This is "Beauty addicts anonymous", a wonderful community of beauty product addicts & we have been going a hot minute... some may say we are enablers... many would say that they are much more intentional about their stashing and usage since joining this sisterhood.

@helenabonhamfarter

The body shop Hemp range is brilliant. I really like the foot cream but it's been out of stock for months. I hope that they haven't discontinued it!

I love the body shop hemp range.

This weeks empties:

13) Dr Sebagh serum repair: This came in the 2020 Liberty calendar. It was ok but I wouldn't buy it. It's got a thick sticky consistency that I don't really like. Didn't notice any difference to my skin.

14) Elemis cleansing balm: This is a lovely cleansing balm. I like the texture and smell. I wouldn't pay the full price for it though. I don't mind splurging a bit on a good serum or moisturiser, but £44 for a cleanser isn't justifiable to me. Especially since it didn't last long at all.

15) Lucia Magnani eye cream: I thought that this was too thick and heavy for an eye cream. I also found that concealer wouldn't sit on top it, even if I left it to sink in for 10-15 mins, so I ended up using it at night only. It might suit somebody who has very dry skin under their eyes, but it's not for me.

Total for the year: 15/125

@MidnightMeltdown, interesting to read your comments. I really rate the Lucia Magnani eye cream; perhaps I do have much drier under eye skin. My favourite product is the day moisturiser though.

Experiment627 · 06/02/2022 18:47

@helenabonhamfarter so sorry to hear about your cat 💐

@Justilou1 yes to stripping back - I have come off the back of The Body Shop aloe - which my skin really did not like, through Superdrug Me+ range where I have been trying out loads of different potions. With Liz Earle I have just the cleanse and polish, an eye cleanser, a skin tonic thing, day cream/night cream & SPF. I got a GWP of cica sleep cream thing - which I whacked on this morning as a mask.

If Kwicklet is kind and falls asleep soon I plan to try out a Lush mask - I think it is called Beauty Sleep. Unfortunately I cannot use a mask when he is awake as he gets all upset.

@AprilLady

I have a Lucia Magnani moisturiser in the stash but haven't opened it yet (I have a ridiculous number of moisturisers to use up so it's in the queue!).

The eye cream was ok, I just found it a bit heavy. I'm in my mid 30s and I don't really have any wrinkles or other issues with my eye area yet (aside from dark circles), so I think this product was just a bit too much for me. I'm using the Rodial Vit C eye soufflé now and I much prefer it. It's a lighter cream, sinks in better, and doesn't cause problems when applying makeup over the top.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 06/02/2022 21:19

@helenabonhamfarter sorry to hear about your cat. As a fellow cat lover I know how the little blighters steal into our hearts without even realizing.

Justilou1 · 06/02/2022 23:38

@helenabonhamfarter - so sorry about your Kitty! Pets are the best family! Hope you are feeling a little more at peace now. X

@Experiment627 - I am not a fan of BS face products. Definitely over-promise and under-deliver. (Also low on the science side.)

afaloren · 07/02/2022 12:52

Empties: Oskia London Renaissance Mask. I absolutely loved this. Really left the skin smooth and glowing. Would repurchase but I have umpteen other masks to work through first.

Shiseido Vital Perfection Crème. Idk about this. I got a small pot in the CB advent calendar but I understand the full size is very expensive. It smelled nice but I can’t say I felt a difference from more reasonable priced creams.

Ponks · 08/02/2022 23:05

Couple of deluxe sample sizes from GWP:

  • Versed Overnight Facial, hmmm I can't say I noticed any difference when I woke up. So I wouldn't bother repurchasing. I prefer retinols to acids I think.
  • Drunk Elephant F Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Hydration Mask .... bit of a mouthful, but basically an overnight moisturiser. Ok but I generally prefer something a bit richer. Ended up using it mixed with foundation drops as a tinted moisturiser.
  • Boots Lift day moisturiser, I like this a lot as a nice basic moisturiser. Don't think it makes any grand claims, it's just pleasant to use and does its job . Will probably repurchase one day when the stash has gone down a bit.
AprilLady · 09/02/2022 17:45

@afaloren, I also really like the Oskia Renaissance Mask. At the risk of going against the spirit of the thread (to use things up, not acquire more!) I’d highly recommend this kit:

www.flannels.com/flannels-beauty-melissas-wardrobe-rest-and-reset-with-mel---worth-over-190-717899#colcode=71789969

which is great value if you like the Oskia mask and the Eve Lom cleanser.

Maranello · 09/02/2022 20:42

Dammit @AprilLady I've just ordered that Flannels edit! I really am using up my stash but that is such a good offer.

