Some time with a therapist to get to the bottom of why I think a £1000 on a bag is a good idea.

Ffs.

I had to scroll up to check if Op had posted in AIBU or chat by mistake!

Monsterjam · 26/02/2022 21:03

Have you looked at Anya Hindmarch… I think her bags are beautiful

slipperyeel · 26/02/2022 21:05

I would love a Loewe bag, bit more than 1k though.

And bag haters, just go somewhere else, it’s her money.

pinkprettyroses · 26/02/2022 21:06

@Ff10n

I'd go and buy something I liked at the £100 mark and donate the rest to charity. Sorry, but I think spending £1000 on a bag is immoral when there children going hungry and people sleeping on the streets.
I hope you have the same attitude to people who have an Audi, I mean a second hand ford would do the same? Just get a cheap car and donate the rest to charity?
KitKatKit · 26/02/2022 21:09

Ooh what a fantastic predicament to be in OP, and good for you buying something for yourself. Three kids later, you definitely deserve it!

I have a ridiculously OTT metallic YSL Lou Lou which brings me so much joy, and also a black YSL camera bag. I know you said you wanted a tote, but I felt that with the cross body bags, I got more wear out of them and they get less bashed about. Both of them were worth every single penny.

To the virtue signalling, thread de-railers; slow clap for trying to make the OP feel shit about her choices.

Plenty under 1000 here addictedtohandbags.org/collections/all

Totalwasteofpaper · 26/02/2022 21:14

Chanel you will struggle with unless you go for a 16 or 20cm mini although I just looked and they are 3k now!!’ Mine was less than 2k!!!

Have you looked at goyard or celine?

Goyard Saint Louis GM in classic colours is about 1k

YSL Lou - any colour Smile

I’m a vegetarian and have stopped buying leather bags. These vegan Stella McCartney look nice.

Fridafever · 26/02/2022 21:22

I’d get a goyard if you want a tote.

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 26/02/2022 21:26

I know they don’t have many fans on here, but I’d get an LV Neverfull. I almost bought one a few years ago and went for a medium lily in oak. I’ve hardly used it, and know that the LV would have been used all the time.

Wafflesnsniffles · 26/02/2022 21:28

£50 on a bag. £950 on other stuff. Clothes, shoes, new winter coat.

Rivering · 26/02/2022 21:30

This one:

Extendable caught my eye.

You have c£1000 to spend on a new handbag…
PlanetNormal · 26/02/2022 21:34

I would spend £20 on a handbag and the other £980 on a holiday.

Hadalifeonce · 26/02/2022 21:37

I would get something from Aspinals

RosesAndHellebores · 26/02/2022 21:38

I'd buy something I liked from Coach or Kate Spade and spend the rest on a luxury dressing gown from somewhere like Bonsoir and put the rest aside for a rainy day.

Totalwasteofpaper · 26/02/2022 21:39

Totally unpopular on here but I have two NFs (Azur and Ebene) and they are workhorses.

Both are 3 and 5 years old get regular use and look immaculate.
Love love love them…

Goyard Saint Louis,,Anya Hindmarch Neeson or a Saint Laurent tote.

^We had a disaster early on with a property that looked quirky and bohemian in the pictures but in reality was rundown, cluttered, dusty and really quite grim. Since then I've been more cautious and we've had some fantastic experiences:^ - - Maybe people who spend money on Airbnb's should stay home and give the money to charity?
Serenster · 26/02/2022 21:49

For a work tote I’d look at a Smythson I think - they have some really nice options in your price range. Otherwise I second the advice to go to Bicester and check what’s available there.

Riverlee · 26/02/2022 21:50

Me too!
labyrinthlaziness · 26/02/2022 21:51

@thistimelastweek

If I had £1,000 to spend on a new bag, I wouldn't spend it on a new bag.

(Sorry. )

Yeah, me too.
blanketyblanked · 26/02/2022 21:52

Spending £3 on a nice charity shop one (though I'd prefer a rucksack) and then the rest on something useful Grin

Holothane · 26/02/2022 21:54

@Maireasvothers have picked other things. So no that’s my choice,
