I think If you’re struggling to treat yourself with the money now, wait until you see something you really like. Don’t settle because you feel you need to spend the money now.

You might even find that you break the money down. You see a bag you love but it’s less than you expected and you can grab some great shoes too! No use spending money when you don’t love the product x

Personally I love Mulberry and have 6 bags from them, I feel they are very "quintessential british' so with that in mind, I'd get an OAK Bayswater, Lily or Alexa.

On the other hand I do love the patterned Louis Vuittons, and the Gucci Bamboo Handles and the Dior classics, if you can stretch budget

itsnotswimming · 26/02/2022 19:37

I know these are not £1000 but what about something like Sezane? You could then spend the rest on boots and clothes

Probably a bao bao Issey Majake tote

watchingthedetectives · 26/02/2022 19:40

Go to Bicester and get a Prada or Bottega Veneta - they knock a decent amount off and will probably get into your price range
I think there is a Mulberry there as well

I love Mulberry too, but I’d never buy one new. There are pre loved ones that are half the price which look barely used.

I really love Coach and Aspinal too, which are great quality. Maybe you could get one day bag and one evening bag for £1000? In particular the Aspinal Mayfair is lovely. I’d get it in dark green.

If I were determined to spend the full £1000 then I’d get the black Prada tote from a preloved site.

Leggingslife · 26/02/2022 19:52

A £50 bag and the rest to a charity.

gasty · 26/02/2022 19:56

I love Mansur Gavriel & the colour options they do

RTHJ14 · 26/02/2022 19:58

I’m a huge Mulberry fan, but I do find the Bayswater really heavy, and end up using less. The Bays tote is well under your budget, but is my favourite work bag. I’m lusting after a new Alexa currently but this year my bonus is going on a very specific dress I saw on ‘and just like that’!! Xx

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 26/02/2022 19:59

This would have been my choice but luckily sold already :)

@RTHJ14 the croissant one?

MondayYogurt · 26/02/2022 20:02

@ChampagneCommunist

Pre-owned classic Chanel 2.44.

I would use and love it. It was also hold it's value

For £1000??
mumda · 26/02/2022 20:05

I'd use the current one and put the money into premium bonds whilst I decide what to fritter it away on.
A handbag! Norra chance.

StiffyBing · 26/02/2022 20:06

I love bags, but confess I wouldn't buy a Mulberry. I had a Bayswater years ago and gave it to my sister. They're heavy and not terrifically practical. Unlined too, which always irked. I would consider a really decent second hand if I were you, HEWI is a good site based in the UK. Vestaire Collective is a big resale site, but be wary (although the fakes tend to be Chanel/Hermes which even resale are out of your budget). And if you do decide to go Bayswater consider second hand, there'll be lots about. Enjoy whichever you go with!

@Leggingslife

A £50 bag and the rest to a charity.
That's not a useful suggestion. Plus the whole charity thing was said upthread, and the OP doesn't need that advice.
SD1978 · 26/02/2022 20:08

Why bother coming onto, and derailing, a thread in style and beauty, when never once had OP asked, would you. You wouldn't, great for you, she (and many others) would, so the snarky passive aggressive bullying is unnecessary, childish, and quite frankly disappointing. Pop off and start your own thread about how you'd rather go to Greece, hand it to charity, or grab a £50 bag from next. Really, really wasn't the point and some people are acting bloody childishly. Don't agree, don't 'get it' then jog on and find something you do.......HmmBiscuit

NETSRIK · 26/02/2022 20:09

Mulberry. Always!

SierraHotelIndiaTango · 26/02/2022 20:12

It would go in the bank , sorry wouldn't spend that amount on a bag

MapleMay11 · 26/02/2022 20:12

I would keep saving until I had enough for a preloved Chanel. I would judge anyone with a Mulberry bag extremely harshly.

RTHJ14 · 26/02/2022 20:13

@gasty I don’t think my bonus would stretch to that one! Xx

furryslipperbum · 26/02/2022 20:16

I have no idea because since going pt at work I no longer have a handbag fund. I hope you enjoy whatever you buy though OP! Just following here to dream about bags Grin

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 26/02/2022 20:20

I don't know, how do you choose? Don't know much about handbags. Where to start?
