P.S. I understand what you mean about stiffness, bo, it is probably the wrong term. But you know, the solidity of the front flap on some of expensive bags, I haven't encountered in bags under £100 which tend to be soft. Of course it's design&material as you say but I would have thought design is often copied / material mimicked but for some things it is not happening, although I would imagine it could still appeal to a large market. [or maybe it is happening but i haven't noticed]
Similarly, I bought MH trousers recently, and her cotton drill is so thick, they literally almost stand by themselves
, although not designed to be "sculptural" explicitly.
In terms of internet shopping, we seem to be in a new reality, especially post-brexit in Britain and post-covid where lots of small independent shops have shut down and only operate online. I do rely on them to buy scandi things as they are long enough on me, or German things for the kids. But even English lingerie places like Ayten Gasson have moved entirely online. It just transforms the realm of possibility; while one can still go to shops (if living in or next to a big city), it is mainly big brands or the ones that have substantial representation in Britain that one can find. I do lament the loss of international dimension post-brexit, the extra costs, taxes, the loss of ease with which I could get Danish tights and Swedish trousers ... And then doing it all online just transforms everything, how much you spend, what you actually tend to buy (tops instead of trousers, light and bright colours instead of black, wrong colours, the question of decision-making, whether this is exactly right or just ok) It also in many ways removes the discovery of something you didn't expect
