Evette, from Woolworths.
Didn't Debenhams briefly have their own range a few years ago?

Boots 17 Peacock Shimmer eye shadow pencil (I also had the extra large pencil sharpener)

Rimmel Azure shimmer eyeliner. I loved that. Including the Cleopatra eyeliner flick called a cat flick these days I think.

Boots 17 (I think) electric blue colour mascara. I wore that as my mascara of choice for years.

Boots 17 Bon Bon lipstick.

Rimmel Heather Shimmer lipstick.

Bourgeois make up. So bright it was practically stage make up.

As has been said, Constance Carrol from the market. Never wore it though.

Glitter mixed with Vaseline that you sometimes got for free on the front cover of a teen magazine.

Anne French cleansing milk. I think I've seen it in the pound shops.

Also, Delf lemon cleanser and toner (which has been mentioned before.) The toner was a bastard for stinging if you got any of it in your eye !

Rimmed still make Heather shimmer lipstick.

dazzlingdeborahrose · 19/09/2024 19:33

@notacooldad Boots 2000. Loved that counter.

Deathraystare · 22/09/2024 11:03

Loved Miners especially the mascaras and lipsticks. The 'posh' range was fab! I had a set of 4 bright colours in a palette including bright pink, acid green and yellow and blue. I put the yellow and green together. I wanted to piss my mum off! Clever mum said "Oh I like the way you have done your eyes!" Also the honey lipstick and glossers, the purple haze lipsticks and pink panther lip gloss.

Boots 17 did palamino brown lip gloss and my all time fave sunset (something or other) lip gloss. I cannot remember if it was Outdoor Girl but I had a lovely kind of tinted face gel - clear but honey coloured. It was beautiful! No good if you had acne though I guess. Their blush a bye baby was nice for cheeks and they did a range of make up for black skin (I am white!) and I had a dark lippie called ripe ackee (sort of purplish). Would look shit on me now

I loved Anne French and the Delft cleanser and toner. I ruined my skin which was not acnefied but I got an occasional hormonal spot above one eyebrow and /or on my lip. I used Innoxa 41 lotion on my skin which was like paint stripper.

I also loved saving up for Mary Quant lipsticks. They were the best colours ever! I loved chic cherry a purpley brown almost black. In hind sight, it did not suit me! I also occasionally got a Helena Rubinstein lipstick.

I do remember Yardley make up - I got soul setters - a round palette of the most beautiful greens, mauves and blues..

I wonder how many people know that after Evette make up for a time Woolworths own make up was called TU. Yes, before Sainsbury's named their clothing range TU. I had two eye shadows - smoking stack - a deep grey mauve with a bit of sparkle and a matte one called Maroon chaos.

Do you remember Max Factor Swedish skin care? They also did a lovely milky cleanser not that range though.

I loved Linco beer shampoo and sunsilk and silvrikin shampoos too.

Faberge Kiku perfume and Xanadu plus Acqua Manda and Acqua Citra bath stuff. I was so easy to buy presents for!! Max Factor did an apple perfume.

I also remember years ago - must have been the 70's Coty did a palette of 'earthy' solid perfumes. Perfumes I still like to this day are White lace, silk and Lentheric Panache.

Deathraystare · 22/09/2024 11:04

Oh yes and the Rimmel eye shimmer pencil in Azure., I used to wear that at school!

Deathraystare · 22/09/2024 11:08

@gaggiagirl ·

Models prefer! The eyebrow pencil and dial up foundation was amazing. They also had a contour pallette in the early 2000s. Ahead of its time.

Actually Mary Quant had a contour thingy called Natural Shadower. I had it in the 80's and proudly wore two brown stripes on my face. Weird as I was (am) fat, so my contour (if I had done it right) would have been chiselled but the rest of me....fat!

@Gatekeeper
Glad you remembered that Wella shampoo - I am always trying to find it!! And scrolling back I see you remember the TU range of make up at Woolies!

Deathraystare · 22/09/2024 11:14

@SpeckledyHen
My Dad was asked to design the packaging!!!! I never got anything out of it though!!

Deathraystare · 22/09/2024 11:17

@Malibuismysecrethome

I saw Kamera Klear foundation by Leichner on AMazon! Would not wear it now, far too thick and it had a smell!!

Deathraystare · 22/09/2024 11:27

@MadisonAvenue

Sorry! It was you that mentioned the Wella herbal shampoo wasn't it???

Deathraystare · 22/09/2024 11:27

Oh and the Vidal Sassoon almond smelling shampoo.

Deathraystare · 22/09/2024 11:31

@hazelgrey

Oh yes! The Romantic pearl foundation. Pearly it was!

Deathraystare · 22/09/2024 11:36

@woodhill
Do you mean Helena Rubinstein? Yes their mascaras and lipsticks were great. You can still get in Europe. I nearly caved when in Paris and got some make up there but didn't in the end.

Deathraystare · 22/09/2024 11:39

@Goawayquickly
Yes I do remember Sensiq! I got two eye shadow duos one had a peach and brown , the other was 2 mauves.

I sound a right make up whore, don't I? Mind you, I came across MAC quite lately!!!

Deathraystare · 22/09/2024 11:43

@@LadyNell

I got the MIss Selfridge Pinkadilly lipstick. Bright pink that 'blued' on me. I had such shit taste in lipsticks back them but I stand by all the red ones!

I liked the Miss Selfridge eye liner pencil too.

I have just realised that this thread has been going a long time and I repeated myself from an earlier post!! Well, at least I haven't forgotten anything!!!

Irismarle · 18/03/2025 19:12

I don’t think anyone has mentioned Gala. It came in very small pots with a rose decoration and was sold in chemists and big department stores.
When I was a student I used to buy Germaine Monteil foundation because magazines said the models used it. It was lovely but terribly expensive.
I still have Helena Rubenstein lipsticks in Sandstone, a lovely sandy pink, which must be decades old but I still use!

Deathraystare · 19/03/2025 11:31

@Irismarle

Mum had Gala nail polish and perfumes. I had the Germaine Monteil perfume in Royal Secret

Arraminta · 19/03/2025 12:17

SocksAndTheCity · 04/12/2021 19:40

@LadyNell

And Miss Selfridge make up I had a lipstick called Copperknockers. Mary Quant in black packaging with her flower logo on it
I had that lipstick! There was also a shimmery buttercup yellow nail polish in the range called Butterfingers - I wore it for school, and instantly got sent down to the Chemistry lab to take it off with acetone Grin

I also wore bright blue mascara and Twilight Teaser lipstick from Boots 17 which was a pearlised two tone lilac and pink colour and made me look like a corpse Confused

I loved my Twilight Teaser lipstick until my older brother told me I looked like I had heart failure!

notacooldad · 19/03/2025 15:58

Charles of the Ritz, they used to do a lovely pinky nude lipstick
I had a khaki eyeshadow that was gorgeous on me.

I used to love Prescriptives. I had a lovely matt red lipstick that was great on me
There was a brand I used to buy in Kendals and I can't quite recall the name
Something like Princess Marcella de Boighoise ( maybe nothing like that but it was a fancy name)

Claudia Winkleman had a brand that had a limited run a few years ago that was fabulous, something Panda. I loved it and was gutted that it seemed to be around just for Christmas in Boots.

notacooldad · 19/03/2025 16:23

I didn't realise this was an old thread and have commented twice!
