Loewe puzzle is honestly the best bag I have. I have the small and can fit so much in it. I love it far more than my Chanel double flap

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 02/03/2022 13:57

Something plain from Coach, possibly. Not impressed with Mulberry quality in more recent years.

I'm looking at a Coach camera bag but I feel like I have to talk myself into it. I like the bag but not sure about the brand. I'm usually a Mulberry/LV kinda girl.

Juno22 · 02/03/2022 14:37

LondonWolf that bag is gorgeous! I don't normally like pink but I absolutely love it.

Oohh so lucky @Nw22 what colour do you have? Any chance of a photo?

I’ve just come back from a city break to Barcelona with my dd, very sadly the Loewe shop was closed for refurbishment ☹️

@chocolatesaltyballs22 - I know what you mean, they are good shapes and good quality but theres almost a compromise feel about the brand, when others at that "lower than designer, but higher than high street" bags are still desirable in a way - think others have managed to create a "ok we are not in the big league, but we are fun!" feeling to their brands, whereas coach seems to be "we are a more sensible purchase", and frankly if you wanted to be sensible you'd go to M&S.

That said, I was given a coach small cross body bag and its really lovely ! Use it so much more than I thought I would and is just the right size for evenings out when I dont want to be obviously carrying an evening bag, but don't want to take a bag I've been lugging around work all day.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 02/03/2022 17:06

Think you've hit the nail on the head there @MargosKaftan. This is the one I'm looking at. I already have a black Gucci Soho for crossbody purposes but I've been lusting after a green bag for ages as I seem to have lots of green clothes. Have had this one in my basket ready to pay for it and then something has just talked me out of it!!!

Interesting take on Coach’s image! I can see why some people may feel that way, but it’s not something that puts me off the brand. I feel the quality of the leather and design of Coach bags is better than high street offerings. I’m happy to be seen as someone too “sensible” to pay inflated designer prices for no further increase in quality Wink

In fact I got a lovely Coach camera bag recently and it’s made me very happy Smile

@5329871e it's lovely and I've looked at that one in green as well. I'm not trying to put a downer on it. It's just a feeling I personally get about the brand compared with other brands I've bought.

ThankYouVeryMuchGerry · 02/03/2022 17:37

I've never been much of a handbag fan, but seeing the pics and the links on here I've changed my mind! Some of them are so beautiful, I can completely see the appeal now - better get saving!

I love this.

I love this one. Not too big, works crossbody and as a shoulderbag. Colour goes with everything

Thanks I've looked at that one and I do love Aspinal but I'm not a fan of the A in the front.

Doodar · 02/03/2022 21:20

The Bayswater is heavy, hardly use mine.
Luxury bags have gone through the roof price wise.I bought a YSL one just before lockdown and its gone up by £245
I like this one www.celine.com/en-gb/celine-shop-women/handbags/cabas/medium-cabas-phantom-in-soft-grained-calfskin-189143TNI.38NO.html

I'm a coach convert tote bags look smart like the TARDIS hold so much the stitching is stronger and a quick wipe I'm good to go

TizerorFizz · 02/03/2022 23:25

You can spend £1350 on the awful hot pink recycled nylon Little Softie from Mulberry snd fully sign up to the “I saw you coming” joke from Harry Enfield. Or buy something with a bit of class snd craftsmanship.,

Loewe Puzzle is nearer £2000. There are great mid priced bags from Ralph Lauren, Longchamp and others that will give you enough change for a pair of earrings. £1000 is now a strange price bracket. Not enough for a really great bag but enough for something everyone else has.

Wandler bags look interesting. I’ve seen them on a few fashion editor Instagrams.

TizerorFizz · 03/03/2022 08:49

DeMellier bags are well priced and have something for everyone. Russell and Bromley bags are well made. Plenty of Gucci logo bags at around £1000. LV, as far as I can see, nothing except a tiny envelope style bag. Mulberry are in this price range. Look at sales too.

DoThePropeller · 03/03/2022 15:42

I didn’t manage to get anywhere as too many meetings and then lured out for wine by a friend. Friend arrived with her Loewe puzzle bag and I didn’t think I liked them but my mind has been changed - not as small as I thought they were and actually looks like it could be a really versatile option.

I’m happy to spend more than £1k (and less) it was a slightly arbitrary number - although I think I’d struggle to spend Chanel money and then actually use the bag every day and I don’t want to be precious about it.

If you don't understand designer handbags, how about you just scroll on by rather than trying to make the OP feel guilty for spending her own money on something she wants.
Well said.
