Levi’s - wash every 10 wears??

The Levi website suggest only washing their jeans every 10 wears!? I wash mine after 2!!! How often do you wash yours?

Moving on from the cooking aspect. I probably wash jeans after a couple of wears. I don’t wear jeans in the summer, otherwise it would be after every wear.

I don’t like/wear baggy jeans, so unless crotchless jeans become the latest thing (bad joke), I will continue to wash regularly.

DaisyWaldron · 27/10/2021 10:34

I wash them when they have visible dirt or fail the sniff test. That can be anywhere from 3-10 wears.

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 · 27/10/2021 15:59

Ugh.....those going into the years before washing...just ugh...shower daily or not there is some serious microbiology going on in those jeans 🤢

What exactly do you think can live on a dry pair of jeans?

I think that prety much describes my jeans washing habit.

I WFH and so does DH. I shower every day and wear clean underwear every day. It doesn't really matter if I am day 4 of wearing jeans because no-one is going to know.

DH wears the same pair of jeans every day for a week. He just works at his desk and doesn't ever get sweaty.

Rather a lot! Look it up if you’re not convinced 🤢 closest to the most germs in the body. Probably won’t kill you but won’t help with UTIs or thrush 🤮

Interesting article here discussing re-wearing jeans and ‘jock itch’... 😁 www.menshealth.com/health/a28324592/jean-washing-gross/
Sooverthemill · 27/10/2021 19:32

@SunShinesBrightly but the crucial part of the article is
"Guys with eczema, open wounds, or even just dry skin are more likely to develop a bacterial infection, she says. More commonly, oil in your pants could cause acne or folliculitis."

Men. Not women. And up thread I linked to a study after 15 months of not washing jeans which found no significant increase in bacteria.

We don't need to wash anything as much as we have got used to. Except our hands, several times a day. Obviously if clothing is dirty ( like from my dogs paws or I spill my dinner or my cat vomits on me) then it gets washed.

SunShinesBrightly · 28/10/2021 11:58

I guessing that women ‘with eczema, open wounds, or even just dry skin are more likely to develop a bacterial infection’ too?
Or do we have different skin?

SirenSays · 28/10/2021 13:29

Spraying jeans with vodka or putting them in the freezer have been recommended for ages.

Sooverthemill · 28/10/2021 14:17

@SunShinesBrightly yes but I feel we are more sensible

TheYearOfSmallThings · 28/10/2021 14:32

I wear mine mostly at weekends/going out for lunch etc and tend to change into lounge clothes at home. I wouldn’t wear good jeans to garden, cook or clean the house.

I think from this that some people have Stunt Jeans, which they put on like a costume, for a specific occasion, and then put away carefully. That is not what I use jeans for - mine would be on all day, sitting on the tube, walking miles, cooking, slobbing about. They definitely need washing more often than 10 wears.

StarlightLady · 28/10/2021 14:48

Dirty jeans = dirty house 🤮

woodhill · 28/10/2021 14:48

2-3 times, they are a bit yucky otherwise

woodhill · 28/10/2021 14:50

@LilyTheMink

Does anyone wear pinnies any more? I stip short of a full house coat like my nan, but a nice thick apron is an absolute must for cooking.
I do

You sound fun.
Nightingale748 · 28/10/2021 15:35

Has anyone asked if you can tumble dry jeans, or does that open up a portal to hell or something?

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 28/10/2021 15:53

TheYearOfSmallThings I find that peculiar too. Some people are uncomfortable in jeans due to their body shape, but then why wear them at all? If they are comfortable then they're the most practical clothing work generally moving from one task/ place/ thing to another and a useful piece of clothing precisely because (if work is informal) they are so versatile and there's no need to perform constant costume changes - jeans work for getting the kids out in the morning, going for an hour's walk, doing some housework, lazing about with a book for an hour, going to the supermarket, errands in town, meeting a friend for coffee, and for some people going to work too, as well as out in the evening if going somewhere informal.

That's the joy of them surely. They're exactly the type of clothing to wear 16+ hours per day..

Eloise97 · 28/10/2021 16:00

I wash mine as soon as they start to go baggy

StarlightLady · 28/10/2021 16:35

@Mercurial123 - l assure you l am fun, l do things many only dream of and not with my jeans on. Cleanliness, hygiene and fun can go together.

Not true at all
5128gap · 28/10/2021 19:20

I wash them every three wears or so. They get worn for walks where they get muddy, in pubs where they get beer spills and to clean in. They're just clothes not precious antiques and get treated like all my other stuff. That said, I've got a (frequently washed) pair from the late 80s that are still going strong, so they are getting close to antique now.

anon666 · 31/10/2021 19:55

I must admit that at university I used to wear them every day and wash them once or twice a term. 😬

But they genuinely did not smell bad, and in those days I never used to eat so they never got spills either
