This is "Beauty addicts anonymous", a wonderful community of beauty product addicts & we have been going a hot minute... some may say we are enablers... many would say that they are much more intentional about their stashing and usage since joining this sisterhood.

@MrOllivander
Wow that’s a lot of empties

clary · 27/03/2022 18:35

@OchonAgusOchonOh

Forgot this one. It's fine in terms of moisturising ability but it smells vaguely is vomit so won't be rp'ing. Luckily the smell disappears as soon as it's rubbed in.

I'm also using a REN night cream and that also smells similar. Think they need to get someone new I charge of perfuming.

I thought that about something from REN too. But I love the AHA tonic from them so it's a puzzler
PomRuns · 27/03/2022 18:39

Pure Face cream 50mls (M&S AC). Would not repurchase, felt like a cheap moisturiser.

Molton Brown Pink pepper shower gel - love this fragrance.

Aussie SOS heat saviour - was fine.

Dermalogica invisible physical defence spf 30 - was awful, didn't;t absorb. Used on my arms to finish up.

Murad AHA/BHA exfolaiting cleanser 15ml. I'd be tempted to purchase, size wasn't big enough to know if really made a difference.

Clarins Blue orchid face oil. Loved it, definite repurchase, have 2 other to use up first.

44/100
5 sachets.

Experiment627 · 27/03/2022 20:33

@PomRuns that Murad cleanser is HG for me... must treat myself to some more soon!

@Experiment627 interesting. Murad products are generally good I think. I’ve just opened a Kate Somerville cleanser which I really like.

daisyjgrey · 29/03/2022 13:47

I took the plunge and signed up to Dermatica to give it a bash. I've just had the email through and the formula they've put together for month 1 is 0.015% tret, 4% niacinamide and 4% azelaic acid.

Obviously I'll stick to the face full of spf but I was wondering if there is anything I need to leave out/include in my normal routine. Usually I'd use the PC exfoliant liquid, hyaluronic acid, retinol and retinol eye cream (obvs will omit this now) and I've been using LRP cicaplast as a night moisturiser. In the morning it's just a moisturiser and spf. Any suggestions about what to keep/put on hold or even add?

TheChosenTwo · 29/03/2022 14:47

@daisyjgrey since starting dermatica in October I’ve stripped my skincare right back. I hardly use anything now!
In the morning I cleanse, use a face misting toner, sometimes some vitamin c (just trying to use up all these serums I’ve collected now), moisturiser and spf. Night time it’s cleanser, wait 30 minutes and then dermatica. That’s it.
Occasionally I’ll skip the dermatica and use an acid in the evenings but maybe once a week.
I had so much redundant skincare all brand new sitting in my drawers but I’ve passed most of it on now!

Fraaahnces · 30/03/2022 10:38

I would start by using it every second day. (It’s a low tret dosage, but you could still develop irritation.) Cicaplast is perfect. Vitamin C in the morning also good. You can still use your retinol around your eyes if you keep the retinol around your eyes on the days you’re not using Dermatica.

daisyjgrey · 30/03/2022 10:51

@Fraaahnces @TheChosenTwo fantastic, thank you!

Keeping my fingers crossed my face doesn't fall off like a bad 80's horror film now!

Fraaahnces · 30/03/2022 13:58

If it feels like it’s causing irritation, drop it back immediately to 2x per week. Don’t be afraid to introduce it very slowly. Shouldn’t be an issue though.

Hi ladies well what can I say apologies for my long absence however I have had a huge personal tragedy in losing my partner to a covid pneumonia related heart attack back in Oct last yr so as u can imagine I have been all over the place and skin care unfqct any self care at all has just totally not been on my radar. Oh gosh sorry for all of that coming out far more information than u all needed. Anyway I'm now 22 wks in (today) and in a very slightly better head space so I'm back to (mainly lurk) hopefully join in with u all and start up my self care again lord knows I think I need it

Fraaahnces · 30/03/2022 19:01

You absolutely deserve that and more @Mackemlass79! So terribly sorry for your loss! Words simply aren’t adequate.

