Evette, from Woolworths.
Didn't Debenhams briefly have their own range a few years ago?

Miners, Outdoor Girl, Lentheric, Yardley, Cutex lippes. I thought Boots was fab in the 90s

freelions · 24/11/2021 17:11

Mary Quant - I had a lipstick that I absolutely loved, it fell out of my pocket, bounced into the road and got run over by a bus! This happened about 30 years and I can still remember how gutted I was!

Violetparis · 24/11/2021 17:11

Constance Carroll from the market.

Chouxs · 24/11/2021 17:11

Ooh. I forgot about Outdoor Girl and Yardley.

Chouxs · 24/11/2021 17:12

Constance Carroll was sold in the village shop, I think.

I remember in the 80's, mum attended a Jafra makeup party and bought one of their lipsticks.
I think they are still going, but abroad.
Anyone else know of or remember Jafra?

Biba ( I had a large fabulous Biba palette in the mid 80s), Miss Selfridge, Miners, Ruby & Millie, Boots 17, Prescriptives, Charlie and Barbara Daly for The Body Shop.

JaneJeffer · 24/11/2021 17:19

Barbara Daly from Tesco. Really miss it.

WhoppingBigBackside · 24/11/2021 17:20

Helena Rubinstein and Bourjois, possibly still available outside UK
Mary Quant
Astor
Miners and Evette

Beachbreak2411 · 24/11/2021 17:20

I loved Boots 17!! And Ruby and Millie 😍😍 always wish they were still about!

Stiffcondomhat · 24/11/2021 17:21

Charles of the Ritz, they used to do a lovely pinky nude lipstick.

SocksAndTheCity · 24/11/2021 17:30

@JaneJeffer

Barbara Daly from Tesco. Really miss it.
+1. I still think about the Porcelain foundation even now Sad

Also Miners and the TopShop and Miss Selfridge makeup ranges from the mid 90's; I had amazing stuff from all of them!

ToffeeNotCoffee · 24/11/2021 17:30

Boots 17 Peacock Shimmer eye shadow pencil (I also had the extra large pencil sharpener)

Rimmel Azure shimmer eyeliner. I loved that. Including the Cleopatra eyeliner flick called a cat flick these days I think.

Boots 17 (I think) electric blue colour mascara. I wore that as my mascara of choice for years.

Boots 17 Bon Bon lipstick.

Rimmel Heather Shimmer lipstick.

Bourgeois make up. So bright it was practically stage make up.

As has been said, Constance Carrol from the market. Never wore it though.

Glitter mixed with Vaseline that you sometimes got for free on the front cover of a teen magazine.

Anne French cleansing milk. I think I've seen it in the pound shops.

Also, Delf lemon cleanser and toner (which has been mentioned before.) The toner was a bastard for stinging if you got any of it in your eye !

Fashionesta · 24/11/2021 17:31

Corn silk powder from Boots. Those papers from body shop that soaked up sweat when you went out clubbing.

foxgoosefinch · 24/11/2021 17:33

I loved Ruby&Millie!

Chouxs · 24/11/2021 17:34

Anyone else remember Jafra? They did parties and had reps, similar to Avon, I think.

OP posts:
foxgoosefinch · 24/11/2021 17:35

And Prescriptives!

ToffeeNotCoffee · 24/11/2021 17:35

Make up from the 1980's. I miss it. Whilst cringing that it was over 40 years ago !!

I still have to hunt for blue mascara, I just prefer it.

I remember wearing blue mascara to an office job interview in the 1980's - I didn't care. Even my Cinderella moment when my shoe fell of my foot as I went upstairs for the interview !

Yes, I got the job.

Lillygolightly · 24/11/2021 17:35

Helena Rubenstien & Almay

Nitgel · 24/11/2021 17:36

I loved ruby and millie too, had a massive lovely brown eyeshadow that I loved.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 24/11/2021 17:38

I remember Jafra and the 'party plan' sales similar to Avon.

Corn silk face powder was fantastic.

Truly Fair pressed face powder/cream by Max Factor was my, 'go to' for many many years. Since asking the make up lady on the counter at a Boots store in London what foundation I should use. That's what she said to the sixteen year old me.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 24/11/2021 17:38

Prescriptives. They were very much ahead of their time.

KirstenBlest · 24/11/2021 17:41

I liked Prescriptives and Almay was great

You can still buy Heather Shimmer

Boots 17 was great

Pascal80 · 24/11/2021 17:42

-Delph Lemon cleanser was gorgeous

  • and the real, original Timotei shampoo that actually did smell like a meadow of flowers was fantastic. They changed it and ruined it.
-Apri Apricot facial scrub from 80s/90s - absolutely fantastic. They changed the recipe and it became useless mud slop. A lot of these wonderful products were bought up by trans-national corps like Unilever and ruined. -Bourjois cosmetics when the blushers were absolutely dirt cheap, lasted forever and were all in cardboard pots - lasted for ever and no cheap plastic in sight. -The original Guerlain bronzer in a compact that only Fenwicks sold in my town - they only made one compact that everyone loved. Now they make a gazillion different ones. Impossble to know which is the original, if any.
BusterGonad · 24/11/2021 17:45

I really liked Cover Girl make up, when Helena Christensen was the face. They had just recently changed to the grey packaging that looked a bit like a pebble. I had the colour renew lipstick, when you pressed your lips together the colour renewed. I liked the clear mascara too.
