This is "Beauty addicts anonymous", a wonderful community of beauty product addicts & we have been going a hot minute... some may say we are enablers... many would say that they are much more intentional about their stashing and usage since joining this sisterhood.

I bought Aldi Lacura multi-intensive anti-ageing serum after reading rave reviews on here. Was sisappointed. It's way too pungent for me to put on my skin / near my eyes. A nice floral smell really, but SO strong! So I used it as conditioner / co-wash. My hair seems to like it.

Caggie09 · 31/01/2022 15:32

Well i managed a no buy for one whole month, i think its a first for me! I did browse the shops today, and i was tempted. But, i held out. And my big blow out shop in April will feel even better for it!!
Might have to replace some bits in Feb, but other than that, nothing will be purchased!

Only 2 empties, brings me to 45/100.

  • Lee Stafford hot choc treatments. Ive used all 4 sachets, and still dont know what exactly they have done or do for my scalp. It says self heating, only once ive had that experience. Not impressed with this range tbh. I dont see it in shops anymore, so possibly discontinued. Not suprised!!

I haven’t bought anything beauty related in January either. I did have quite a few lovely things for Christmas, and my itemisation of my stash shows that I certainly don’t need anything. Not that this has ever stopped me before! But my aim is to go as far into 2022 as possible without buying anything, and this seems like a good start.

CherryMargo · 31/01/2022 15:41

Hooray for the thread #14! 🎉 Nice to see lots of new people joining us this year! Flowers

My January empties were as follows:

  1. Nivea Happy Time Bamboo & Milk Protein Body Lotion (4 ml; GWP) – a very thin pearlescent white lotion which – allegedly – smells like orange blossom but… I could not smell as it expired YEARS 🤦‍♀️ before I opened it. It would be a great body lotion for those who live in a hot humid climate but I believe it was discontinued in 2016.

  2. Domus Olea Drain-lift Legs Cream (3 ml; GWP) – a thin white cream with an intense cooling effect (I literally felt like I put my legs into an ice bucket after I applied it! 🥶) which is designed to combat swelling and heaviness in the legs. The sachet was enough for two generous applications, but I can’t say my legs felt less heavy after using this cream. Although it would be fair to mention that I've had it in my stash since March 2018, so it was probably long expired by the time I tried it.

  3. Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm (4 ml; GWP) – I’m sure everyone here knows what it’s like ☺️ I am not a huge fan of its smell but it is a quick and easy solution for chapped winter lips. It expired in January 2021. I have another one in my stash, and it’s much fresher (received in November 2021), so it can wait until I use up some older lip balms from my stash.

Experiment627 · 31/01/2022 16:10

@Caggie09 and @WellTidy amazing! Well done!

@CherryMargo I am in awe that you kept on with something that is cooling in JANUARY!!!!!

@Experiment627 I know right?! 😆 I went for a very long walk, and my feet were killing me, so I thought it was the right time to try this cream! Who would have thought it was going to be SO CHILL! ❄️

P. S. And – me being me – I had to use it up so I applied it again the next night 😅

Experiment627 · 31/01/2022 17:15

@CherryMargo well at least it is gone now!!!!

January empties!

It seems like ages ago since I used anything up! But I've done full sized items running low coming up.....

Estée Lauder advanced night repair serum. This is a staple of mine and I love it! It keeps my dry skin balanced and hydrated. I use it between other serums as I'm testing them at present. One full size and one travel

Estée Lauder pure linen perfume. I LOVE this scent. El perfumes are hit and miss with me but this Fresh green scent has been a lovely change. On my repurchase list!

Estée Lauder refinishing facial. Really like this face scrub and have been using it in the shower. Leaves my skin soft and smooth and not dry. I like to feel a scrub once in a while even though I use aha fluids. Unfortunately it looks as though it has been discontinued. I did wonder if the product contained micro beads and tried to find out unsuccessfully. Irrelevant now I guess
*
Mural* retinol youth renewal serum. This was nice to use but was very drying. I needed a lot of moisture in top. No idea what it did as small sample. Interested to try something to compare it to! My first retinol and my sensitive skin liked it

Gosh last one was meant to say murad in bold!!!

