I have worn M&S bikini multipack knickers for donkeys years and they were brilliant. Comfy, no riding up, covered your bum properly, great value

Well of course they've had to piss about with them and now they have stupid lacy edging which literally falls to bits after one wash. Maddening. I bought some Next low rise shorts today (no bikinis in my size) and have tried them on at home. They are utter shit, and will be right up my bum after 5 mins. It's enough to make you scream

Can anyone recommend decent, bikini style, comfy knickers that stay put and don't ride up or fall down or otherwise drive you mad? Willing to pay what it takes at this stage. Ta!

Thanks Puffa. They look comfy but I’m after cotton knickers and I don’t like lace. I might try the John Lewis ones as they’re cheap enough to make a mistake.

StarlightLady · 05/09/2021 07:35

The problem is we all have different body frames.

M&S Brazilians, in spite of the adverse comments here, suit my shape. I always select from the ones on hangers, not the multi packs though. I like to select my colours, not be told what to wear.

For me, the lace on the leg is really soft and comfy, more so than just elastic, I’ve never had a problem with the lace coming away in the wash. But l do always wash them in a delicates bag.

I always get puzzled by those who comment on thin material. I want both fine gossamer fabrics and stretch, l’m choosing underwear not a winter coat.

An anyone link to the exact Sainsbury’s ones please? There are so many and it’s confusing.

I’m having the same issue. The elastic came out of my M&S pants.

Girls knickers are no better. Boden 100% cotton ones only got up to age 12 which I’d an adult 6 I’d guess. Worth trying if you’re slight. No wedgies and lovely gusset. They are utterly the bis and I don’t know what I’ll do when my daughter outgrows them. We’ve tried their teen range but they’re not as good, neither are Next, M&S or Petit Bateau.

I get these ones.

(I haven't got this exact colour set, they change colours fairly frequently, but it's this sort of thing.) They're not glamorous, but they are extremely comfortable, even when cycling or running.

StarlightLady · 05/09/2021 09:19

In addition to my comments about M&S Brazilians earlier. In the warmer weather, with skirts and dresses for a real libertine feeling, l often don’t wear any at all. 🤫

It’s only a summer sport though.

But l don’t wear short skirts and l don’t do cartwheels!

I basically want sloggi big pants fabric and fit, but without the tiny leg holes ! I am “curvy” of thigh it is true, but even at a size 6 the same happened. Teen Dd is a size 4 and wears a 10 in the big sloggis to be comfortable on the thigh.
Does anyone else have this issue ?

Sisalcarpet · 05/09/2021 13:20

I know this seems like an unusual choice but I have been buying my pants from Damart of late and found the cotton quality to be good.

m.damart.co.uk/C-243537-briefs

The multi packs usually have slightly more modern designs than currently featured above ^

detachablehoof · 05/09/2021 14:58

I've just bought my first set of Boody knickers after seeing them recommended on this forum. Life. Changing!!

Shurl · 05/09/2021 15:03

My last few pairs of Sainsburys fell apart within a couple of washes, shame because I was a devotee.

In desperation I bought some Calvin klein bikinis, as my dp swears by the boxers. They are amazing. Thick cotton, wide enough over the but to stop riding up and seem to wash very very well. I think I might be slowly transitioning all my pants to them over the next few months, as others fall apart. I am finding that they are the first ones I reach for every morning until they are all in the wash basket

ImitationofBeing · 05/09/2021 15:06

Also now disgusted by M&S knickers. Bought a pair of Boody ones recently. The most comfy knickers I have ever worn. Practical, not sexy and like they are caressing your bum.

whataboutbob · 05/09/2021 15:13

I have nothing to suggest but glad it’s not only me who feels M&S knickers have gone downhill. Boody looks good @detachablehoof. Is the bamboo fabric as nice as cotton?

Autumnweather · 05/09/2021 15:20

The Boody underwear looks great. I discovered bamboo tights last year and love them.

Softpebbles · 05/09/2021 15:33

I really rate fat face pants!

Three0fivepointfour · 05/09/2021 15:50

Oh gosh, yes, with the need to size up with Sloggis. I was 10 and the 14 I bought was a bit tight. Now I’m a 12 i can’t wear them.

FrequentFlyer96 · 05/09/2021 15:54

Stripe and stare knickers are ridiculously comfortable, definitely worth a try

Surprisingly I found Primark girls’ pants have a good wide gusset. They’re a bit flimsy but they really do fit. H&M plain ones okay too. Even John Lewis and M&S seem to cut little girls’ knickers with a teeny few centimetres of gusset which my DD finds so uncomfortable as they don’t fit properly across!

Following this thread as my last couple of M&S packs have barely lasted a few months - their old style cotton bikinis used to last for donkeys’ years, but these ones have silly lace bits all around the edges which have gone grey, broken and holey almost instantly!

Just ordered my annual job lot of magic wear opaque tights from them too and yes, they’ve messed around with those as well. So disappointed. Why TF do women’s clothes retailers not listen? There have been threads on here going back fifteen years about where M&S are going wrong, and yet they still crap up their decent basics.

I have the Sloggi basic cotton women's boxer short and I actually find them true to size. They told me to size up so I got a 14 (I'm usually a 12-14 in trousers) and they're too loose but a 12 fits perfectly and not tight on the leg. Maybe it's the style.
jerometheturnipking · 05/09/2021 16:04

Do the thick knickers not come with VPL issues? My absolute favourites are my M&S microfibre no-VPL shorts, but they're getting worse for the wear now and I'm going to have to replace them. I'm dreading it. I have some of the M&S cotton bikini ones, but they cut across my arse something horrid so I can't wear them with my work trousers.

bellabride · 05/09/2021 16:16

Try Stripe and Stare.

Pigtailsandall · 05/09/2021 17:34

The JL own brand bikini pants are amazing. They've lasted years. Sainsbury's do a similar style, but the stretch gave in after about a year

GertietheGherkin · 05/09/2021 17:47

Falary or Sloggi no contest. Boody are great too 👍

Squiz81 · 05/09/2021 17:48

Don’t get the tonal waistband ones from Sainsbury’s the waistband falls off.

My favourite knickers are Fatface also have a great pair from rapanui but not sure on the cost of them as they were part of a bundle deal.

Lottapianos · 05/09/2021 19:08

'Bought a pair of Boody ones recently. The most comfy knickers I have ever worn. Practical, not sexy and like they are caressing your bum.'

Sound great, look great. Am I the only one who balls at TWELVE QUID for a pair of knickers?!

Tried Sainsburys today - nothing useful in my size. Wore the Next shorts today and they weren't great, but not a total disaster either. They ride up and cut my cheeks in half but this may be less of an issue in the winter I reckon

Primark next......

You did say in your OP that at this point you'd pay whatever it takes...
