This is "Beauty addicts anonymous", a wonderful community of beauty product addicts & we have been going a hot minute... some may say we are enablers... many would say that they are much more intentional about their stashing and usage since joining this sisterhood.

A few more empties:

53) Omorovicza Illuminating Moisturiser: Came in an advent calendar. Nice enough, but it's just a light moisturiser which smells of essential oils. Nothing special to make it worth the crazy price tag. Certainly not 'illuminating'.

54) Drunk Elephant Glycolic Night Serum: OK, couldn't tell if it did anything

55) Concealer I bought this in Superdrug when I forgot to take my usual concealer to work. I don't know what brand it is because it's worn off, but it was pretty good. Liked the shade.

@PomRuns

I've often read that it doesn't matter which moisturiser you use. Experts often say that you should spend your money on a good serum, and just buy a cheap moisturiser.

Some dermatologists say that we don't need moisturiser at all, and that moisturiser actually ages the skin. They say that it makes the skin lazy and traps dead skin cells on the surface. If you give up moisturiser for a couple of months your skin is supposed to start producing its own natural oils.

I was thinking about giving moisturiser up, but I have an enormous stash of them to use up first!!

PomRuns · 19/05/2022 18:02

@MidnightMeltdown that’s really interesting. My skin is very dry though- wouldn’t want to risk being prune like. It probably makes sense re the serum.

I had that illuminating moisturiser too and didn’t rate it. I’m always out off that oromoro

PomRuns · 19/05/2022 18:06

Put off that brand ornorovisca- as I read an interview where the owners were laughing about how much people pay for their products.

Fraaahnces · 19/05/2022 23:17

@PomRuns - I will never understand why people rave about their “thermal water mist” - all water has minerals unless it’s demineralised. Who would pay that for bloody water? (Same with Avene and Evian, etc…) so your comment about them laughing makes sense. (Btw, I do use a ceramide mist when my skin is dry, and it’s awesome, but I’m happy to pay for ACTIVES.)

LivingDeadGirlUK · 20/05/2022 03:04

Superdrug vitamin E night cream finished, I love the smell of the vitamin E range so much but I've got combination skin so not sure about trying it for daytime products, might not work with my oily patches. I have a pure one to use next.

Experiment627 · 20/05/2022 06:48

I have been trying to post through the app but I just get "failed message". I will try reloading the app and see if that helps. I made screenshots of what I wrote - lets see of I can load them from my PC.

I have one empty:

  • La Petit Marseillais orange flower shower gel: this was ok but I prefer a stronger scent, one that sticks around longer on the skin

@PomRuns that's shocking about Omorovicza! 😲

Mind you, at least they're open about it. The vast majority of beauty products are very cheap to make. I've had a few Omorovicza products in beauty boxes and calendars, but I wouldn't pay their prices.

I think I would be fine without moisturiser in the summer. I didn't really start wearing it regularly until I hit my 30s and decided that I needed a proper skin care regime. Apparently only about 15% of people (with genetically very dry skin) actually need a moisturiser.

I've probably got about 3 years worth of in my stash though, so I won't be ditching it anytime soon!

Fraaahnces · 20/05/2022 13:00

@Experiment627 - if you have some of the “milkier” Le Petit Marseillaise, I think they linger longer. (I had a lovely almond blossom one.) I think they are scented to be enjoyed while in use, but not to hang around. (One does not wish to clash with one’s parfum, n’est-ce pas?)

Experiment627 · 20/05/2022 15:21

oui c'est vrai @Fraaahnces although I adore smelling of Nivea, which is what my body lotion is currently
Having my hair cut today - cannot actually remember last time so probably was last year.

Fraaahnces · 21/05/2022 04:17

I will admit that I also love the scent of Nivea. It reminds me of my lovely grandmother who was “my person” when I was growing up. (She used it on her hands every time she washed the dishes. She had lovely skin, but never wore it on her face.)

Deathraystare · 21/05/2022 09:14

@Fraaahnces

Besides, would have to get rid of the current DH first and apart from the snoring and not being a bajillionaire, he’s alright.

Praise indeed!

Fraaahnces · 21/05/2022 11:20

@Deathraystare - I’m a romantic at heart 🤣🤣🤣

Ponks · 22/05/2022 10:50

Some recent empties:

Yet another Prai neck cream, the night version, in a mega size tub. I notice the difference in my neck if I don't use it so I've already bought another mega tub on a great Look Fantastic deal. Very happy with this.

Kiehls Vital Skin Strengthening Serum: I'd had some samples of this and had loved them but the full size bottle seemed a bit different, not so keen on the smell. Used up by mixing with a vitamin c oil. Probably won't repurchase.

Aldi Rejuvelate night cream, a decent enough moisturiser and so cheap, no complaints here.

Bobbi Brown Smokey eye mascara: improved with age and had to force myself to throw it out after a year. Blush

Ultra Violette Supreme Screen SPF: absolutely gorgeous feel, very hydrating, brilliant pump tube - when I did my usual cutting the tube in half to get out the dregs, there were hardly any dregs as the pump was so efficient. Intending to repurchase but have a few other SPFs to get through ( gave in to the recent Cult Beauty SPF box).

