried lots of others .

For me, I prefer a white trainer. I have Veja esplars with the red “v” and bought them second hand off eBay so no breaking in. And they were a quarter of the price but only been worn a handful of times. Of course second hand shoes aren’t everyone’s taste!

Why not wear the sketchers for like every day and then if you feel like trainers are going to become your footwear of choice - like it has for me - you can stretch out to some other styles to suit other outfits or situations.
