This is "Beauty addicts anonymous", a wonderful community of beauty product addicts & we have been going a hot minute... some may say we are enablers... many would say that they are much more intentional about their stashing and usage since joining this sisterhood.

@Purpleavocado ahh I see! I've never had any skin issues really and I'm generally quite hardy so hoping to avoid any hideous repercussions.

I used it for the first time last night and I can definitely feel that there is something more 'hardcore' on my face.

I liked the look of the dosing of skin + me, the only thing that swayed me to Dermatica was it was slightly cheaper as a test for tret.

Glad your skin has settled!

Fraaahnces · 31/03/2022 12:41

@daisyjgrey- if you can feel it, go slow. Twice a week for a month. You don’t want to look burnt.

Purpleavocado · 31/03/2022 12:45

Definitely take it easy! I have been using tret on and off for ages, its so much easier now you can buy it directly in the UK.

Mackemlass79 · 31/03/2022 15:41

Thank you all for your kindness and words of condolence I'm just 5 months in and trying hard to find some sort of normal in my days. Had a bit of a make up and perfume clear out (had way too much of both) gave make up to family members no idea what was in the huge bag I decided to give away and threw out 4 perfumes this morning that quite honestly were so old they were probably pure alcohol so now I only have what I believe I will use (let's all laugh together at that 😂😂😂) so time to start giving myself some self care and getting thru my remaining (still excessive) beauty and skin care products

Caggie09 · 31/03/2022 19:13

@Mackemlass79 so sorry for your lossFlowers I too probaly have a few perfumes in my stash that will reek of pure alcohol! I have so many to sniff them all though🤣

Empties. 86/100 Just over 2 weeks to my big birthday splurge. I dont think ill make 100, will be close though!!

  • Dead sea hemp and coconut bubble bath. Picked this up from HomeBargains for aroumd £1.50. Love this, ill be picking more up for sure. The smell isnt overpowering with coconut. I like to think im on a tropical island when i use it. Lots of bubbles that last ages too.
  • Honey sheet mask.
  • La Roche Posay serozinc mist. Didnt think this would suit my skin and i assumed it would dry my skin up when i seen it contained zinc. Defiantly didnt expect to like it so much, worked well for my skin! Nice gentle mist too the face not like im getting a hose to the face either! Id RP this if on offer!
  • DDG Universal daily peel pads x3. I got these from SpaceNK when they give you 3 products for your birthday. DDG is one of my favourite brands. The extra strength are my HG, but as im still wary about my face after last year, im weaning myself back to extra strength. These are brill, its like it resets your full face. I notice my skin looks bright, clear and smooth after ive used these. I use once a week, and couldnt be without these now. Ive never had any irratation when ive used them either!

@Caggie09 - you’re going great guns! I’d be using everything as body treatments too. (Actually, I am…)
What are you intending to splurge on???

PomRuns · 01/04/2022 09:15

Wow @Caggie09 also interested in your intended purchases.

Thisworks deep pillow spray - not sure if it does anything, nice smell though.

Origins Ginzing eye cream, I really liked this ad does brighten and depuff as claimed although this isn’t a problem area for me. Any ideas for my ageing forehead ? 😟

I've finished a 30ml Percy and Reed Wonder Balm. I was a bit meh about this to start but its actually quite nice when I blow dry my hair (only in winter) does nothing when I air dry though. I've got another big tube of this from the M&S calendar to use but I'm going to try and use up some other sample size/dregs of hair products first. I've a lot in the stash considering I only style my hair a couple of times a week.

Maranello · 01/04/2022 14:00

@Mackemlass79 condolences on your loss. I hope the self-care helps you feel more "you" again.

A bunch of empties here.

Aromatherapy Associates de-stress muscle gel Didn't really do much for my (admittedly awful) muscles but smelt nice.

Estée Lauder advanced night repair Got this in the John Lewis beauty advent and LOVE it. Have already repurchased but am going to try to use up some other products before opening that.

Clinique wrinkle correcting serum fine but not really a big enough tube to see any results/changes.

Clinique turnaround overnight/turnaround daytime Still yet to meet a Clinique moisturiser I didn't like and would happily use again if they turn up in a beauty box or GWP but for RP I think the moisture surge gel and the nightwear cream edge it for me.

ooh that looks lovely @Caggie09

@Maranello I've just opened that EL serum, interested to compare with Claris double wear.

Fraaahnces · 01/04/2022 19:08

Ooooh! Sounds wonderful @Caggie09! I have a yucky significant bday staring me in the face too. Still working out what I want!

MidnightMeltdown · 02/04/2022 01:26

Empties update:

38) Original Source Plant Based Body Wash - I quite liked this. The scent is subtle but pleasant enough. I found that it didn't lather quite as much as regular body wash, so I ended up using more of it and got through the bottle quite quickly (often find this with the more natural products). Like the fact that it's 96% natural (although I don't know what percentage regular body wash is!).

