I would love some wide navy trousers in flannel or wool. Not thin and plastic. Nope never happens. How about you?

Have you tried these? I have one which looks really smart, is really lightweight and foldable and properly waterproof. Well used for dog walks this summer due to the torrential rain, but also wear it to work (smart, corporate):

www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-blocktech-hooded-coat-429061.html?dwvar_429061_color=COL09&dwvar_429061_size=SMA002&cgid=IDblocktechcoats1148&hassubcat=false

Ilse Jacobsen do something similar but more £££
I've actually looked at this before and been put off because it says it's not completely waterproof (as I said I live in Scotland!), how do you find it holds up in the rain?

BikeRunSki · 17/08/2021 12:23

@mrmagpie and @newrubylane

Smart, properly waterproof coat. DH used to work in outdoor retail. These would sell out as soon as they came in. Patagonia make it for hardcore outdoor activities - mountaineering, surfing, kayaking etc - and apply the same technology and fabrics to their "City" range. And they pretty much invented ethical business practices 30 years ago if that floats your boat.

£200 it a lot of cash for a rain coat I grant you, but you'll still have in in 10 + years. DH (skinny) still wears a Patagonia mountaineering jacket he got 22 years ago. I still have some thermals which I got nearly 30 years ago - I work and play outside, they have been in use all that time!

@DublinDoris2000

Levi 501s with an extra couple of inches round the waist. Most jeans that fit my bum are too tight round the waist. Levis used to do a range with three shape types. Not sure why they discontinued them. Knee length boots (flat, black) for longer legs. Really flattering they hit your knee, not so much mid calf.
@DublinDoris2000 Have a look on eBay as I've seen loads of the old Curve ID jeans on there.
OakPine · 17/08/2021 13:02

Blouses made in a decent natural fabric. I've bought so much rubbish recently - see through, thin fabric that rips/holes within months.
In theory I'm ok with paying a bit extra for quality, but it is very difficult to judge online.
I'm sick of seeing blouses that look nice, eye watering price of 100-300 for a blouse, and I'm still thinking "well maybe...", then I click on "Details" and it says 100% polyester, or my pet hate greenwash - 100% sustainable viscose! Nope!

Wishingwell75 · 17/08/2021 13:03

@BikeRunSki yes the calf issue is also one of mine!
I have found some high waisted wide leg jeans on h&m. Awaiting their arrival and hoping they won't be too high waisted and also have read mixed reviews about having to size up. (Which I haven't.)
Two models in the photos, one wearing the jeans high on her torso but the other has sort shucked them down so they look more low rise and they're still long and loose - it says she's 5ft 11ins!
Also, they have some straight leg jeans that look good.

Ooh @Wishingwell75, let me know what they are like when they arrive! I’ve always worked on the basis that nothing in H&M would but me, being a more sturdy 14/16, but I have lost a bit of weight recently.

IjustbelieveinMe · 17/08/2021 13:17
@doodlejump1980 I have these and they're totally amazeballs
wide leg floaty pants
I love Gorman!

BikeRunSki · 17/08/2021 13:50

I’d like a thick canvas or waxed cotton dark grey biker jacket. Diagonal zip. Like a classic black leather “Fonz” jacket, but dark grey and heavy cotton. Not sweatshirt fabric, not knitted, not fake leather.

Wishingwell75 · 17/08/2021 14:19

I will indeed let you know @BikeSkiRun! 😁
H&M go up to a size 22 and also have a + range that goes up to I think 4xl which must be 28-30, I think, don't quote me.
I find most things true to size (currently I'm 16-18) but I have heard the jeans are sometimes small but I am excited to see!
Long-winded way of saying you'd have no probs, congrats on the weight loss!

Anordinarymum · 17/08/2021 14:20

A really stylish and beautiful Kaftan that I can wear around the house and garden instead of pyjamas.

I had one years ago and gave it to charity by mistake

Clevs · 17/08/2021 14:28

Light blue bootcut jeans. Everywhere seems to sell skinny jeans these days and light blue is hard to find as well.

windmill26 · 17/08/2021 14:29

A "Loden" style coat with a more modern cut/length in navy.
I managed to find it a few years back but unfortunately the online store went out of business suddenly ....so the search continues!

MrsKDB · 17/08/2021 14:35

one of the big LV checked totes. I almost bought one in 2017 in Florence and have regretted not doing so ever since. It's been OOS forever on the LV website and I am too worried about fakes to buy second hand (plus I don't mind investing as I know I'll use it forever).

dannydyerismydad · 17/08/2021 14:36

A stylish but comfortable pair of shoes that goes with everything.

nordica · 17/08/2021 14:54

The perfect black skirt. I have so many but none of them are quite right.

My ideal black skirt would be about knee length on me (I'm 5ft3), have an elasticated waist, ideally a heavyweight but soft fabric that doesn't need ironing, and the shape would be somewhere between A-line and a full skirt.

Everything I buy is either too long, too short or not quite the right shape.

Jampot1 · 17/08/2021 15:02

A camisole with or without a built in bra that isn't skin right in the body. I had a perfect one from M and S in the eighties with slightly wider straps as well ... I often think about it!

DukeOfEarlGrey · 17/08/2021 15:05

I have a dream blouse that I’ve never found in real life. It’s teal green/blue, pure silk, balloon sleeves, with a fitted body and a pussy bow neck. I think about that blouse a weird amount given that I’ve never seen it and have quite a lot else on my mind.

DukeOfEarlGrey · 17/08/2021 15:07

Oh my god, this. It’s outrageous.
allofthecheese · 17/08/2021 15:08

Non see-through white boxy top with long sleeves. Preferably cropped.

QueenPeary · 17/08/2021 15:08

Interesting, dark-coloured or bright but not white, graphic t-shirts that are quality/fashiony/arty but not naff or slogany. It's very hard to find what I want because I have a very specific style in mind. Once in a while I spot something I quite like and it turns out to be £300 Angry

Also I once had some cheap neoprene black and white sandals from Next that you could wear in water, but they were also just everyday sandals. They were very plain and simple, not covered in sporty detail like most sports sandals. They were the comfiest, coolest, most stylish sandals I ever had and I wore them to shreds. Never, ever been able to finds them again or anything similar :(

whataboutbob · 17/08/2021 15:09

@SocksAndTheCity

A really good plain white t-shirt that's a decent weight and washes nicely, isn't too short and fits my shape properly without the fabric bunching up under the arms. I have been looking for about thirty years.
I’m assuming you have tried Petit Bateau? That’s my go to.
QueenPeary · 17/08/2021 15:12

I want an early 2000s hoodie. 100% cotton, incredibly thick and soft. If it has 'Ralph Lauren' or 'Duffer' written on it I don't care. It will feel like a hug and nourish my soul. It would cost over a hundred quid and I wouldn't grudge a penny of it.

Morris try Monki, Weekday or Arket. I now have several super-soft snuggly 100% cotton hoodies and sweats like this!

drspouse · 17/08/2021 15:14

Higher waisted, cotton undies that don't have that 70 year old Nana vibe.

You might like Scrundlewear.

WellTidy · 17/08/2021 17:14

@SpindleWhorl great, glad you like them!
