This is "Beauty addicts anonymous", a wonderful community of beauty product addicts & we have been going a hot minute... some may say we are enablers... many would say that they are much more intentional about their stashing and usage since joining this sisterhood.

Sand scrub doesn't sound very luxurious @Experiment627!

This thread has put me on a mission to use up all the half-empty things I can find so I've quite a lot of empties this time.

Got2be dry shampoo it's fine, did the trick, nice and cheap!

L:A Bruket body lotion from the Liberty drop, I think. Nice scent but it didn't sink in very well and did nothing for my bobbly upper arms.

Omorovicza queen of Hungary mist never had any idea what to do with this till I read on the S&B boards about misting before hyaluronic acid so used this before my ANR. Have another in the stash so will do the same with that but really, does it do anything that a spritz of water wouldn't?

Goldfaden MD vital boost moisturiser well this is annoying - love this and it turns out to be really pricey. Gah!

Erborian pink perfect creme I've seen this brand raved about on S&B but this did nothing for me.

Clinique moisture surge lip fantastic as an overnight lip mask as it's thick and gloopy but the applicator is a bit blobby (couldn't think of a better description!)

La Roche-Posay cicaplast foaming gel bought this ages ago when I went a bit overboard with new skincare and my face objected. This is so soothing and sorted it out in no time. Used this just to finish it off as it'd been open a while but would definitely buy again if anything flared up.

Aaaand that’s why I don’t go to the beach. Sand in my bits is not my idea of a good time. (Shudders). I can’t imagine that sand is good to rub on your bod anyway. You’d get micro tears. You are not a coffee table that needs repainting. Bin the sand scrub!

Experiment627 · 17/07/2022 06:19

I realised I missed out a crucial word in my sand scrub critique but you guys got the gist! I love the sea... not so keen on sand but when entering water I do prefer sand to rocks...

This week's empties:

69) Kili.g face eyes and neck mouse - this came in a Holland and Barrett advent calendar. I quite liked it. It was 60ml, the container was light for travel, and made from ocean plastic, so it ticks boxes for being environmentally friendly. I HATE the way that brands like Elemis use packaging that is ridiculously oversized and unnecessarily heavy. It also had an expiry date on it, which I appreciate. You never know how long products have been lingering in shops or warehouses before you buy them*

  1. Bramley body Wash - ok. Very mild scent. I wouldn't go out of my way to RP. If I'm paying extra for a body wash then I want a scent that lingers.

  2. Elivive shampoo - fine, but I'm bored with it. Almost through my multipack if these

  3. Elvive conditioner* - as above

Total for the year: 72/125

Apologies for weird formatting, my app seems to suffering in the heat and playing up!

Fraaahnces · 17/07/2022 14:55

SANA wrinkle care night jelly. This is a lovely product. It has soy ferment and retinol, and is cooling and luxurious. It feels like a sleeping mask rather than a cream. I purchased two of the refills and put it in an empty pot, but hadn’t checked the size. I was squeezing it out of the refil for weeks like a toddler sucking a yoghurt, but it was totally fine. I am choosing to purchase “refil” products over packaged ones wherever possible and I really appreciate how a lot of Japanese companies in particular don’t over-package in the first place. The refills are cheaper, and I think they are more likely to survive postage without leaking.

Ooh I really want to try out J and K beauty.

I still have loads of products at the moment though. I really need restrain myself during advent calendar season. I'm getting bored with the same over priced, over packaged products appearing year after year.

Fraaahnces · 18/07/2022 01:34

@MidnightMeltdown - when you want to start trying things, let me know. I can refer you to some great websites. In the meantime, the guru James Welsh and Aliceintherabbithole on YouTube are pretty good to pique your interest.

Experiment627 · 18/07/2022 08:58

I have a few empties to report:

  • Champneys moisturising face mask: as usual I got two uses from a sheet mask - this actually was lovely and refreshing on second use - loads of serum left and I kept in the fridge so it was very cooling

  • Steradent active plus: ok so not really a beauty product but these tablets keep my night guard looking ok and are way cheaper than other tablets I have tried

  • UpCircle eye cream: smells like coffee grounds... oh cos it is coffee grounds! Really did not last for very long and I did not appreciate the smell. Like the upcycle sentiment though.

  • Boots Ingredients moisture conditioner: lasted a bit longer than the shampoo. Really liked it - did not overly oil my hair, leaving it soft.

  • Boots Soltan 30 SPF suncare lotion 50ml: perfect travel size, smells nice and applies really easily

Fraaahnces · 19/07/2022 13:11

Thinking of depotting (not deporting, thanks autocorrect) my eyeshadows and putting them into magnetic palettes. Has anyone done this successfully? Apart from mascara which I do go through, I’ve set myself a no-buy for makeup until the end of the year. I feel like I could make my own “inspired by” palettes whenever I get tempted. Would I regret this?

PomRuns · 19/07/2022 16:13

i only wear use those Laura Mercier Caviar sticks @Fraaahnces I do have an urban decay and a Anastasia palette but only use when going out. Oh I think I have a cheap one when BA lost my luggage and I had to make a few emergency purchases.

hope covid has gone for all.

