Evette, from Woolworths.
Didn't Debenhams briefly have their own range a few years ago?

@MadisonAvenue

I’d forgotten about Evette!

I loved Boots 17, I’ve still got a couple of concealers stashed which I bought when they were selling them cheap to clear the whole range.

Cover Girl was really good, no idea why they pulled out of the UK market because it seemed really popular.

There was a Wella shampoo and conditioner in the 1980s, a pale green colour which smelt amazing, it had a very herby scent and I’ve never found anything like it since.

I’m currently annoyed with Benefit for discontinuing their They’re Real mascara in brown (not an entire brand, I know) but it’s the only one that doesn’t smudge on me. Black is too harsh and the brown primer that the Benefit assistant recommended doesn’t last long on my lashes.

@MadisonAvenue that was probably Wella.Lifetex balsam which smelt divine...herbally and green and just fab

Hard candy nail varnish, there was an iridescent purple shade I would love to use again if I could

Mary Quant jam tart lipstick

Gatekeeper · 24/11/2021 20:48

A couple from the 80s...Tu which was the slightly more upmarket range from Woolies and an Italian company called Pupa which sold fantastic eyeshadow pallettes

Inthesameboatatmo · 24/11/2021 20:51

Bwc from woolworths

onlychildhamster · 24/11/2021 20:52

Very recently Becca

I like their highlighters. I spotted a mini set going for £10 in TK Maxx and immediately snapped it up.

But their mini highlighter keeps breaking, I know now to keep it at home which kinda defeats the purpose of a travel highlighter but its really lovely and shimmery.

notacooldad · 24/11/2021 20:55

I've just thought if tbe one I couldn't think of before!
Princess Marcella Borghese.
That was another brand I bought from Kendals back in the day!

Jsgdud · 24/11/2021 20:57

RU makeup which was a sub brand of Rimmel and sold in Superdrug. I used to think it was so cool! 🤭

Snoopsnoggysnog · 24/11/2021 20:58

I love these threads

I had no idea some of these weren’t around any more Blush

Drinkyourweaklemondrink · 24/11/2021 21:01

Lancaster

notacooldad · 24/11/2021 21:02

It may have been mentioned but there was a brand that was sold in Boots some years ago ( maybe in the last 15?)
It was easy to choose the right colours for you because there was a section for warm tones and the other for cool tones. Everything i picked from the cool tone looked good on me. I wish i could remember the name!!

JMAngel1 · 24/11/2021 21:02

Arianne Poole - girgeous eyeshadow palettes
Models Prefer - eye brow pencil ahead of it's time
Ultima II - they did a fantastic eye brightening concealer - something like Eye Lift Up?
Prescriptives
Mohave Magic did the best bronzers
Bourjois. - sob
Stila - sob (the new range is so small)

TroysMammy · 24/11/2021 21:02

@ToffeeNotCoffee you can still get Rimmel Heather Shimmer lipstick. I bought one recently in either Wilko or Savers.

Jacaranda75 · 24/11/2021 21:06

@notacooldad Prescriptives?

Jacaranda75 · 24/11/2021 21:07

@JMAngel1 Stila was lovely! Such a shame they went under Sad.

quirkychick · 24/11/2021 21:11

Another vote for Ruby & Millie gloss blusher. You just put it straight on in the click up stick and it looked great, hardly needed any blending.

mogschristmascalamity · 24/11/2021 21:12

Swedish Formula. I remember buying a lovely lipstick from the market by this brand. It was an estee lauder thing I think?

I loved that lipstick but it fell out of my bag one night. was gutted.

SirVixofVixHall · 24/11/2021 21:15

@WhoppingBigBackside

Helena Rubinstein and Bourjois, possibly still available outside UK Mary Quant Astor Miners and Evette
Charlotte Tilbury did a really great range for Helena Rubenstein, before she had her own line. Then suddenly it disappeared. I say Madeleine Mono , Rochas, and also Eau Jeune colognes. The smell of 10 0 6 is teenage holidays .

Yes to hard candy nail polish. There was a pale pink cream (sugar pink ??) which was perfect for Summer. I had it in summer ‘96 and I’ve never been to find anything replicate it.
SirVixofVixHall · 24/11/2021 21:16

@ChardonnaysPetDragon

Prescriptives. They were very much ahead of their time.
Agree. I was allergic to the foundation, so annoying as it was the first time I ever got a decent colour match
SirVixofVixHall · 24/11/2021 21:18

@woodhill

Oriflame

Cover Girl

Liked HR mascara

HR mascara was the BEST. I got asked all the time what mascara I used.
BikeMyCycle · 24/11/2021 21:21

@Beachbreak2411

I loved Boots 17!! And Ruby and Millie 😍😍 always wish they were still about!
I had the best Ruby and Millie brush! 17 was THE BEST!!!
Justleaveitblankthen · 24/11/2021 21:25

Happy memories of Constance Carroll roller ball lipgloss! I was always convinced Adam Ant wore the same brand as me!

Used to love an amber coloured thickening hair shampoo by St Ives in the early '90s
It came in a rectangular bottle from Boots and expensive at around £4.99 ☺️
It made my thin hair like a thick, glossy wig!
Gutted it seems to be gone forever..

Maverick66 · 24/11/2021 21:26

Arabian glow .......bronzer

Leichner (in a black tub) ...foundation

sqirrelfriends · 24/11/2021 21:32

Bourjois is gone?! I used to love their healthy mix foundation and their little round blushers. For a time in the early 2000s they had a double mascara with a white and black end. It was the epitome of spidery lashes.

Constance carol from the cheapy shop for super-thick foundation and miners from the chemist down the road for sparkly eyeshadow.

Does anyone remember Jelly pong pong? I think it's still available but no where near as much as it was in the olden days.

Yet another vote for this! Was it called cheek gloss or something?
