The Levi website suggest only washing their jeans every 10 wears!? I wash mine after 2!!! How often do you wash yours?

Shock Ew, I had never heard this! So people don't wash their jeans often? You're not supposed to?

NO WONDER THERE'S A PANDEMIC Shock 😷

BusySittingDown · 25/10/2021 21:21

Btw, I'm joking! I know that the pandemic was not caused by people wearing clothes more than a couple of times before people come at me.

I usually wash mine after 1 or 2 wears. I pushed it to 3 once and felt like a dirty biatch.

maddiemookins16mum · 25/10/2021 21:22

@ladygindiva

Christ I read that as 10 years!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I wash after a few, maybe 5 or 6 wears, as they are lovely and soft after a couple wears and stiff after washing
So did I (and many others from the look of things). Mine get washed ever week, but I wear them 2/3 times. I don’t leak piss (never have), shower daily, wear clean knickers/liner (yep, shoot me now) every day.
TuftyMarmoset · 25/10/2021 21:22

My jeans aren’t Levi’s but I probably wash about every 10 wears - it’s when I get something on them or I’ve power walked into town with too much clothing on and got sweaty. It’s bad for them to wash too frequently.

Verbena87 · 25/10/2021 21:28

Probably around every 8 to 10 wears unless they smell or look dirty. However, they’re heavy pure cotton denim. My skinnies with Lycra need washing more often or they go too saggy.

MoirasWigStand · 25/10/2021 21:35

I wash every day, sometimes twice, but I have a prolapse that causes leakage (regardless of pelvic floors) and perimenopause flooding. I also seem to be much sweatier than in my youth. So quite often.

Washing jeans after every one or two wears doesn’t make sense if you aren’t doing manual labour in them. It is so unnecessary and terrible for the environment. What do you think will happen to you if you wash between every 3 or 4 wears instead? I can’t get over how fastidious some people are.

I don’t get a sweaty crotch or wee in my pants either, I shower every day and put clean underwear on every day. I don’t wear jeans in hot weather. I will wear a pair of jeans over several days between washes. And my jeans don’t go saggy either.

purplesequins · 25/10/2021 21:45

@onlyconnect

I agree with Elieza. What do those of you who hardly ever wash yours do about crotch smells?
wash regularly? wear underwear?

we wear trousers about 4 days. I wear 2 or 3 pairss on alternating days, hanging up over the back of a chair to air between wears.

Fuckoffudickhead · 25/10/2021 21:51

You put your jeans in the freezer?? Why on Earth would you do that? Do you also put your knitwear in your tv cabinet and your socks behind the fridge?? What a crackhead😂

Yes!!!! I am gobsmacked by this!
PandoraP · 25/10/2021 21:54

Depends. If I have been out and about on the tube etc after every wear. If I have just worn around the house after 2-3 wears.

Mishuckliza · 25/10/2021 21:58

Omg you people actually wash your jeans???? When mine start to smell I hang them in the cutlery drawer that seems to help x

clockover · 25/10/2021 22:02

@WowStarsWow

“A bit of wee may leak”… speak for yourself 😬 and maybe do some pelvic floor exercises

Urinary incontinence is surprisingly common in women. Not something you can simply fix with pelvic floor exercises.

Well that’s a different ball game. I remember the peri-menopausel flooding. It’s a bloody nightmare isn’t it (no pun intended)? I was so glad to get to the other side. The extra sweating may well be connected ❤️
holidaynearlyover · 25/10/2021 22:24

@SunShinesBrightly yes they do go back to normal thankfully. Couldn't wait 10 washes though

holidaynearlyover · 25/10/2021 22:24

10 wears I mean

ToykotoLosAngeles · 25/10/2021 22:34

I think most people do shower every morning, but when I've had skinnies on from 7am until 10pm, spending 8 hours of that sitting in an office in either central heating or summer heat, then they eventually smell a bit stale. Clean knickers aren't magical smell barriers, especially when they've also been on me 15 hours sitting next to the jeans!

But why would you wear skinny jeans for 15 hour days in the summer heat? That doesn’t sound comfortable! I guess part of why I don’t feel the need to wash jeans every wear is cos I don’t wear skinnies/haven’t done for years, don’t think looser jeans quite make you sweat/pick up sweat as much.
ToykotoLosAngeles · 25/10/2021 23:34

I'm not talking about 30 degrees here, just "warm enough that there's no heating on" heat. 20ish?

gofg · 25/10/2021 23:53

I usually wash mine every couple of weeks. Washing them after a couple of wears, or worse just one, is ridiculous. I don't wear them once summer kicks in.

Shuttheblinds · 26/10/2021 00:03

RampantIvy good for you. You don’t get a sweaty crotch or wee in your pants you say? Well guess what? Some ladies do, so count yourself lucky.

What do I think will happen if I wash every 3-4 wears you ask? My jeans will smell and feel unclean on my skin.

I too shower and wear clean underwear everyday. If I am sticking a dark wash on anyway what difference does it make if I bung a pair of jeans in with it?

You say you can’t get over how fastidious some people are? It isn’t about being fastidious it is about wanting my clothes to be clean. I can’t get over how judgey some people how often others wash their own clothes.

Unmerited · 26/10/2021 05:21

Every few wears here, but I actually prefer my more washed and worn pairs, that faded and soft look they get.

I’m delighted for you.

TreeSmuggler · 26/10/2021 06:01

I thought you were going to say - 10 washes, is that all? I wear mine 20-30 times between washes, unless something gets spilled on them.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 26/10/2021 06:17

I wash mine at 40 and tumble dry them - Levi 501s. The new ones say not to wash too often for environmental reasons. That's laudable but I wear mine to work (learning disabilities nursing in a community residential setting) and they absolutely have to be washed properly regularly!

I wash them almost every time I wear them to work (exceptions being if I just go in for a meeting or a few other specific scenarios) - usually they've been worn once or twice at home/ elsewhere first. So every 2-3 wears.

They're a tiny bit tighter after washing and drying but go back to normal within an hour's wear.
