Would you wear these as daily trainers?

I live in jeans - need some everyday trainers as I’m sick of walking about in black ankle boots!

I’m 40 if that’s important

Don't wear sketchers- they are very bad quality in my opinion and don't last plus not comfortable to me. I wear Converse more so in the summer as they not that warm. Vejays are nice and comfortable too. Got a par of Paul Green high tops for winter, real leather and very warm. For more sportier look i wear Nike Air Max

actiongirl1978 · 01/03/2022 16:15

I wear navy and rose gold trainers with navy tights and dresses/jeans (bought from J Crew many years ago but still look amazing)

White puma with jeans and summer dresses.

On Cloud running shoes with my gym leggings.

nervousseacreature · 01/03/2022 16:17

I actually own these trainers for everyday use. I’m almost 40…. I guess I’m super unfashionable.
They are comfy

MaChienEstUnDick · 01/03/2022 16:18

I have these too! I wear them for walking around, going to the supermarket, etc. Anything where I'm doing a bit of distance. But I wear gazelles with jeans/dresses/leggings if I'm throwing out a bit of fashion.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 01/03/2022 16:18

I'm 57 and wouldn't wear them
They're very unsupportive too

Abouttimemum · 01/03/2022 16:18

I’ve got a pair of Skechers, really comfy, I wear them with my jeans when I’m out with the toddler.
I’ve also got some vans, converse and new balance which I wear more in the summer. I’m not stylish in the slightest! Nor do I care in the slightest.

I don’t like the trend of white trainers. Looks like you’ve walked off a conveyor.

LadyMacduff · 01/03/2022 16:19

New Balance are nice with jeans and v comfy

Dottdoo · 01/03/2022 16:20

I've just bought some Veja's but I'm not convinced they look good with jeans????

I had converse's but they rubbed and the dog ate them.

I'm still looking for my perfect jean shoe/trainer?!

AfterSchoolWorry · 01/03/2022 16:20

Nope.

Sketchers are a bit fuddy duddy for a 40 year old OP.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 01/03/2022 16:21

I love my sketchers - so comfy. Not everyone is a floaty midi dress and white trainers person, and that’s okay.

Shainago · 01/03/2022 16:23

Not a fan. I much prefer these ones:

PragmaticWench · 01/03/2022 16:25

I think they are a safe option if you're not wanting to say 'trendy'. They'd be fine on most ages, somehow less trendy with jeans than with sports gear. Personally, with jeans I'd wear something less dull, probably brightly coloured asics or New Balance.

ErinAoife · 01/03/2022 16:29

I like them. You can wear them with almost anything as back. Good choice

ShittyFingers · 01/03/2022 16:30

Everyone keeps saying about Adidas Gazelle but I can’t find them in my size anywhere!

Skechers have an unfashionable reputation on S & B, but I'm willing to bet that if they were badged with a well known fashionable brand people wouldn't turn their noses up at them so much.

They make a huge range of footwear. Some is downright ugly, as are some extremely fashionable shoes, some are OK, and some look pretty much the same as any other trainer brand.

I don't get the hate for Skechers TBH, but I hate wearing uncomfortable and unsupportive shoes.

I would wear them @ShittyFingers, but I don't have friends who judge my footwear.

This thread is running at the mo. Lots of advice.

Sapphireskies · 01/03/2022 16:35

I wouldn't buy them for myself I don't think as I'm very fussy with shoes especially trainers. I wear Nike and Fila. As long as they are comfortable and you like them that's what is important it isn't up to anyone else how they view them Smile

Laiste · 01/03/2022 16:35

To be honest i think the brand being most often recommended on there for comfort and style is Stan Smith.

All my friends have 4 legs and a wagging tail so I doubt they’ll judge too much either 😂

I don’t know, I’ve never been fashionable - I’m usually covered in mud and dog hair for a start but I hit 40 and decided I really should make more effort. I’m never going to be fully on trend though!

I loved the comfort factor of my skechers but started to notice knee aches and pains. I changed trainers to adidas stan smith and knees now fine. I was aware that my feet slipped in them altho they were the right size length wise. Walk in them around the house for a bit before you decide to keep them.

Staffy1 · 01/03/2022 16:38

I would wear them, they look fine to me.

ShittyFingers · 01/03/2022 16:38

Ooo what about these? Stan Smith

How do you all keep your white trainers white? I have given up buying them as they are filthy in a couple of weeks.

Staffy1 · 01/03/2022 16:39

In fact, I have just checked mine and they are same type, just have black bottoms. I also live in jeans and either ankle boots or these.

WellTidy · 01/03/2022 16:41

I have these (previous season version, but pretty much the same shoe) and they are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned.

However. They would not be seen as remotely fashionable, in trend or in any way cool. I have trainers which are (a bit), and they are really different.

But I wear my sketchers like this to walk a good few miles most days and they are the bees knees and I wouldn’t be without them. If I need to walk to get somewhere, I wear my sketchers and change into my cooler trainers when I get there.
