This is "Beauty addicts anonymous", a wonderful community of beauty product addicts & we have been going a hot minute... some may say we are enablers... many would say that they are much more intentional about their stashing and usage since joining this sisterhood.

@Experiment627 haha sorry for enabling! 🤭 🤗

Experiment627, Fraaahnces, MissingGrandstand I’ll definitely share my honest review of the cream when I finally get to it. It’s just… we might be well into 2023 when it happens 👀 I hope none of us are leaving this thread anytime soon! 😉

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 05/07/2022 22:59

Good evening ladies.

My insubstantial contribution:

Estée Lauder double wear - HG for me. Saying that, I find it a bit too heavy for the summer so will switch to another lighter foundation for a bit and go back to DW when the weather turns.

Watermelon Glow - I just don’t get it. What does it do? No RP from me although I think I have another one somewhere in my stash.

Oskia Isotonic Hydra serum - this I do like, however when I saw the price to replace (I think I have mine from the Cult Beauty advent calendar), I won’t be doing that any time soon!

Neals yard Frankincense hydrating cream - initially I loved the smell of this but by half way through the tub I was heartily sick of it. The texture was lovely but it was hard going getting through the rest of the tub.

Experiment627 · 06/07/2022 13:40

Ok so I have a few empties to report:

  • Superdrug Me+ BHA toner: really liked this and cheap as chips

  • elf big mood mascara: this is a chuck - it just clumps so much and is so messy to apply

  • Lush T'eo deodorant: really wanted to like this but my pits just were not happy so this is a chuck

  • iT confidence in a cleanser: hmm... I am a bit underwhelmed by this cleanser. Says to apply to damp skin but worked better when applied to dry.

  • iT confidence in a cream: I was not keen... leaves a sort of residue/film

  • iT confidence in your sleep: did not like the smell (reminded me of the Origins mega mushroom cream) and like the day cream leaves a residue.

TBH quite disappointed with my foray into iT cosmetics... also the horrible silicone - cyclopentasiloxane is in both creams - so this nasty ingredient has definitely not been banned in the USA like it has in the EU.

MissingGrandstand · 06/07/2022 18:11

Some more empties this evening:

Ouai leave in conditioner: I go through these like sweets, don't buy any other leave-ins, no need to repurchase yet as I have more backups than I care to admit. Will use what is left in the bottle as a rinse next time I shower

Dr. Jart+ Vital Hydra Solution Biome Water Cream: long winded way of saying gel moisturiser, but my current favourite gel moisturiser. Repurchasing caused me to fall off the wagon last weekend, but I loved it so it was necessary!

Frank Body Original Coffee Scrub: super mixed feelings about this. Worked nicely as a scrub, nice and gritty, and had an oil base so felt hydrating when rinsed off. But the smell - it smells exactly like coffee grounds? I know coffee is implied but I expected coffee scented, not pure coffee! Also made a hideous mess of my shower, probably wouldn't repurchase.

Malin + Goetz Botanical Deodorant: I have the exact opposite problem with this to the body scrub - this smells AMAZING, very similar to the Aesop Geranium Leaf range, but didn't feel like it did anything at all as a deodorant. It was also really hard to apply! Full disclosure - I put this in my hospital bag when I went into labour thinking I'd be a clean beauty goddess of a mother, oh how I laugh at how pretentious that was! Will stick to Mitchum in future

I adore it cosmetics confidence in your sleep cream! The smell is Devine and stops your other face stuff from coming off on your pillow. Smells like sleep spray to me!

Caggie09 · 06/07/2022 19:45

@PomRuns I agree with the JoLoves perfumes, i also dont reach for my Jo Malone ones anymore. I was a fool amd paid £100 for a limited edition years ago, the smell fades after 20 minutes...

My one empty is also a perfume. Charlotte Tilbury Scent of a Dream. My god this is old, and boy you can tell. Smelt off and musty! Otherwise it was such a powerful "glamourous" scent!

