Evette, from Woolworths.
Didn't Debenhams briefly have their own range a few years ago?

Does Kanebo still exist ?

I bought some Charles of the Ritz perfume when it was mentioned on one of these sorts of threads and was really disappointed as it just didn't smell how I remembered. Arpege the same thing 😥

RozinaBullock · 28/11/2021 18:38

I just wonder if anyone remembers Desert Flower Talcum Powder, absolutely loved it.

Riverlee · 28/11/2021 19:02

Haven’t read whole so apologies if it’s been mentioned.

Back in the 80s, Avon used to do a highlighter. You got a mascara-type brush and a tube of either gold or silver glittery cream. You would run the brush through your hair to get sparkly highlights. I think it came out at Christmas time.

Riverlee · 28/11/2021 19:04

I can even picture the box it came in. - a dark purple-y box with silver or white stars/pattern on it.

Malibuismysecrethome · 29/11/2021 11:13

I remember and other products where you could paint on coloured or gold/silver highlights!

BleuJay · 29/11/2021 12:32

Molten Brown Lipsticks from 20 years ago, I think.

Almay face powder in pink pots of plain powder or one with slight glitter in it circa late 70s early 80s.

Revlon dry skin lotion.

Tu cosmetics sold in Woolworths circa mid 1980s, I bought a couple of lipsticks and the brand vanished but the name Tu resurfaces some years later as Sainsbury’s clothing range.

Charlie Cosmetics - I had a purple lipgloss circa late 1970s early 1980s.

Goya did a number of nice perfumes such as Gardenia.

As a young teenager I liked one called ‘Passport’, mainly because of the very smart navy and pink packaging,

Practicebeingpatient · 29/11/2021 12:56

I used to love Cover Girl back when Christie Brinkley was on all,the packaging.

My aunt used to work for a brand called Almay which died a death over 30 years ago. When I was clearing out my mums house recently I found several unopened products.

And I loved the Prescriptives custom blend foundation. I also had a custom blended lipstick made one year when they had a pop up counter in Harrods. My style has changed a lot since then and it's not a shade I'd wear anymore but I keep it as a reminder of happy times.

AliceMck · 29/11/2021 13:06

I only ever wore constant carols translucent powder & lipsticks from the market. I’d also use the lipstick as eyeshadow and blush 😬. On the rare occasions I wore foundation it would be the leichner one in a black tub from the market too.

Tonimacaroni80 · 29/11/2021 20:57

My first make up was a brand called Laura Paige from the village pharmacy

Oh yes ! Someone bought me some tiny stick on stars that must have been from that range. Same packaging. They were glittery gold or silver and with a sticky back to just dot on your face like a beauty spot.
LadyEloise1 · 01/12/2021 10:06

@Practicebeingpatient Almay was hypoallergenic and for sensitive skins.
I remember Prescriptives, Miners, Outdoor Girl and Constance Carroll whose roll on flavoured lip gloss was a favourite and iconic.

Cutex did the most lovely blusher, in a very small container, called Golden. It was a perfect colour for a bronzer and I used it as such.
Oh for it to be reissued.
Has anyone else ever seen it ?

Malibuismysecrethome · 01/12/2021 10:08

I loved Almay it is still available in the USA but sadly not so much choice these days

ExConstance · 01/12/2021 10:09

Boots 17 for basics. I also had a tin of shimmery Mary Quant eye crayons, which were the best I've ever had. Biba - their creamy foundation in colours all called "yellow" with a number was amazing, I can still remember the smell. Has anyone mentioned Lentheric? They were a stage makeup brand that also did a wonderful range of foundations.

Not a make up but a hair dye

Schwarzkopf used to do a hair dye that was supposed to last about 1-2 weeks or washes (can’t remember which) but for me it lasted about 6-8 weeks.
They discontinued it and it has been the only hair dye I have ever been not allergic to

I have mousy brown, blonde and grey hair now and it looks awful.
I have used wash in and wash out hair dye that also seems to stay around for weeks but because of the grey in my hair brown comes out orange and it just looks strange

I used to get it from Boots and it was 1 tube that you washed your hair with. Left it on for 20 minutes and then washed out.
It came in packaging that looked like a little handbag and was hung from a rail

Really miss it.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 01/12/2021 11:19

@Kennykenkencat have you tried the superdrug colour effects shampoos? Not quite the same but might help you. I find them excellent and actually covers up grey in between colour appts.

Oh yes ! When I had my hair coloured very blonde I used to sometimes use this on top. I haven’t dyed my hair for many years and I thought i might like to try a wash out thing but these have sadly disappeared.

I think that is what I did use that ended up orange even though it was meant to be brown

goingtotown · 01/12/2021 23:23

@Jacaranda75 Stila available from M&S.

Miss Selfridge lipstick in 'Iron Lady' , then Lipcote over the top to keep it on (sometimes it stung so much!) then off to an 80's disco, oh, to relive those happy times

woodhill · 03/12/2021 11:29

Oh yes Iron Lady and Lillipout

Then awful lip cote - horrible drying effect

I loved the Miss Selfridge make up box circa 1984

batmanladybird · 03/12/2021 11:38

Bourjois was owned by Chanel

LadyNell · 04/12/2021 07:39
