This is "Beauty addicts anonymous", a wonderful community of beauty product addicts & we have been going a hot minute... some may say we are enablers... many would say that they are much more intentional about their stashing and usage since joining this sisterhood.

Just checking in, love reading all about your lovely empties.

Justilou1 · 29/01/2022 08:55

One empty and a valuable lesson learned… The empty was a garden-variety men’s deodorant. It was L’Oreal Thermoc Resist. I think they’re all the same bar the scent, but I love the wanky names.

The lesson:- Last week I used a BB cream I’ve had for ages. I think the shade I have was discontinued when I bought it. (See where this is going?) Anyhow, it’s an Aussie drugstore brand that literally no one’s ever heard of. It’s on the bottom shelf and it’s dirt cheap. It was a blind buy because it had a super-high spf (mineral-based coverage) and I had run out of iT Cosmetics and CBA dragging my aging carcass to talk to 8 year olds with perfect, architectural eyeliner. I always smoosh it together with my spf and schmeer it on my face. Picked it up today and it had obviously decided it was way past it’s best before date and evolved into Napalm. (Luckily was right next to the cleanser and have iT Cosmetics to cover the red face.) BIN!!! (Tbf, that’s getting long in the tooth too…. sigh!)

@Experiment627

Glad to help. It is a bit fiddly to do but well worth it

It does make you spend though but at least you are recycling

At one point you used to get points even if you bought nothing but obviously they changed it.

Nice way to build up your points. I tend to keep it near £10 when doing it though

Experiment627 · 29/01/2022 10:53

Ouchie @Justilou1 !!!

Checking in.

TeaAddict235 · 29/01/2022 22:19

Thank you for the warm welcome.

Had a bath this eve and finished 2 products as part of a hair mask step.

Garnier Maple Restorer hair mask (amassed when visiting family) : love it for the scent and how moisturising it leaves my hair. It is not as thick as the normal conditioner, but it is a good accompanying product which is a must for hair in the 4 range. I still have about 2 more of these to go from my stash, and I really like them.

Garnier nutrisse 4 oils conditioner: bought about 6 of them from my local charity shop that always has hair and beauty products from the Boots next door and I enjoy using them. I feel that they give my hair a nice boost, and they smell nice too.

Hello - hope everyone having a great weekend.
Garnier intensive 7 day lotion. Staple product for me. One of the best lotions of not the best for my dry skin and cheap.
Clarins double serum. Liked it. I’d like to try something else to compare. Skin certainly felt soft.
Elemis cleansing balm. Loved it. Effective, not drying. Will definitely repurchase.
Clarins lip oil. Again liked, not great staying power, in two minds if I’d purchase.
Molton Brown shower gel. Enjoyed using.

15/100 plus 4 samples.

Finally found the thread. Haven't posted for aaaaaaaages

Just had a mini clearout and rearrange of my organisers. Love to go through my makeup bits and pop some away and pull out ones I haven't used for a while. It's like shopping but without the wallet pain.

Just a few hair bits that I will never use again. The B&B dry shampoo is great, but have some Living Proof on the way from Fridays SpaceNK haul (spend 100 get 20 off). Stocked up on travel sizes for holidays.

2 empties for me, hourglass mineral veil primer (loved it but have so many primers I need no more) and a Becca powder (liked this, do need a new powder as I don’t have any others but I can’t for the life of me find out what this one was called!).
Glad to get them out, I have so many things that need using up.

My mum fessed up to me thatbshe has chucked her foundation as it had separated on her... and I had a foundation malfunction this morning so I think the time has come to get us both something nice - any recommendations? I have combination skin & my mum has dry.

I’m a big fan of the bare minerals compacts (apply with a brush). Feel like you don’t have anything on but gives good coverage.

Minnie123456 · 30/01/2022 23:09

Another empty vo5 ultimate hold hairspray I have been using this tin for about 2 years🙈 in my defence I only use hairspray when I wear my hair down which is very rarely.

Justilou1 · 31/01/2022 00:47

@Experiment627 - I don’t know anyone that hates iT Cosmetics CC cream. It’s got great coverage and you can sheer it out with your moisturiser. They have a matte, original and luminous formula. (The shades are not uniform between them, btw…) The OG formula is my fave. It’s still quite dewy, IMO. Seems to suit most age groups and was made originally for sufferers of Rosacea, so it has a very high (and effective) SPF, and it’s non-irritating.

Experiment627 · 31/01/2022 04:13

Thanks @PomRuns - is that a powder? Will look into a bit more.

@Justilou1 I was looking at the CC cream from iT Cosmetics last night - thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately the ingredients contain cyclopentasiloxane which is a silicone that has already been banned in some skincare in the EU. It is a shame as I really have wanted to try something from this brand after listening to a podcast from its founder (she sounds like an amazeballs entrepreneur) but I try to never knowingly use this ingredient and my mum will definitely not apply it to her skin.

@Experiment627 it’s a fixed powder- I find the loose one too much of a faff !

Thanks @PomRuns!

I have an empty to report:

  • Baylis & Harding Royale Garden lemon and basil: a bit too sharp for me... but the smell does not linger. I am moving back to good old soap for a while.

Also two chucks:

  • Wet n Wild photofocus eyeshadow primer: one of the better eye primers I have used but has been open a fair while and I am now nervous about using
  • Boots No7 Extreme length mascara: hmmm did not really live up to its name but worked just fine. This was from the Macmillan advent., which I have been quite impressed by.
I shopped my stash for a new mascara (trying out the Lush one) and I bought a new primer from Rimmel).