Justilou1 · 01/02/2022 04:03

I finished a pot of cleansing balm. I’d tell you what it was, only the printing on the label kind of went manky from my greasy paws. It was an oil to water balm that had a wee bit of kaolin in it to supposedly refine the skin’s texture. I don’t think there was enough to make a difference. It was okay I guess. Not my favourite though.
I have decided to power though my “Okay, I guess…” products and just get rid.

latedecember1963 · 01/02/2022 09:13

Thank you for the new thread. Apologies for my late arrival but I've been struck down by the dreaded C19 and I've been feeling grim.
Welcome to the newbies, this is a lovely thread.
10 empties to report.
The almond hand wash was nice. I would rebuy.
Thw Wow conditioner worked well. It was part of an M and Beauty box so I probably wouldn't spend the extra money on it otherwise.
The EL makeup remover was really nice and didn't dry my skin. It was a freebie from my EL lady so I don't know the cost but I will consider buying when I've used up other cleansers.
Body Shop Vit E cream. One of my staples.
Molton Brown mini shower gels. Got these as stocking fillers, both ok.
Prai ageless handcream. Bit disappointed with this as I love the neck cream.
Emma Hardie primer from the M and S Advent calendar. Very nice, would consider buying this when I've used up others.
M and S hand cream. One of my favourites because of the smell.
Ren body wash, another Advent calendar product. I quite liked it, but it didn't wow me.

Just catching up on everyone's empties. Nice work! We'll all emerge like butterflies come spring

@Caggie09 did you enjoy the Mane and Tail shampoo and conditioner sachets? In the past few years there has been a re-surge in people swearing by this. My mum used to use it on our hair when we were very little in the 80's and 90's. Not sure why we stopped using it.

I have the lovely Percy and Reed hair wax cream @Babysharkdoodoodood . I loooove it and have even bought a few more tubes on EBay. It gives me an amazing twist out with bounce and longevity. Did you enjoy the dry shampoo? My love for the hair cream/ wax led me to buying their lavender cowash which was a nightmare! I was horrified and disappointed time and time again when I tried it, and may have chucked it out long before it finished. Now I will just stick to the hair wax. No more Percy and Reed experiments....unless.....

TeaAddict235 · 01/02/2022 19:29

Wishing you a speedy recovery @latedecember1963

Caggie09 · 01/02/2022 19:53

@TeaAddict235 yes, ive really enjoyed using them! Im actually tempted to buy full sizes once my stash is down. My hair feels so soft after using it. I dont usually get excited by shampoos, but this ses a good one!!

Justilou1 · 01/02/2022 23:19

@latedecember1963 - I hope you’re resting up as much as possible and maybe using some of that time in “Self-Care” to power through your stash!!! I do hope you feel better very soon. X

I gave up on the wax. Made my hair grim. The no oil oil is great. Have another one in the wings. Dry shampoo was meh. Love the living proof one that's due to arrive tomorrow as it actually feels like it's cleaned my hair.

I've decided to sift all my sample sachets on my next rest days as I have bloody hundreds. As well as a million perfume vials. DH got me the scent box thing from John Lewis, so that was another 25! I'm going to put them into separate little ikea bags so I have 7 days worth of cleanser, moisturiser, shampoo and shower gel in each one, then I can just grab one for my holiday weeks and have them in hand luggage. I weighed my usual wash /make up bag and it was 5kg. Grin I only have 15kg allowance for this next trip.

Experiment627 · 02/02/2022 07:48

@Babysharkdoodoodood such a good idea to make the bags up!

Bonjour mes amies.

Some empties from me:

MDO intense hydrating moisturizer, sample - got 3 goes out of it and loved it! Unfortunately when I checked out it’s full price, £80, I had to give my head a wobble.

Smash box x rated mascara - I mean it’s mascara, what’s not to like? But I didn’t. I can’t say why but I just didn’t like it and I normally love mascara.

Avon anew platinum eye cream, sample - awful. Not so much glide on as drag on. To be fair I can’t remember how long I have had it for.

Embroylisse lait creme concentrate - HG for me. Normally I use it in the summer as it’s light but I used it throughout the winter this year and it still did the trick.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 02/02/2022 11:40

Just came across this thread. I definitely need to join. I have several vaguely organised boxes full of stuff going back to advent calendars from 2017/2018 but I still keep buying. Just got a Boots order this morning which I topped up with a lift and luminate gift set that was half price so that I would get free postage. I really don't need it but it was only €22.

Right. No more purchases and I'll start posting on empties.

Welcome, @OchonAgusOchonOh! 👋

@latedecember1963 as a C19 survivor myself, I wish you a quick recovery and no long-term effects! Flowers

@Babysharkdoodoodood your words about the wash bag have reminded me of a couple of the Internet memes (please see the attached photos) 😆 I can relate so much!

Ooo want to join. Have been a lurker for a while. Nothing to show yet but I have this dream that once I get through my thirty gazillion products I can become a woman with 5 chic Chanel products sitting proudly next to the sink. Shouldn’t take long right Blush. Just to say though that I am also using that Emma Hardie SPF30 primer up thread and have nearly finished it but want to replace. Damn. The best are those you finish and think nah. Don’t need that in my life again.
