The Levi website suggest only washing their jeans every 10 wears!? I wash mine after 2!!! How often do you wash yours?

OP posts:
CSJobseeker · 26/10/2021 10:55

Whenever I think they need washing. Might be 1-2 wears, might be 6-7.

RacketeerRalph · 26/10/2021 11:25

@RampantIvy

I get the impression that some posters must have a very extremely sensitive sense of smell.

Unless it is very hot and the wearer is wearing very tight jeans I can't think that wearing a pair of jeans for just one day would smell that gross.

I have an extremely sensitive sense of smell and my crotch doesn't smell after 1 day. Maybe others are stinkier.
XingMing · 26/10/2021 11:27

I rarely wear the same jeans on consecutive days as I prefer them to air out. White jeans get washed every wear, darker ones might get worn 5 - 8 times unless I spill something that can't be spot cleaned. I brush mud off though.

TuftyRusty · 26/10/2021 11:35

@Boudiccasback

This is so gross, every tome they are worn. Of course your crotch smells despite showering everyday.🤮
Maybe yours does. But mine doesn’t Wink
blackberriesaretheonlyfruit · 26/10/2021 11:45

I try for every two or three times but in reality its most days. Im a dirt magnet no matter how careful I am I end most days like ive been working in a field all day or a mine.

Mercurial123 · 26/10/2021 11:45

Lots of germophobes will wash every wear. Mine when they look dirty.

RampantIvy · 26/10/2021 12:19

Are these the same people who wash towels after single use?

ladygindiva · 26/10/2021 12:21

I'm loving that this has descended into a debate about whiffy fannies 🤣

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 26/10/2021 13:19

I wash my jeans only when they get visibly dirty and can't easily be spot cleaned. They definitely don't smell. DH has a very sensitive sense of smell and would definitely tell me if my jeans pong.

Obviously if I wore them for strenuous exercise or dirty jobs then they would need washing more often but I just wear mine for dress down daysin the office or weekend shopping/cafe type trips.

Sooverthemill · 26/10/2021 13:35

Someone wore same jeans every day for 15 months and had bacteria levels tested here

TheChosenTwo · 26/10/2021 15:25

Did Levi’s always have stretch in them? I think jeans these days generally contain at least some Lycra/other stretchy material, women’s jeans in particular tend to be a bit more figure hugging.
I reckon this advice of washing every 10 wears probably works fine for the pure denim/non stretch variety of actual jeans, less so for jeans that are tight and fitted.
Years ago I had some carpenter style jeans, very baggy and loose, not fitted, could wear them for ages before they needed washing unless they were visibly stained.
My jeans now are more fitted and definitely need washing every couple of wears or the knees start to look baggy and the bum looks saggy!

Malibuismysecrethome · 26/10/2021 15:27

Not washing jeans until 10 wears is minging.

Sooverthemill · 26/10/2021 16:26

@TheChosenTwo elastane in jeans came in many years ago. But now thank goodness you can buy 100% cotton jeans again and they don’t sag

There we go then, no difference between 13 days and 15 months. And no real nasties despite the very heavy long term wear. I reckon I'll live.

TheChosenTwo · 26/10/2021 17:41

Ahh okay @Sooverthemill I presumed it was a modern addition to jeans! I certainly used to hate jeans as a teenager as I found them stiff and hard but then I think jeans on adolescents are tricky as they grow constantly and it feels like you’re buying jeans every 3 weeks for them Grin
My jeans now certainly have stretch to them. Having said that, I very very rarely wear jeans now as I just don’t really find them comfortable enough to wear all day, when I’m at home I’m in leggings/jogging bottoms/dresses depending on what I’m doing.

wildchild554 · 26/10/2021 17:42

Depends on what I'm doing and how dirty I get, if I'm gardening they get washed first wear if I'm just working at a computer and doing school runs, every 3 wears.

clockover · 26/10/2021 17:49

What do people mean when they say they 'air' them? Hang out on the washing line or just leave them on the back of a chair?

Elieza · 26/10/2021 17:54

@SocksAndTheCity who ripped your knitting? I was polite!

jeanblew · 26/10/2021 19:18

I hardly ever wash mine nowadays as the ones I wore in the past used to go very soft and almost feeling thin after washing them every week. I regularly spot clean them and they seem fine.

Sooverthemill · 26/10/2021 19:19

@clockover I put my jeans over a hanger and hang off wardrobe door for a whole day ( as in fact with all my clothes), if they pass my sniff test after that they get put away. The air can circulate.

I have a standalone towel rail in my bedroom where I hang up jeans in between wears.

It's true though! I wore my friends jeans a looong time ago and after I got to the club they stank if sweaty onion fish Fannies I had to go home in the end... mortified 😱 I have them a good bio wash the next day
SunShinesBrightly · 26/10/2021 20:05

Does anyone else have a DH or DC who arrive home from walks with jeans like this?

Levi’s - wash every 10 wears??
HuhWhatNow · 26/10/2021 20:05

I'm just booking here at the thought of not washing clothes after anything like weeks or even months! Ew! I wash throw blankets more often than that and they don't even go against that much skin.
Do you guys never cook whilst wearing jeans? The kitchen smells alone are enough to make me chuck that day's clothes in the washer. Do you sniff test before putting on? Do you bother with showering if you're just popping your dirty clothes back on?

XingMing · 26/10/2021 20:32

I cook every day but don't find cooking smells are unpleasant unless there's deep frying happening, which it doesn't here. I can't stand the standing smell of a deep fat fryer.
