I have worn M&S bikini multipack knickers for donkeys years and they were brilliant. Comfy, no riding up, covered your bum properly, great value

Well of course they've had to piss about with them and now they have stupid lacy edging which literally falls to bits after one wash. Maddening. I bought some Next low rise shorts today (no bikinis in my size) and have tried them on at home. They are utter shit, and will be right up my bum after 5 mins. It's enough to make you scream

Can anyone recommend decent, bikini style, comfy knickers that stay put and don't ride up or fall down or otherwise drive you mad? Willing to pay what it takes at this stage. Ta!

Boody website says large is 12-14 and XL is 14-16. I’m a standard 14-which do I go for?!

I normally like the Sainsbury’s lace Brazilian no vpl shorts but they’ve changed the design and they are really rubbish now, so I’m looking for something else!

chicken12 · 09/09/2021 23:53

they roll down

Bashbaby · 10/09/2021 05:20

These are so comfortable…… They do different styles as well! www.amazon.co.uk/wirarpa-Ladies-Underwear-Knickers-Stretch/dp/B08LPMNLQ3?psc=1&th=1&ref_=ast_sto_dp&tag=mumsnetforu03-21

AlCalavicci · 10/09/2021 06:04

I only buy Slogi now , they are expensive but they last year's and are really comfy

lazylinguist · 10/09/2021 08:08

I bought another pack of Wirarpa after commenting on this thread. Different style- the mid-rise plain ones, which are fab and still flattering on the tum, without being as high-up as the hugh-rise ones look. There are comments on them on Amazon where people say they used to buy expensive Sloggi until they found these!

Do you mind me asking if it was these ones you got?

Can I ask if they have much of a VPL?!

Please point me to some decent knickers before I I lose my mind!
Niconacotaco · 10/09/2021 11:17

I have innersey ones already and really like them. I’ve just ordered Wirarpa mid-rise ones so can report back

QuentinBunbury · 10/09/2021 11:24

I like these accessorize ones at the moment.

Yes mine are these and give vpl. I only wear under dresses.

lazylinguist · 10/09/2021 15:19

@Howshouldibehave - I have the higher rise ones in the same style as those black ones in your screen shot (with the lines on the front). The other ones I just bought are plain mid-rise ones with no lines on here

I'm not sure about vpl tbh, it's not something I particularly bother about! I tend to wear longish tops and not very body-hugging things, so it's rarely a problem.

A few more thoughts from me on this, I’m sure some will disagree, but we are talking knickers here, not world politics.

For those who think they have found the holy grail, if something is all cotton: A lot of cotton is unethically produced and is neither kind to the environment or your skin.

Viscose is largely made from bamboo as l understand it and has more stretch than cotton.

I love soft lace, either trimmings or the whole thing. Stretch lace no matter what the actual base fabric is does breathe, it’s full of tiny holes.

If you wear tights and if you wear knickers under them, you are creating s similar environment for the body as knickers made from other fabrics anyway.

As for the VPL thing, surely all it means is that someone has knickers on. Many of us have bra outlines showing with some clothes and the police don’t get involved 😂.

Enjoy life’s variety, we are not all one shape and one size/shape doesn’t suit all.

I doubt anyone is going to buy cotton knickers, wear them and think they are the holy grail if they are not kind to their skin Confused. I find lace uncomfortable and don't like the feel of viscose at all. Cotton makes me feel cleaner and less... moist. I don't wear tights much, but having a layer of cotton between me and the tights still feels better than two layers of synthetic stuff.

I'm definitely with you on the VPL non-issue though.

MyrtlethePurpleTurtle · 10/09/2021 19:21

Sainsbury’s ones sold out of a size 16 😔

Wishiwasrunning2 · 10/09/2021 19:43

Has to be cotton

George at Asda

I buy the lace top ones - excellent quality for the price and they stay looking good.

They also do absolutely plain ones with no trims and I really rate their shapewear - really soft, comfortable, wash well and last. I always buy online.

MyMabel · 10/09/2021 20:07

I find high leg don’t go up my bum at all and find them flattering and comfy.

Also one for Sainsbury’s

I went for XL in the Boody and they are good - size 14 too, but I usually size up anyway.

I don't know if the bikini is the same but I've got some cotton ones from sports direct. Full ones that are perfect. Wide gusset so they don't ride up. I think the brand pour moi or something like that. £5 each. Bought by chance to use up a return voucher (due to their annoying no refund policy. ) But they are my favorites now

creampuff99 · 11/09/2021 04:32

Check out Ella and Me. Absolutely beautiful and comfortable pants

Can you tell me which shorts style you buy? I have the basic ones which I like but the waistband digs in a bit. I worry that the material of the other shorts styles will be sweaty or ride up though
WellTidy · 11/09/2021 11:57

My wiraparas arrived from Amazon yesterday so i have them on today. They have stayed put! First time I’ve had pants that have stayed put for years. They are the ones with a thick waistband that come in a four pack and look slightly like cool y-fronts 😂 but I like them very much. Bow looking for ones without the vertical stitching down the front for less of a y fronts look.

lazylinguist · 11/09/2021 14:45

Yay - I'm wearing some of those today too, WellTidy! I have some Wirarpa ones without the y-front look too.

WellTidy · 11/09/2021 16:12

I will be buying some of those wirarpas too lazylinguist. These y-front ones haven’t shifted all say which is a new one for me. I am a shortie though, so they come up really high, well above my belly button.