WellTidy · 09/02/2022 21:05

An empty: Elemis frangipani manoi body oil 35ml (from the Elemis advent in 2019 or so). Really lovely, you had to warm the product before using it and a little went a long way. I think 35ml did my entire body maybe 7-10 times. If I didn’t genuinely have four years’ body moisturiser in the stash, I would absolutely RP.

supadupapupascupa · 09/02/2022 22:20

Eugh looks like my list of empties will be greatly diminished. My under eyes are puffy, dried out, sore and itchy. My forehead is flaking. Something is not agreeing! Having to strip right back to votary super seed and reintroduce one by one.......,,

Justilou1 · 10/02/2022 00:01

Is it just me, or does everything seem to get manky all in one go? (Maybe it’s the weather, maybe I bought everything in one fell swoop….) My iT Cosmetics CC Cream has decided that all it’s ingredients need to divorce. Bleurgh. My concealer has turned Big Bird yellow. WTAF?!?. I don’t have another foundation or concealer. (Who knew I didn’t have backups?) Now what? I think I need to investigate a foundation with more coverage that can be sheered out with my sunscreen for a day to day look.

Experiment627 · 10/02/2022 06:51

@supadupapupascupa so sorry about your skin situation! Hope you find the culprit soon!

@Justilou1 let us know how you get on with your foundation quest. I too am looking for a new one and am thinking of trying Fenty - I have checked the ingredients and they do not appear to contain the verboten cyclopentasiloxane.

I am currently all on Liz Earle... not feeling the love that much but still considering supplementing with theor new cleanser oil thing 🙈🙈🙈

Justilou1 · 10/02/2022 08:24

@Experiment627 - I’m all for cleansing oils, but just remember that your acid mantle is probably damaged atm. Oil cleansers are heavy duty. I would go very slowly before introducing anything atm.

Experiment627 · 10/02/2022 08:26

Thanks @Justilou1! So probably not a good plan to whack on The Ordinary peeling thing? 🤪🤪🤪🤪

Good to see that you are all avidly taking care of yourselves Grin product reviews cheer me up and stave off my curiosity Blush

I finished one (of two in my stash) of my favourite hair conditioners at the mo: Garnier Whole Blends in Maple Syrup and Castor oil . It is so nourishing and delicious smelling for my curls. I bought it during a supermarket dash just before the first lockdown, and they were on offer at Morrisons. I'm yet to see the 400ml bottles again for £1, and the maple scent seems to all but disappeared from the shelves. I found the shampoo when visiting family, and snatched it up whilst picking up groceries. DH promised that we would drive back to that supermarket , but surprise, surprise, we didn't. None of the local supermarkets seem to have it. I refuse to pay Ebay prices from extortionists.

Does anyone know what to do with cream with SPF that leaves a white sheen? I have a scent free cream that i got from Trader Joes in 2019 and have recently started to use, but it leaves an annoying white screen and can pill. Might have to chuck it if nothing can be done.

I’m having a skin nightmare too (poor me etc) - entire face has broken out in acne. This happened to me back in September (but worse then), and I was prescribed a brilliant magic cream to use at night (no sun exposure) and it completely erased it in five days and also took my fine lines with it. They came back when I stopped using the cream obvs, but the cream isn’t doing its job after five days this time and I’m miserable, look a mess (can’t put make up on to cover it) and can’t use any of my lovely products.

Yuk.

Justilou1 · 10/02/2022 10:21

@TeaAddict235 - even without the white cast and pilling, it’s probably way past it’s use-by date. Ditch it and get a more up-to-date formula that makes you happy. Sunscreen is worth investing in. Always.

Justilou1 · 10/02/2022 10:22

@WellTidy - do you have rosacea? Is it flaring up because of the change of seasons? You might need some Soolantra cream from GP.

TeaAddict235 · 10/02/2022 10:32

Thanks @Justilou1 , gone!
Sorry to hear that @WellTidy . It sounds frustrating, and sore. Have you introduced anything new into your skin care regime recently? Could it be that? Or have you changed washing powder? The constant direct contact with your pillow at night might be an irritation. But please just ignore my suggestions if they seem like nonsense.

WellTidy · 10/02/2022 11:20

Thanks for the sympathy, both Smile. GP ruled out rosacea in September, but now I’m thinking that maybe I should see a dermatologist privately. I don’t want this every four months (or the possibility of more frequently). Feeling really crap about myself. I’ve always had good skin (in terms of no spots, I absolutely look my age) and this is such a shock.
