I am sitting on two unopened 25-ml pots of Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream waiting to be used, and the polarising opinions on its scent make me both curious and anxious right now 😅
@clary I really didn’t need to do this, but… I also bought the M&S Beauty Bag when I was purchasing a pair of sandals online 🙈
In my defence, all I can say is that the galloping inflation is only going to make everything more expensive, so buying stuff now saves me a few pounds in the long run. And it’s a well-known fact that I am not a stranger to expired skincare and beauty products, so it is all going to be used up eventually.
The evidence of this are my June empties ⬇️
milk_shake k-respect Smoothing Shampoo (10 ml; £1.49) – I found it difficult to wash it out, so my hair never felt (or looked) clean. Maybe I would have appreciated it more if I had a keratin treatment to maintain, as this shampoo is specifically designed to be used after those treatments 🤷♀️
milk_shake Integrity Shampoo (10 ml; £1.49) – it was good at maintaining my hair colour but smelled of caramel which is not my favourite scent, I must confess, so I won’t buy the full size.
milk_shake Integrity Intensive Treatment (10 ml; £1.49) – a thick white cream which also smelled of caramel. I saw no difference/improvement in my hair after using it, so I won’t purchase the full size.
milk_shake Incredible Milk (10 ml; £1.49) – this one smelled of custard 😅 I liked the smoothing effect it provided to my frizzy hair but I’d seen better results from other pre-styling products, so I won’t buy the full size of this hair cream either.
Bumble and Bumble Prêt-Á-Powder Très Invisible Dry Shampoo (25 ml; GWP) – it was manufactured in August 2008, so I guess it was expired by June 2022. Not sure if its old age was the reason (it contains alcohol, so did it evaporate?) but the 25-ml bottle was only enough for ONE use. The full size is 150 ml, so… good for six applications? A bit too few for £24 IMO. On the positive side, I really enjoyed its scent and loved how fresh and clean it made my hair look and feel. It also added a bit more volume to my hair. There was a little white residue which disappeared once I brushed my hair through.
Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner (125 ml; £8.10) – it expired in May 2019 🤢 The toner had really good ingredients but the mist was not very fine, so I wouldn’t recommend spraying it over a full face of makeup, as there’s a high chance that you'll ruin it.
Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner 24H in 01 Intense Black (2.2 ml; £8.99) – I purchased it back in 2013 🙈 It got buried in my stash, and when I dug it out in... February 2020 😬 it was so dry that I had to keep using Inglot Duraline to revive it (I do confess, I still cannot bring myself to bin dead items which have a potential to be turned into zombies 🧟).
Finally, two weeks ago I scraped out the last bit of it. I really disliked the brush that this eyeliner came with – the bristles splayed out so quickly! The good news is that several years ago Maybelline upgraded their eyeliner brush into a double-ended applicator, and it is much much better. How do I know? Well, because I’ve got this other eyeliner in my stash, too! 😅
Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup in 1N1 Ivory Nude (30 ml; £25.02) – my HG foundation which expired in September 2020. It is my go-to foundation for a long day/event when I have no time/chance to blot or powder, as I know that it won’t crack or slide off even on a hot day or inside a poorly ventilated venue. However, it has a physical SPF 10 which makes it unsuitable for flash photography. Another disadvantage is that you need to purchase a pump separately, and last time I checked it cost £5.50.