Prai wrinkle repair night cream - loved this. Would repurchase. Rick but not too much.

Clarins tonic bath and shower concentrate - an absolute favourite. Love the smell, so uplifting.

Origins Ginzing - nice snell but not moisturising enough for me.

Otto Sleep drops. Don’t think did anything.

89/100
10 samples

PomRuns · 19/07/2022 16:16

Fraaahnces · 19/07/2022 21:32

Thanks @PomRuns! Can’t believe I’m 50! COVID didn’t hit me as hard as the secondary throat thing. Currently in bed (6am) and already sucking on Difflam lozenge. Blech!

Experiment627 · 19/07/2022 23:32

I use Difflam spray! Just off to spray up as my throat is on FIRE! Really hope it is not CV!

Ponks · 20/07/2022 18:33

Sample bottle of No7 Radiance vitamin c glow toner finished. Really like it, much nicer than other similar timers eg that Ren glow tonic that crops up everywhere. Have already bought a full size replacement as was 40% off (win win).

Malin & Goetz vitamin E moisturiser sample, meh. Nothing special.

Agent Nateur Holi Oil face serum (from one of the posh advent calendars via ebay), oh this is a lovely face oil, I add a couple of drops into any old moisturiser for a bit of luxury. Smells beautiful. Will never buy full price but it's been a lovely treat.

Pennycandy · 21/07/2022 14:25

Hi! I used to post on this forum a few years ago. I would love to participate again! I have been continuing to use up products since I was active on here though (and buying some products haha). I am based in the US, hope no one minds. Glad to see the thread is still going strong, thanks Experiment627. Happy Thursday all!

supadupapupascupa · 22/07/2022 08:37

clary · 22/07/2022 09:47

oMG you enablers, I have succumbed to the Liberty GWP. I actually looked at the second one but decided, the fragrance notwithstanding, I would get more use out of the £100 one. I have gone for a REN body scrub I have been wanting to RP, a facemask that looks good, REN tonic as I love that now and a small dermalogica night cream. Whoops. Have some empties too, will post in a bit.

Experiment627 · 22/07/2022 14:46

Welcome back @Pennycandy!!! lovely to have you here. Where abouts are you in the USA?

oopsie @clary 🤣🤣🤣

I have one empty:

  • Ancient oil blend (got off Amazon): helps when congested. All good - would RP

clary · 22/07/2022 14:48

Lol good thing I did it as it looks as tho that one and the biiiig one are sold out now :) <justifies spend>

Babysharkdoodoodood · 22/07/2022 20:53

2 empties

Creightons micellar water. The only thing that gets BadGalBang off without scrubbing and stinging. Definite RP
Oskia gel. Love this but too spendy and I have an Aldi jelly and Emma Hardy balm to use.

That would be fab, thank you @Fraaahnces 😊

I really have no idea where to start with these brands.

I still have a lot to use up, but I reckon that I'll be out of cleansers before too long, so I might be able to justify a spend in a month or so.

In the meantime, I'll check out the YouTube videos...

MidnightMeltdown · 23/07/2022 15:52

@PomRuns I'm using that Ginzing atm. I quite like it. I found it cooling during the heatwave!

Fraaahnces · 24/07/2022 08:52

@MidnightMeltdown - the biggest two websites are Stylevana and YesStyle. I always look at their reviews, but have learned that you can wait up to three months for your products to arrive, and their customer service is non-existent. I often buy my cleansing oils and cleansers from these if I am in no rush for them to arrive. (The clearance and outlet parts of the websites are great for this - I don’t spend lots of products I wash off straight away.) If you can, download the StyleKorean and OLIVEYOUNG Global apps. They both have sales ALL the time and their products tend to be cheaper. They both sell only Korean Skincare, so if I am after Japanese skincare (I can’t go past Hada Labo products (serums and milks) for hydrating and brightening. I believe that you can buy them from Boots or Superdrug these days. Not sure if the formulations are the same, but they come in HUGE bottles and you can confidently use them all over face, neck and dec. or even all over your body if you want. I have found that I like both Japanese and Korean sunscreens. I have tried heaps of them. Happy to help you out there if you are interested.

Fraaahnces · 24/07/2022 12:41

I (sort of) finished the Nature Republic Forest Garden Chamomile Cleansing Oil today. This is without a doubt one of the nicest ones I’ve ever used. I love the fresh, herbal scent and it has the perfect amount of viscosity for me to remove my (very light) makeup thoroughly. It’s one of the most effective ones I’ve had and it lasted for aaaages. DD2 (almost 16) has suddenly decided that she wants a skincare routine and I gave her what was left in the bottle - about 1/3- to see if she sticks with it. (Strict instructions to return it when done because I have some refill packs from another brand and the bottle with it’s chamomile daisies is pretty.) I’m about to start using the TONYMOLY Wonder Apricot Cleansing Oil. It has a VERY light, sweet fruit scent.
