This is "Beauty addicts anonymous", a wonderful community of beauty product addicts & we have been going a hot minute... some may say we are enablers... many would say that they are much more intentional about their stashing and usage since joining this sisterhood.

I have three empties to report:

  • Mitchum triple odor defense powder fresh antiperspirant & deodorant: I really liked this, kept my pits smelling fresh BUT so much product wasted as it is now painful to use as plastic holder thing higher than product (sorry not sure if that makes sense)

  • Boots Ingredients bakuchiol serum: loved this - instantly soothing. Not sure if any good for fine lines etc but I liked it nonetheless

  • Boots Ingredients Hyaluronic Acid moisturiser: really nice - I actually really love this range

Caggie09 · 22/06/2022 20:20

A few empties this evening!

  • Caudalie Grape water mist. Or the fancy name of Eau de Raisin 😅I like this. Love how it gently mist's the face. Will RP in the future.
  • Trish McEvoy Beauty Boost serum. I didnt notice anything special with this. Got this out of a Liberty kit last year. Its not really a brand id use, but it was okay.
  • Sunday Riley Ceramic slip cleanser. I used this once a week for a 'deep' clean. My skin wasnt left feeling dry or stripped, but clean and helped with some spots. Im moving onto Cerave SA wash. But id consider getting this again.

Im also going to use my Liberty Beauty credits and buy the kit bag. It has Olaplex and Tan Luxe drops which i want to top up on. Im pretty sure ill make use of the other bits too! Also, got the £20 fragrance box from Cult, which ive justified as its basically free, as you get a £20 gift card to spend on candles or perfume anyway.

Been making good progress in terms of not buying much new, apart from an unsuccessful attempt to find a lipstick to replace one I had 20 or so years ago ... It's so difficult when there are no testers.
@Experiment627 I have the same problem with Mitchum , the case is too wide and scrapes the armpits.

Anyhoo a few empties

  • Sanctuary shower oil, very nice especially for shaving legs , lasted ages
  • Aldi bath float which smells just like Sanctuary but a fraction of the price, great stuff
  • Larry King liquid hairbrush conditioner, not as nice as my usual Tresemme
  • Fresh strawberry exfoliating face wash, love this , lovely smell and leaves face smooth
  • Sunday Riley Autocorrect eye cream: meh, nothing special
Ponks · 24/06/2022 00:30

@Caggie09 I've just congratulated myself on not buying much new, then I read your post about the Cult Beauty fragrance box and I'm about to be led astray!

Caggie09 · 24/06/2022 16:55

@Ponks It arrived today. Im pleased with it! Now i need to spend my voucher. Ill probably get a candle as i dont need any more perfume 😄

Experiment627 · 25/06/2022 07:05

@ponks so a definite design failure by Mitchum!

Have any of you lovely people heard of a "hack" for making skin amazeballs using Atrixo handcream? I know I have seen it somewhere but I cannot think where now 🙈🙈🙈 I even have a tub at the ready to try it out!!!

Experiment627 · 27/06/2022 11:24

My SIL has kindly given me some of her Bum Bum cream - feels nice on but really do not like the smell... which keeps on giving... anyhoo have 3 empties to report:

  • Boots Ingredients repair shampoo with niacinamide: my oily roots, dry ends combo really liked this shampoo, will defo RP at some point
  • Evolve bio-retinol gold mask: very dramatic look with this mask, stinks of bubblegum and I actually found quite drying...
  • Boots Ingredients retinol eye cream: lightweight but feels hydrating. In the end I used all over my face as I suddenly noticed fine lines everywhere!!!
Fraaahnces · 28/06/2022 03:11

@Experiment627 I thought I was the only one who didn’t like that smell. It’s nauseating to me - like rancid milk or something.

Experiment627 · 28/06/2022 12:22

@Fraaahnces I have enough for a second application but I just cannot face it 🙈

Fraaahnces · 28/06/2022 12:37

@Experiment627 Have to admit that I decided that since I’d spent so much, I would power on with my travel-sized one. It felt like it would never be finished, it lasted for ages even though I basted my legs, etc. (A lot of real estate). It did not produce miraculously glowing and bump-free skin. It didn’t even really moisturise. I find the Cerave thicker cream better and less offensive.

Experiment627 · 28/06/2022 12:41

I just cannot power on this time... but admire your strength @Fraaahnces
I am trying out a non-offensive smelling glycolic acid body cream from Boots at the minute - hoping that will sort bum and upper arms out. I too have a lot of real estate 🤣🤣🤣 and find it helps to break it up and use different lotions and potions on different parts... including magnesium gel - which has done nothing for my hip pain but seems to be working on my heel pain

PomRuns · 28/06/2022 15:27

I hope we’re still beauty buddies - I like the bum bum cream 🤣

Experiment627 · 28/06/2022 16:45

LOL of course we are @PomRuns BFF

Maranello · 28/06/2022 19:19

I've somehow managed never to get a BumBum cream in any of my hauls or GWP - quite the feat! Not sure if I'm tempted now though Grin

Some empties to share with you.