Caggie09 · 06/07/2022 19:52

Seen this on IG earlier. I hope this comes to the UK, as i want that cleansing balm😬

@Caggie09 I would buy the heck out of that cleansing balm too! (I don’t believe in spending big on things that are rinsed off your skin immediately)

Deathraystare · 07/07/2022 16:47

This smells more like pistachio/almond than the BUM BUM cream

Oh dear. Another thing to add to my list!

Deathraystare · 07/07/2022 17:03

Is it shocking to admit I rarely have to throw away anything? I rarely get to use up stuff as I have so much stuff! I did chuck the Biotin conditioner - a small bottle that was finished more or less (tend to use Revlon Flex AND the Garnier pots whatever they are called).

I should probably chuck some mascaras and I use so many different lipsticks I never wear them down! I have an old Dior one called Gypsy and god knows how old it is but it still goes on ok!

Anything I don't like, instead of chucking it, I bring to the hospital's 'beauty box' for our patients. A few lipsticks, eye palettes and body creams etc etc have ended up in there!

OchonAgusOchonOh · 07/07/2022 17:17

First empties for a while. I've had loads of the no. 7 eye cream over the years and it lasts so long, that I'm bored with it. It's a nice cream though.

I liked the M&S night cream. Nice and moisturising and lovely scent.

I also finished off a tube of nivea soft on holidays. I tend to take that with me as it's good for face and body so less to bring.

I brought covid back with my from holidays though. Thankfully I'm not terribly sick, just bit tired and vaguely dizzy. Supposed to be going away for a few days for work on Monday but may have up cancel. If I'm negative on Sunday and feeling ok, I may still go.

Fraaahnces · 08/07/2022 05:39

Oh @OchonAgusOchonOh! I hope that your bug disappears asap, and you feel back to 100%.

I finished my L’Oreal hair mask. It was from their professional range and smelled so strongly like a cheap gardenia perfume it hurt my eyes. It was supposed to smooth my hair but it just weighed it down.

I also finished a bottle of Neutrogena Retinol Oil. In don't use it on my face or alone, but mixed with my thick barrier cream on my Neck’N’Deck. I use this very liberally over a large surface area and it’s not irritating. Have swapped to the L’Oréal retinol serum for more oomph.

Fraaahnces · 08/07/2022 09:56

Well… Does it count as an empty if an oblivious teenaged boy pushes an eyeshadow palette onto the bathroom tiles while looking for nail clippers and it’s into smithereens…? Asking for a friend.
Revlon So Fierce Prismatic Eyeshadow palette in “That’s a Dub.” (Dumb name.) I’m not exactly a fan of Revlon, but this was half price at the chemist. It’s one of the best eyeshadow palettes I own. I bought a back up today as Revlon has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. (May have bought the other three palettes.) Smooth, foiled, true neutral palette. Neither warm nor cool. I wore it to work today - lasted all day. I applied it this afternoon on top of one of their eyeshadow crayons. (A dark brown one.) Amazing.

Thanks @Fraaahnces . Thankfully I'm not particularly sick. Just irritated. I had taken this week off work to get loads of jobs done around the house and am now confined to quarters in order not to infect anyone else. Dh works from home so is around the house most of the time and ds is working odd hours so is around a fair bit too.

Oh no. That's terrible. I assume it was a favourite palette? It always is.

A tip if it's still contained in the palette. If to pour surgical spirits or pure alcohol on the powders and then squish really hard, they can be returned to a usable format. Not quite as firm as previously so gentle use of a brush is required afterwards.

Obviously no good if the colours have ended up mixed.

I have perservered with the Poundland #6 skincare... adding in the Vitamin C serum, face mask and cleansers to the mix... today I have 3 spots!!! Hope the Boots stuff arrives soon!!!

