For those who do their own - any advice please for beginners? Best polish, techniques, etc?

All the photos look so lovely and I'm feeling inspired but won't be able to get mine professionally done for various reasons. This is such a fun thread (glad I missed whatever the deleleted post was, though ).

Rimmel 60 seconds - cheap, dries so fast and a decent enough range of shades.

I don't like mine.. I wanted white ombre but was misunderstood and got beige ombre that look to me like nicotine fingers 😕

@Elvisismycat you should of said pink and white ombre. You do have white ombre. They used a neutral colour instead of pink x

I've done mine myself with Essie gel effect polish. They last about 5 days. I've gone for mint green.

@Elvisismycat if you can get your hands on some of this it'll sort your nails out. It's magic stuff, will take the yellow out of the beige and make it look more pink...

I went for gold sparkle, they won’t get done again until 3rd January and I wanted a colour to see me through into New Year.

Black and gold glitter here. They're tacky as hell but I kind of love them

Went for red. They're a few weeks old now but keeping them till next week

DIY gel - Mylee Cappuccino. Despite the name the colour is more of a deep rich burgundy but without the purple undertones tones many burgundy polishes have. Picture doesn't really do the colour justice. Been on close to a fortnight and still going strong. 😊

I got flash sparkle reds for chrimbo. Have attached 2 photos because the sparkles really come out under bright light.
Not to everyone's taste but I don't give a shit each to their own

Diy so don’t look too closely at the awful cuticles.
Had Christmas red until the other day so gone for hot pink for Christmas Day.

Sparkly and green for me. I got my toes done in a shimmery silver too (Slytherin colours, as usual 🤣🤣)
