What age is Seasalt aimed at?

I went shopping for a coat today and the lady is my local boutique was trying to convince me that most school mums wear Seasalt coats and Seasalt is great for my needs (warm, stylish, waterproof).

She seemed abit put out when I mentioned I felt Seasalt were too old for me and I felt their target market is late 40s plus.

What age would you say Seasalt is aimed at?

I love Whitestuff and FatFace soft fabrics and don't care about the comments on here. I see younger and older women than me in their shops, never made me worry I'd catch age-ing, or youth-ing for that matter Grin

@AmanitaRubescens

I wonder what people mean when they say their style is edgy
Usually the same sort of people who describes themselves as life and soul of the party. Anyone who describes themselves as that are anything but IME, same as 'edgy.'
Enough4me · 10/10/2021 23:54

Is edgy the new 'crazy, mental, wild' ?
For people who think they're unique but are really just normal but trying hard?

Yep Hmm
SirChenjins · 10/10/2021 23:59

And buy their clothes from shops that stock the same type of stuff. That Kooples place was a new one on me - £195 for this little beaut, anyone? www.thekooples.com/uk_en/navy-sweatshirt-with-screen-print-what-is-fswe23079knav01.html

Alternatively go to Pull and Bear or Primark, they’ll do you an edgy hoodie for a fraction of the price.

HoneyDewMel · 11/10/2021 00:02

Every time someone mentions an 'edgy' look I immediately think of Goths back when I was a teen, that kind of look, or Emo as it's been known more recently

Enough4me · 11/10/2021 00:05

@SirChenjins it's ok the t-shirt version is cheaper...only £85 Shock

SirChenjins · 11/10/2021 00:11

Ahhh, but you’re paying for the edge, remember? Worth £85 I’d say (no I wouldn’t)

SirChenjins · 11/10/2021 00:15

You could team your edgy hoodie and t shirt with an equally edgy pair of green corduroy suit pants - a mere snip at £240 www.thekooples.com/uk_en/green-corduroy-suit-pants-fpan23010kgrn19.html

DameMaureen · 11/10/2021 00:32

@NigellaSeed

I wouldn't buy crack from someone over 50 BlushBlush
Now that's cutting your nose off to spite your face 😂
NiceGerbil · 11/10/2021 00:40

Anyone who says they are edgy by definition isn't Grin

justchatting123 · 11/10/2021 00:52

@capercaillie

Seasalt used to have a younger funkier vibe. I loved the first things I bought from them in 1997- vibrant colours.
Definitely, I don't seem to like any of it anymore apart from the denim skirts and a Janelle for on the beach (essential in Cornwall on hols)

So they expect you to pay £195 for the privilege of providing them with free advertising?

I wouldn't even buy Gap sweatshirts for that reason.

BikeRunSki · 11/10/2021 07:26

On the same page as you with this too @RampantIvy!! Hate big logo tops.

I like Seasalt for it’s natural fibres, and being one of the few shops left remotely near me!

RampantIvy · 11/10/2021 07:32

I always pop in if I happen to go to Fox Valley. They were one of the first shops to open their changing rooms.

I don't know whether you have seen the Seasalt thread BTW. There are some "interesting" comments on it.

RampantIvy · 11/10/2021 07:32

Oops. This is the Seasalt thread Blush

BikeRunSki · 11/10/2021 07:37

Lol @RampantIvy! Yes, I go there too.

I agree,the quality is really good.

I've never understood the love for the Janelle coat on here, I can't imagine it looking nice on anyone but it's obviously a favourite as it's recommended so often. I have a jacket from there,can't remember the name and it kept me completely dry last weekend when it pissed down.

What looks good on one person can look horrendous on another- it's not to do with the clothes or which shop they came from (or if the model has grey hairHmm)

Those were meant to be grins.

JMAngel1 · 11/10/2021 09:56

How on earth is this thread 17 pages???😂
What is there to say about it other than it is dire?

SirChenjins · 11/10/2021 10:01

Dire in your opinion - not in mine. Obvs.

If posters just said they didn’t like it (as in, The Kooples is overpriced shite, really isn’t edgy, and I don’t like it) then fine, but when you’re throwing casual ageism around then other posters are going to (quite rightly) take you to task - which might run to 17 pages or even longer, there’s no word limit.

GreenTuftyFlowers · 11/10/2021 10:12

I'd say they were aimed at 40+ with a lot of buyers in their 50s, 60s and 70s.

Just had a look and glad to see not quite so much rust on everything - for a while they seemed to ruin every nice blue print with a generous smattering of rust. Makes no sense - if someone suits blue they generally don't suit orange - it also makes it harder to coordinate the blue with other colours.
Rant over :D

SirChenjins · 11/10/2021 10:21
