The Levi website suggest only washing their jeans every 10 wears!? I wash mine after 2!!! How often do you wash yours?

OP posts:
ParmigianoReggiano · 25/10/2021 19:57

Every 6-7 wears.

DiscontentedWoman · 25/10/2021 19:58

I read the OP as 10 years Blush

isthismylifenow · 25/10/2021 20:01

It depends if they are light or dark. I cannot keep light clothes clean, I move a lot of stuff around for work so they do get marked and it's noticable. So then, after every wear. Otherwise every 2 to 3 wears.

Tulipomania · 25/10/2021 20:04

About every 2 months!

SocksAndTheCity · 25/10/2021 20:04

@TwoLeftSocksWithHoles

Who knew they were washable?

I just stand mine up in the corner of the kitchen.

It's ideal as they seem to attract the flies away from the food preparation area.
Wink

Grin

I may switch to just beating mine with a stick.

Crikey - 2 sometimes 3. That's the absolute max. Dirt gets ingrained if they're left any longer, not to mention the smell Envy

NewLifePending · 25/10/2021 20:07

Every 5 or 6 wears and only them as I have a sticky fingered pre schooler.
Those mentioning crotch smells, I’m confused? I don’t smell as I shower daily and wear clean underwear, don’t you?

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 25/10/2021 20:11

I wash and change undies daily but I prefer my clothes to smell of the wash rather than of me...
some people sweat more than others, and my dc tend to have grubby hands. I often do a bit of gardening at some point in the day and I'm a bit messy in the kitchen so I can't generally manage more than 2 wears sometimes 3. I also prefer the feeling of newly washed jeans and they get too loose on the waist after a couple of wears.

2020isnotbehaving · 25/10/2021 20:14

Years!! They do smell in crotch department even if you air them. Maybe them
Mean wash every 10 washes “for men”

Cactu · 25/10/2021 20:22

Mine get smelly. Probably depends what you wear jeans for. If it’s only for a few hours at the weekend for a cafe lunch then yes you’d get more wears. I wear mine for work so they’re on my body for minimum 11 hours and I’m doing a lot of stuff.

AnnieSnap · 25/10/2021 20:24

@Shuttheblinds

I wash mine after every wear Shock
We should be washing clothes only when they are dirty or smell. It isn’t just that the detergents, the electricity that goes into heating the water, washing and drying is terrible for the climate and the planet, but it also wears out the fabrics quicker!
Higgeldypiggeldy35 · 25/10/2021 20:25

Depends what you've been doing. Prior to having kids I would wear several times. These days I'm constantly covered in snot, buttery fingers, spit up, food .....I'm lucky if I make it through the day without changing at least twice.

Howdidthathappen1 · 25/10/2021 20:25

I need to wash mine just to get them back into shape after 2 maybe 3 wears. Otherwise it's saggy knees and bum.
Would love to wash less but no idea how!?

MiniPumpkin · 25/10/2021 20:28

About 5/6 wears,, unless needed… sometimes I can smell cooking from the night before so needless to say I’d not wear them and they’d Be straight in the wash.

Well if you’re wearing them for long shifts at work or for gardening like PPs of course it makes sense to wash them more often. I wear mine mostly at weekends/going out for lunch etc and tend to change into lounge clothes at home. I wouldn’t wear good jeans to garden, cook or clean the house.

I’m not washing a £200 pair of jeans every time I wear them! Just like you wouldn’t wash a cashmere sweater every time you wear it. Wash things when they’re dirty and need it rather than just every time they’re worn!

ChorizoJacketPotato · 25/10/2021 20:32

Rarely. If they’re dirty or start to smell.

DietrichandDiMaggio · 25/10/2021 20:41

Well the first poster who mentioned them has sweaty inner thighs and leaks wee apparently, so if you don't have either of these problems you're probably ok.

CorvusPurpureus · 25/10/2021 20:44

If I'm wearing jeans it's generally because I'm doing something active, grubby & potentially sweaty, so they're usually ready for the wash once I take them off. Although if I've got another grubby, sweaty day lined up, I'll save them for that & wear them again.

My crotch is showered daily, & encased in nice clean cotton knickers, thank you very much, but my jeans still definitely get slightly stale smelling after a few wears, especially if they're skinnies.

If you really can't wash expensive jeans, then I'm glad that all mine are cheap or second hand.

My current favourite pair for scruffing around in are handed down from teenage ds. They're quite baggy so don't need washing because of sweating etc in the same way as a tight pair of skinny jeans would - but then I usually manage to cover them with sand, dust, oil, animal hair. They seem to survive the washing machine perfectly well, given that they had at least a year of ds testing them to destruction before I rescued them from the recycling.

WowStarsWow · 25/10/2021 20:54

“A bit of wee may leak”… speak for yourself 😬 and maybe do some pelvic floor exercises

RacketeerRalph · 25/10/2021 21:02

I wash mine when they're visibly dirty or they smell. I have an extremely sensitive sense of smell but I'm not a sweaty person. I'd say they get out of shape before they smell, and are usually visibly dirty before that!

My DH is far sweatier and smellier than me! He needs to wash his more frequently than I do. Why would men have to wash less frequently?!
Pootle40 · 25/10/2021 21:06

@lazylinguist

Yes, about every 8-10 wears probably.
Same
isthismylifenow · 25/10/2021 21:09

I keep misreading wears for years.

😂

Penny31 · 25/10/2021 21:11

Ok…..wasn’t expecting the thread to go this way 😆 I was genuinely surprised by Levi’s advice. For me, 2-3 wears feels long enough before they need a wash whether that’s because they get a bit wiffy, dirty or shapeless.
Even though I shower everyday, have good personal hygiene etc I still feel like they’d smell a bit stale if left for 10 wears! Not to mention kid related stains, mud, food etc that would definitely find its way into them during that time!

OP posts:
Shadowboy · 25/10/2021 21:13

Every other wear. I had a uni friend who never washed hers and I remember when she wore them she smelt like ‘old sex’ and I used to feel like vomiting. She said it was so they weren’t ruined!

My OH washes his after a couple of weeks but they don’t seem to smell?