Fraaahnces · 08/07/2022 23:49

why is it that bugs always get you when you take time off @OchonAgusOchonOh??? You probably wish you’d stayed at work. My palette (quad, really) was on the bathroom bench because I have been using it every day for w while. Had even hit pan with one of the shades. My “cherub” had done a great job attempting to deal with it - he had smeared it all over the floor with loo paper and then given up/forgotten about it. 🤯(He was given spray and paper towels when I noticed the mess after work.) If I am honest, it wouldn’t take much to mess up these palettes. Some of the shadows (which are as soft and creamy as any high-end one I’ve used - maybe more in some cases) are a bit loose in their pans but still perfectly fine. Wouldn’t take them travelling though. It’s replaced AND I have a back up. Would have been about £4 each to you.

Yes, bugs are really inconsiderate.

Sounds like a good number was done on the palette. At least you have a replacement.

Finished a Sunday Riley Ice ceramide moisturiser. Love this texture and smell but gutted that lately I've reacted to it when putting it on over a serum or Skin & Me . So won't be repurchasing any time soon, good thing too really as it is £££.

Also finished Wonder water conditioner, good stuff and doesn't make hair feel claggy so I'm going to get another if I find it on offer.

Oh and a Sunday Riley Good Genes sample bottle, not so keen on this, get better results from Alpha H Luquid Gold toner which is my preferred glycolic.

MidnightMeltdown · 09/07/2022 13:16

Hi all, I've been travelling quite a bit over the past couple of months so haven't posted in a while, but I've managed to get through a few of my travel minis while away:

60) Naturaletech nourishing shampoo - ok, smelt nice, but didn't notice that it did anything that a regular supermarket shampoo doesn't do. However, it is for dry hair, which isn't my hair type.

61) Malin and Goetz advanced renewal cream - loved this. It's nice and light and sinks in well. I hate thick sticky creams that sit in the surface of the skin.

62) Omorovicza lip balm - not bad. Very gloopy. I prefer the fresh lip balm that I'm using now.

63) Bum Bum cream - nice quality cream. I'm a bit on the fence about the scent. It's not bad, but it feels a bit childish. It reminds me of the vanilla scented body sprays that I used to wear when I was about 12! Don't mind it in summer though.

64) Bom Dia Bright cream - I think I prefer the scent of this to the bum bum cream

65) Drunk Elephant B Hydra serum - ok, Drunk elephant products seem to be very mild. Never really notice much difference from using them, but then, it is a very small sample

66) Drunk elephant Retinol cream - as above

67) Murad exfoliating cleanser - good exfoliator. Like this, but don't know whether I would bother to RP as I tend to use more chemical exfoliators.

68) Neom Perfect Nights Sleep Cream - I like the lavender scent, but found this too thick and sticky, especially for summer.

Well I had a fabulous birthday weekend. Surprised by visiting guests from far away and a party Sat night, only to test + on Monday (my actual birthday.) I just feel like I have a flu atm. I have used this time to plop on some sheet masks (meh) and spend time massaging my face with cleansing oil and using lots of soothing products. I finished one of my mini Laneige lip masks from the holiday selection. It was supposed to be Ginger Snap scented, but it smelled like caramel. Not my favourite.

Glad you had a lovely weekend. Happy birthday.

Commiserations on the covid. Hope you're feeling better soon. I'm working through mine as I'm not really bothered in terms of symptoms but am fed up now. A fainter and slower to appear positive today so hopefully on the way out.

An empty to report - I really liked this and would consider a RP.

@Fraaahnces get well soon 💐 glad that you are putting your stash to good use.

I have a few empties to report:

  • Boots Ingredients hyaluronic acid: non sticky - which is great... I am just not sure of how effective this was

  • Boots Ingredients polyglutamic acid: I preferred to the hyaluronic acid - felt more plumping/hydrating

  • Umberto Giannini Flowerology hair dye in chestnut brown: this concludes my Flowerology stash - I quite like it from a non-stripping of the hair POV, not so hot on the grey coverage prowess

  • Bondi Sands coconut & sea salt body scrub: this feels like rubbing skin on your body... oh wait that's cos it is sand! I am not a fan of that texture and also it is a MF to wash off. This was a present from Father Christmas.
