Would you wear these as daily trainers?

I live in jeans - need some everyday trainers as I’m sick of walking about in black ankle boots!

I’m 40 if that’s important

I bought a pair of these a couple of months ago. I love them, they're so comfortable. I've worn Asics for the last 15 or so years but as they keep tweaking styles I've struggled to find anything that fits properly for the last couple of years and tried the Skechers out of curiosity. I only wear them with my jeans and just for casual, walking the dog etc.

I have their jandals too; again, super comfortable and fine for schlepping around home in.

@RampantIvy - if you look back, my response had been specifically to someone making a sniffy remark about people who care about shoe style. Of the ones you call out, I see nothing wrong with someone saying that their view is ugly, unfashionable. The ageist overtones aren't great, however I also think we have to be realistic that we unfortunately live in an ageist society, and that the majority of mn posters are going to be in that odd space between 35-55 where you can seem 'old' or just 'older' (or 'tragic') depending on fashion choices, and this can be quite important, depending on your working environment, marital status etc.

I am living in my Nike Air Force ones at the moment, so comfortable, but they’re quite chunky looking so not for everyone. They do a similar style called Dunk Low that look less chunky and quite nice colours.

My everyday trainers are Nike Renew Rival. I have had them for three years and they are so comfortable. My walking shoes are Skechers Trail shoes, which are currently covered in mud, and if I met a mumsnetter they wouldn't be able to see what brand they are Grin

I also have some light grey Converse dupes for wearing with dresses, but I don't find them very comfortable or supportive as they are so flat.

@RampantIvy

So sick of people coming on style and beauty to speak disdainfully of people who care about style and beauty

And those who speak disdainfully about other people's choices that aren't "fashionable" - back at you.

You're being wilfully obtuse.

QuizzicalEyebrows · 07/03/2022 09:24

I wear those to work and they're very comfortable and last for years.

I wouldn't wear them out though

MoniJitchell · 07/03/2022 11:41

I personally don't like Skechers. I can personally recommend Nike Daybreak for a narrow foot, I find them stylish and comfy.

thisplaceisweird · 07/03/2022 11:42

My 85 year old grandma wears these as her daily shoes.

Inthesameboatatmo · 07/03/2022 11:46

@ShittyFingers

Thought it was too good to be true. What trainers do you all wear?

I like them op and would happily wear them.

ABitBesotted · 07/03/2022 11:47

They're fine.

Shewhomustbeobeyed1 · 19/03/2022 01:00

“Harrumphs
They are lovely! I am sooooo tempted but I really shouldn't...”

You really should- you won’t be sorry!

Frollop · 19/03/2022 04:33

I think wear what you want.

For my I really need to choose supportive styles but many of my shoes are not.
Certain Nike styles I associate with younger people.

Personally I prefer New Balance/ASICS for trainers.

Converse, superga not supportive for me. Even some styles of new balance not supportive although may feel comfy.

I'd go for sketchers when I'm much older. I do not consider them fashionable although friend had a nice looking chunky pair on.

RayonSunrise · 19/03/2022 10:36

I'm finding the focus on the brand really odd, tbh. Confused

OP, I think the "issue" people are having is that this style of very minimalist black top/white sole trainer was THE style around 10 years ago, before all-white trainers took over that spot. So the "Sketchers" thing is a bit of a red herring.

I would be a bit wary of the reccs to buy white trainers instead. They've been THE style for a good few years now, so I'm starting to keep my eye out for the next big trend.