39) Ecooking Neck and Décolleté Cream - this came in a beauty box at some point. I don't really believe in using a separate neck cream, but have to say that this cream is a lovely consistency, as was the foot cream I tried from Ecooking. Would really like to try their face creams once I've cleared some space in the stash.

40) Ecooking Vitamin C Serum - ok, nothing special. Probably won't RP.

41) Leonor Greyl Hair Mask - my hair is very thick and fairly long, and I found that I had to use a LOT of this detangle my hair. This 50ml size only lasted me 3 uses. Wouldn't RP, but it's not bad once you get enough product in your hair!

Total for year: 41/125

I really like that shower gel @MidnightMeltdown such a good every day find.

sukin body lotion. Was fine, wouldn't repurchase, not as good as my usual Garnier.

skin laundry hydrating skin mask, was very hydrating, I liked it but probably not enough to use my own money ! Was in AC item.

Molton Brown Pink pepper wash 100ml. I do liked the MB shower gels but I find the lotions are moisturising.

Empties!

MAC Magic extensions mascara - came as part of the Boots spectacular doodad last year. It's ok, not amazing. I've replaced with a new Maybelline one which is exponentially better.

Dwtn Paris cream (liquid?) blush - came in a Glossybox. I didn't finish it. The colour was nice and it was ok but I got sick of how patchy it was to blend. I gave up after about 2/3 of the tube.

Ambre Solaire super uv spf 50 - bought this as I'd run out of the spf 30 Beauty Pie I'd been using. Thought it was worth a bash as I wanted a higher spf and I'd heard it was a dupe for the LRP facial spf. I really really like this. It's got a good texture, absorbs well, doesn't pill, doesn't burn my eyes and it's not greasy on my face or hands. I bought three more on a recent 3 for 2, I've told myself spf doesn't count in a stash, it's essentially healthcare...

Tret update!

I did what the lovely and helpful @Fraaahnces suggested and went for a twice a week approach (second application was last night). I kept using the normal Inkey list retinol my face is used to on the in between days as I thought that might help keep up some resistance.

I did realise that before the first application I'd used an oil to milk cleanser and followed it with the Cerave SA cleanser. So this time I mugged off the SA cleanser and just used the oil to milk, then did the Dermatica routine and it was much better. I'm not sure if that's because it's the second shot or because I hadn't used the SA beforehand but either way, my face didn't feel like it had bees on. Win!

There's no redness this morning but I've definitely started to very finely peel. No purging in regards to spots or anything (I don't really get them anyway) but there's a fine layer of peeling on my chin and cheekbones.

I've got so much Cicaplast and spf on today, that if I don't wake up tomorrow and look twelve, I'll be furious!

TheChosenTwo · 03/04/2022 14:48

Couple of empties for me today, L’Oréal wonder water stuff, love it but only use once a week as I’m not convinced it’s good for my hair but I love what it does Grin
And a tube of dermatica, not going through it as quickly as once a month so have changed my settings to once every 7 weeks. Like it and will keep it in my routine.

Fraaahnces · 04/04/2022 08:57

We don’t yet have the L’Oreal Wonder Water in Aus. We have a Schwarzkopf version. It smells great, but it makes my hair greasy AF. (I guess that’s a miracle. Normally it’s a tundra-like birds nest.)
What Byredo perfume do you want for your bday @Caggie09?

OchonAgusOchonOh · 05/04/2022 09:48

Finished off my usual morning serum, Boots ingredients bajuchiol. I like this and will continue using.

The ordinary argireline solution. This might as well have been water for all it did.

Diptique conditioner. I was totally underwhelmed by the Diptique products. I still have a body lotion and shower gel to get through. Hopefully they'll be a bit better than the shampoo and conditioner.

That’s disappointing @OchonAgusOchonOh the candles are so nice.

Random question.
DS is 11, do you think I should get him a face wash ? All fine with skin so far 🤞

OchonAgusOchonOh · 05/04/2022 10:59

I think they just didn't suit me. The shampoo seemed to irritate my scalp a little and I found the conditioner a bit watery.

Probably no harm to get him using one if he wants to. However, neither of my ds' used one consistently.

Fraaahnces · 05/04/2022 11:47

@PomRuns if you do, make sure it’s something totally benign like Cerave or something. You don’t want to create issues where there aren’t any.

PomRuns · 05/04/2022 11:50

@OchonAgusOchonOh @Fraaahnces

I could get him some Cerave or Nivea? or wait of course, probably another thing I will needlessly worry about, my parents were a bit uninterested so I think I make up for it !

Caggie09 · 05/04/2022 12:45

@fraaahnces ive gone with Sundazed. I bought it blind as i dont have any department stores in my city to test them out. The notes sound up my street, so hopefully i like it🤓 I did use my Liberty beauty drop money ive saved up too so paid £14!
