Evette, from Woolworths.
Didn't Debenhams briefly have their own range a few years ago?

And Miss Selfridge make up I had a lipstick called Copperknockers. Mary Quant in black packaging with her flower logo on it

Yumchips · 04/12/2021 15:03

Ultima II

BamberGascoine · 04/12/2021 16:11

@hazelgrey was just going to mention Shaders and Toners!!

Someone above mentioned Beauty without cruelty, they may still be going.

Constance Caroll was the first range I remember having myself.

Collection 2000, I just remember bright colours

LadyEloise1 · 04/12/2021 17:55

Collection 2000 still in Boits ( I'm nearly certain)

Baggingarea · 04/12/2021 17:57

Shout out for Collection 2000

Octopus37 · 04/12/2021 18:06

@ToffeeNotCoffee

Make up from the 1980's. I miss it. Whilst cringing that it was over 40 years ago !!

I still have to hunt for blue mascara, I just prefer it.

I remember wearing blue mascara to an office job interview in the 1980's - I didn't care. Even my Cinderella moment when my shoe fell of my foot as I went upstairs for the interview !

Yes, I got the job.

I love blue mascara, I buy it from Collection2000 in Superdrug or Boots.
Ponks · 04/12/2021 18:37

Talking of Shaders and Toners reminds me of Glints hair colours, stylish packaging!

I had that lipstick! There was also a shimmery buttercup yellow nail polish in the range called Butterfingers - I wore it for school, and instantly got sent down to the Chemistry lab to take it off with acetone Grin

I also wore bright blue mascara and Twilight Teaser lipstick from Boots 17 which was a pearlised two tone lilac and pink colour and made me look like a corpse Confused

Darklane · 04/12/2021 19:41

Coty. Fabulous foundations & powder in a gold & tortoiseshell box

Yardley make up, still mourn their pink lipstick

Helena Rubinstein

Mary Quant of course

Almay

@VeronicaBeccabunga

Miners. I saved up for an eyeshadow set called 'Panda Eyes'. The colours were green and yellow, blue and purple so ideal to make yourself look as if you either had a recent black eye, or one that was a few days old.

Boots 17 lipgloss in a little square pot in the colour called 'toasted honey', the flavour of many a teenaged snog.

I had that panda eyes set too. I mostly used the green and yellow. I must have looked ill!!
They also did little tubes of liquid eye gloss stuff and the white one could be used as a base and also over coloured eyeshadow and helped it stay on. I used a lot of that!!

@Practicebeingpatient

I used to love Cover Girl back when Christie Brinkley was on all,the packaging.

My aunt used to work for a brand called Almay which died a death over 30 years ago. When I was clearing out my mums house recently I found several unopened products.

And I loved the Prescriptives custom blend foundation. I also had a custom blended lipstick made one year when they had a pop up counter in Harrods. My style has changed a lot since then and it's not a shade I'd wear anymore but I keep it as a reminder of happy times.

Don’t want to cause any upset but if you are not keeping the unopened Almay products for sentimental reasons and there is a face powder in a pink pot I would be very interested in purchasing it.
BleuJay · 04/12/2021 20:49

^^ it was loose face powder.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 05/12/2021 09:52

“Boots 17 lipgloss in a little square pot in the colour called 'toasted honey', the flavour of many a teenaged snog.”

That sentence is so evocative. I love mumsnet!

BamberGascoine · 05/12/2021 10:33

PP’s you are right! Collection 2000 still exists under the name Collection!

What was the the glints packaging? Was it in a pyramid shaped box?

BamberGascoine · 05/12/2021 10:34

Just looked up the glints! Not really a pyramid 🙈

KateInHappyland · 05/12/2021 10:50

Miners, which I used to buy in Tammy!
Also Boots 17 and Natural Collection.
Before that, Glitter Babes! They did stuff like glittery roll-ons. Aimed at kids and I loved it when I was 10/11.
H&M sold my go-to foundation in secondary school, came in a wide, flat squeezy tube and all the girls I knew had it!

The one I remember with the pyramid style box was Harmony hair colour.

Re; Almay, I'm trying to date it but I used to phone 'almay pharmacy' in London up to 2010 coz it was in my old house to order I their stick deodorant which didn't irritate whatsoever and didn't stain, they must've been hard to order from online or something if I phoned, not sure what happened after that, obviously they didn't have a shop for one item?

Deathraystare · 08/12/2021 15:53

Ahhh. I miss Yardley. My Aunt once bought me a set of 6 eyeshadows. Beautiful colours and they had a lipstick called Turkish Delight! Miners did good mascara and I once bought a palette called eye shockers (part of the posh range). An acid yellow/ acid green, bright pink and blue. I wanted to piss off my mum by wearing shocking colours. Her response "Oh I like the way you have done your eyes" Dammit!

I also wore Outdoor Girl. They did a lovely clear gel foundation in a honey colour that was beautiful. I also wore one of their 'black girl range' lipsticks which, on reflection, was absolutely the wrong shade for me. Called Ripe Ackee it was a deep brownish purple colour. I like their bramble pink powder blush though.

Miners also did a lovely lipstick called purple haze. I also had a lipgloss called pink panther and they did a 'honey' range of lipsticks..I had one in a golden pink colour.

I really loved the Mary Quant range. Her lipsticks ruled. The best pinks, plums and reds. Also Miss Selfridge did a lovely red and a bright pink (nope did not suit me) called Pinkadilly which fuchsia-ed on me.

I really miss Helena Rubinstein which you can only get in Europe I think. Lovely mascaras and lipsticks. I had a lovely cherry red lipstick. Great foundation too.

Nitgel · 08/12/2021 20:43

I loved Yardley holly red. It really suited me I got through tons of then in the 80s, never found another make that suited as much

Malibuismysecrethome · 10/12/2021 21:27

Just remembered the original Biba eyeshadows and the Mary Quant eyeshadows and nail polishes, especially Posh Prune. My favourite nail polish was Georgia Brown from Elizabeth Arden.

PetticoatSoldier · 10/12/2021 23:30

Does anyone remember Barry M?

I loved Boots 17. I started with a terracotta coloured lipstick called Ginger Spice and moved on to Shell Shimmer with a brown eye lip pencil outline Grin I also had a 17 nail varnish that was invisible unless under UV light!

notacooldad · 11/12/2021 00:13

Barry M isnt discontinued. I bought a load of Barry M make up for a young girls' pamper night at work a couple of weeks ago.
