Or have you just painted them yourself? Or do you not bother getting them done for Christmas at all? Let's have a look Smile

As a matter of fact, I cut them yesterday.

whiteonesugar · 22/12/2021 14:16

Yes! I did have a dark glittery red but went neutral for Christmas / new year with a tiny bit of sparkle. Love them.

@Lovinglife45

Helpimfalling Beautiful colour. I would suggest you get your nails filled as the gap is already prominent and will look too obvious if left for another week.

Two tips for painting your own nails:

  1. Paint nails just before going to sleep which will allow your nails to dry for 7/8 hours
  2. Metallic and glitter shades tend to last. I use Rimmel 60 supershine (Fab). They never ever chip only fade at the tip and I repaint.
But won't they rub against the covers and that while you're sleeping? At least if I do them in the morning when I know I'm not doing much for the rest of the morning then I can make sure they aren't against anything.
ChocolateRiver · 22/12/2021 14:20

My mum has her own gel lamp so she did them for me. I’ve got for rose gold glitter. They’re really lovely.

BiddyPop · 22/12/2021 14:25

No. I hope to make time to do them myself, but I haven't done them in about 14 months at this stage, it's all I can manage to file them down when needed (life being too busy).

nanbread · 22/12/2021 14:32

I'm planning on a metallic red. Doing them myself.

I can't bear the thought of novelty / Christmas themed nails, don't know why - they make me feel a bit weird and icky... But they're obviously popular judging by this thread!

Prescottdanni123 · 22/12/2021 14:39

I had been going to get mine done professionally for the first time this Xmas, but I went through a bit of a stressful period a few weeks ago and my nail biting habit reappeared.

Oh well, there is always Easter. These lovely threads provide those of encouragement to stop biting.

BeyondShrinks · 22/12/2021 15:00

Done my own, acrylics too!
And I have arthritis in my fingers, so I'm very proud of them

@JinglingHellsBells

Really? is this a thing? I've never had my nails done (by anyone) in my life. I file them at home and use my own polish.
Does your polish dry well and stay on then?
HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 22/12/2021 15:05

@MrsHa that beautiful dark red colour is exactly what I’ve been looking for - easy to find at a salon but I do my own gel nails at home now. Where is yours from please?

Also, so many lovely nails on this thread.😍

Happy Christmas to us all!🎄🎄🎄

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 22/12/2021 15:08

@Alayalaya I don’t bother with normal varnish anymore for that reason - I’d have to do them every day as I can’t stand it when they start chipping. But a gel varnish lasts a good two weeks and still looks pristine.

Jayneisagirlsname · 22/12/2021 15:20

I had mine done yesterday - I love them!

@MrsLarry I have reported your post. Nasty and unnecessary especially since it's on the S&B board.

BeyondShrinks · 22/12/2021 15:30

Ooooo, check out the edgelord! Grin

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 22/12/2021 15:30

I got my (gel) manicure done yesterday and went for a really deep plum colour, almost black. I've had red for the last 3 weeks so was going to go a pale neutral colour but was talked into this - luckily I absolutely love it!

Everyone's nails look very pretty.

i'm going to paint mine gold but I keep them short so I can eat chocolate cake without getting it under them

NotJustACigar · 22/12/2021 15:48

For those who do their own - any advice please for beginners? Best polish, techniques, etc?

All the photos look so lovely and I'm feeling inspired but won't be able to get mine professionally done for various reasons. This is such a fun thread (glad I missed whatever the deleleted post was, though Grin).

OatcakeCravings · 22/12/2021 15:53

Gone for a gold/greenish sparkle combo for Xmas.