MidnightMeltdown · 22/05/2022 13:37

More empties from me too. Think I'm making up for last months empties drought. These are all advent calendar/ beauty box items.

56) Emma Hardie Moringa cleansing balm - quite liked this but it didn't last long. It has a false bottom so there is a lot less in there that it looks. I HATE it when brands do things like this. Not only is it deception, it's also a waste of packaging.

57) Avant eye serum - not bad, I think I prefer a serum to cream on my eye area. Wouldn't pay Avant prices for one though

58) Omorovicza clay mask - Another Omorovicza product! As far a clay masks go this is a nice one. Definitely not worth 70 odd pounds though!

59) Doctors cosmeceutical night cream - Another over packaged product. This was a really strange cream. It had the texture of mousse, smelled like a hair product, and was sticky like a hair product. I used it up but I wouldn't buy it.

Nouveaunew · 22/05/2022 15:17

Wow lots of quality empties there! It’s almost tempting!! … but not … I’m so glad I’m finally working through my multitude of products.

Two empties:

1: Lush Angels on Bare Skin cleanser This was a lovely cleanser for the shower as it leaves a lot of grains on the skin. I felt so lovely and clean after it. Would RP (but going to work through my other cleansers first!).
2: Faith in Nature grapefruit and orange shampoo This was a nice shampoo which washed my hair well! I had hair loss and it’s been growing back. I’ve tried different things (supplements, other shampoos too at the same time) so it’s hard to know what exactly helped but it certainly didn’t do any harm. I would RP as it’s good value and lasted ages.

supadupapupascupa · 22/05/2022 15:33

How does everyone keep tabs on what the intend to repurchase etc?

I got myself a book and leave reviews for everything in my stash. I mark what I want to repurchase. It's organised by type (face cream, masks, serum etc)

Is there a better way?

Nouveaunew · 22/05/2022 22:27

@supadupapupascupa
i can’t imagine a better way than that.

Maranello · 22/05/2022 23:22

@supadupapupascupa I use Notes on my phone but I only write down the things I've liked - which I suppose might mean I could inadvertently buy a duff product again if I lose track. I'll have to rely on my posts on this thread then!

A nice pile of empties here.

REN instant firming beauty shot Did absolutely nothing.

Olaplex No 0 love the conditioner but this was faffy and my hair still felt pretty flyaway. Perhaps it is beyond help.

Algenist eye serum quite liked this but it'll be a while till I need to buy an eye cream given the size of my stash so no need to consider a RP.

Omorovicza diamond concentrate from the Liberty beauty drop. Made my face feel super smooth immediately but such a small sample it's impossible to tell if it'd have longer-term effects.

Chantecaille rose de mai cream thought this was nice, checked the price, 80-odd quid, ha no way.

Aveeno skin relief love this, HG for me, smooths bumpy upper arms.

Nivea soft moisturising cream bought on holiday when I forgot to take a body cream; very nice but doesn't beat Aveeno for me.

Clinique moisture surge love love love. Already have another one.

Dermalogica biolumin-C serum another hit from the John Lewis advent. Absolutely loved this but it's my first vitamin C serum so I figured I'd better try something cheaper before RP. Will see how that goes!

Maranello · 22/05/2022 23:23

Mistyped that Chantecaille price - it's ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-ODD quid!

Experiment627 · 23/05/2022 09:47

@supadupapupascupa I have a list in a Word doc where I list any products I have really liked. I probably need to start an Epic Fails list!

I have one empty:

  • Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glow soothing face cream: I LOVE this. Faint smell, think coconutty. This is so rich - really great when my face is feeling sore or tight. I will defo RP at some point.

Fraaahnces · 23/05/2022 11:41

@maranello I have a crush on the Chantecaille Giraffe Eyeshadow Quad. It looks utterly perfect for me. I’m currently eyeing off my kids and wondering who would have the juiciest kidney to sell. Meanwhile, that cream is about $320Aud. Ummmmm…. WOW!

PomRuns · 23/05/2022 14:29

@Fraaahnces had to google the quad, £70 in the uk. Looks lovely !

I keep a list in my personal planner. I'm down to 80 ish unopened products now - would have been 60 but I fell over in Liberty and. had to buy the things I squashed (sort of).

People who purchased the liberty hair box, how are you finding the oil? Used twice and hair quite swishy I think.

Experiment627 · 24/05/2022 06:42

@PomRuns swishy hair 🤩

So I deleted the app and reinstalled- hoping this means I can restart posting from my phone.

I have one empty:

  • CeraVe SA renewing foot cream: some fabulous person on this thread recommended this as a hand cream - it is amazeballs! Really softens and soothes! By far and away the best CeraVe product I have tried. I have SO many hand creams in my stash, and have cracked open a Garnier one. I typically have hand cream in the living room and bathroom so easy to reach for.
OchonAgusOchonOh · 24/05/2022 09:11

Organic Pharmacy Retinol - didn't seem to do anything particularly.

Ritual of Sakura body cream - love this.

Molton Brown ylang ylang shower gel. Meh. Doesn't smell of ylang ylang so disappointing as I love ylang-ylang.