TeaAddict235 · 30/03/2022 19:15

A picture of my most recent empties, then will go back to read through the much advanced thread!
Loved the Kneipp face serum and the shisheido tester cream. Would rebuy the Kneipp and will forever hold a special place in my heart for the unaffordable Shisheido products, but not a place in my purse. The eye cream with a yellow lid was a grab and go purchase. Not sure that it made much of a difference to my 3 under 8s including a 1 year old - tired eyes.

Just wanted to add @Nouveaunew , going to the local independent chemist is such a treat in an odd way. You can find hard to source products, forgotten or discontinued items, or just buy something on a whim, and it is so exciting. I do hope the local chemists/ pharmacists know what a treat they are. Not to forget the whistle lollies that the kids love Blush

@TeaAddict235
The local chemists are my downfall! .. as well as GWPs … and beauty boxes … and online beauty sites … and department stores and and and …

Nouveaunew · 30/03/2022 22:03

Star Empty alert Star

Alpha H Liquid Gold: I like it and it lasts a long time (if you don’t leave it open and unattended and a large spill ensues, as happened to me). It definitely exfoliates intensely and seemed to keep my skin clear. I used it every second day and not long after use, my skin looked plumper. This was short-lived … but still! I’m definitely going to keep it as part of my beauty regimen (which is fairly minimal and eclectic right now as it just involves using up what I own).

Ponks · 30/03/2022 22:06

No empties but just wanted to give @Mackemlass79 a bit of a virtual hug.

PomRuns · 30/03/2022 22:06

@Mackemlass79 I am so sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself.

Nouveaunew · 30/03/2022 22:09

I hadn’t seen your previous post when I posted above. I’m so sorry for your devastating loss. FlowersDaffodil

TeaAddict235 · 31/03/2022 06:21

Bless you @Mackemlass79 . Wishing you all the best in strength and kindness to yourself.

Purpleavocado · 31/03/2022 10:31

Sorry to hear that @mackemlass79, so sorry for your loss

Purpleavocado · 31/03/2022 10:31

Quite a few items since my last update:
VO5 Big Volume Mousse 200ml – this was a good mousse, not too sticky.
Wella Shockwaves Ultra Strong Hairspray 250ml – good firm hairspray, worked well in the windy winter!
Color Wow Dreamcoat 200ml – Ridiculously old, I’m guessing two years. Wouldn’t bother with it again.
Avon Anew Ultimate Night Restoring Cream 50ml – nice enough night cream, not irritating when used after Tret
Eborian BB Cream sample, shade Nude – this was really nice, good coverage. I normally just use tinted sunscreen when WFH, but I’d consider using this as more of a foundation. I have some foundations to use up first though.
eSalon Tint Rinse Boost 115ml – I’m growing out all my dye and haven’t coloured since December last year but had this left in my stash. I don’t think it did a lot.
Sure Advanced Protection roll on – not exciting! Good deodorant
Dermatica Tret – my last one, I’ve moved on to Skin + Me now
Perfume Parlour roll on version of Aura. This was nice.
4 samples/minis
1 small perfume roll on
14 full size products including 3 perfumes

daisyjgrey · 31/03/2022 10:44

@Purpleavocado can I ask how you found Dermatica and why you've switched to skin + me? I've just started Dermatica and grateful for all info!

Purpleavocado · 31/03/2022 12:17

@daisyjgrey I used Dermatica for 6 months. I developed perioral dermatitis (unrelated, I've had it before). I wanted to take a break from any extreme skin care as I was on antibiotics. I remember speaking to their customer services at the time to cancel for a few months, and found them really rude, saying I might have to pay for an assessment when I restarted. I didn't like their attitude so switched to Skin + Me when my skin was back to normal. The SM doser is better, I like the twist. Both formulas seem really similar.