Eve Lom eye cream teeny tiny sample, impossible to tell if it did anything really.

Kiehls ultra facial cleanser did a perfectly reasonable job of cleaning my face but the scent really reminds me of swimming pools for some reason! Which was off putting.

White Company lime and bay hand cream gorgeous scent and texture, really liked using this.

Sunday Riley vitamin C serum loved this though the Dermalogica biolumin-C might just edge it. Am determined to try a cheaper vit C next though!

Eve Lom cleanser blast from the past, first balm cleanser I ever used and was nice to revisit, but confirmed that I do prefer Elemis and Emma Hardie (see, this is why this thread is so useful! It makes me think properly about what I'm using/buying)

Natura Bisse eye cream was tinted, didn't like it, only used once but not my thing.

Diptyque eau moheli free sample, would love more!

Margaret Dabbs hand lotion one of my all-time faves, smells amazing, sinks in beautifully. Gorgeous.

clary · 28/06/2022 21:07

Oh I love the Bum Bum cream too, please still be my friends @Fraaahnces and @Experiment627 !

i am also loving that Dermologica vit C serum @Maranello that JLP calendar was amazing, so so glad I got it as a last-minute buy. I love the Mac lippy and the Charlotte Tilbury palette too.

Maranello · 28/06/2022 23:27

@clary the pressure will be on the John Lewis beauty team for this year's calendar, for sure!

Fraaahnces · 29/06/2022 01:36

@clary & @PomRuns … No way! You’re dumped!!!😆😆😆 Wonder if it’s a body chemistry thing or just an aversion? Most people describe it as a tropical scent… I didn’t get that. Just a rancid milk fat scent that seemed to linger all day. Or maybe it was off…

FiveShelties · 29/06/2022 03:32

I have actually finished a huge can of Schwarzkopt Hairspray (400g) which I have been using for ages. I have another in the cupboard and also a couple of cans of Bristows, together with some smaller travel size cans. No idea why I have so much as I only have short hair and hardly use hairspray.

I have also finished a large bar of Imperial Leather soap and have put all the soap in one large box, I think I may need to buy some more soap in 2028. That makes 5 items used now and nothing purchased - win win😁

Experiment627 · 29/06/2022 08:23

@clary am still your BFF!
I think it might be body chemistry @Fraaahnces... in the pot the smell is ok... on it just was so yucky, definitely something rancid (probs my bum cheeks) and I would get wafts of it throughout the day.

Fraaahnces · 29/06/2022 10:33

@Experiment627 - I loooooooove pistachios (flavour and scent… although definitely ruled by stomach. My fave ice cream is pistachio praline…) I kinda took it personally that something that is supposed to smell of one of my favourite foods didn’t work with my chemistry (*don’t want to smell like curry, roast duck or stroganoff, admittedly.)

Experiment627 · 29/06/2022 10:35

Is the bum bum cream supposed to be pistachio? Did not know!

PomRuns · 29/06/2022 10:46

@Fraaahnces @Experiment627 I used the bum bum cream this morning and I think you both need to get your noses checked, smells lovely to me :)

I think there are 2 scents - the one in the yellow tub smells of summer to me, although very distinctive, a bit shea butter like? I didn't like the one in the green tub as much which I think is coconut.

@clary so agree re JL calendar.

Liberty Fig soap, Just lovely, gorgeous fragrance (nose might have been swayed by bum bum cream though) and not at all drying.

Dr Teals pink Himalayan salt scrub. Loved it and can't wait to replace when I next go to Target (August if Covid bogs off).

PomRuns · 29/06/2022 10:47

86/100
10 sachets.

Fraaahnces · 29/06/2022 11:42

I had the yellow one @PomRuns… It smelled like baby barf. It may be a scent perception thing, skin chemistry or best before date thing, or a combination. Coincidentally I don’t love the smell of vanilla and absolutely detest the scent of cinnamon. Everyone else in the universe seems to love them, but to me they are both fragrance notes I associate with morning sickness. I am very scent-oriented, though. (Can only now look watermelon in the face, and the culprit is turning 18 next week.)

PomRuns · 29/06/2022 11:49

@Fraaahnces can't eat eggs (cake is fine oddly and thankfully) or milk since DD9. Our bodies are so interesting !
