I would love some wide navy trousers in flannel or wool. Not thin and plastic. Nope never happens. How about you?

I bought 2 fabulous wrap cardigans from M&S in the 90s which were thigh length. One navy and one grey, both in a medium weight merino wool. They formed part of my working uniform!

Every year I look for something similar and nobody…but nobody does them that length. They’re all based around the ballet wraps which finish around the waist.

I’ve even tried to find someone who makes knitwear to order in desperation.

  • Short tops which just meet your skirt/trousers but are not cropped tops.
  • New trousers/jeans which don’t come up to your bra and cut you in half when you try to sit down.
  • A deep scooped back swimming cossie.

@splodge
This one is a bit pricey but is it the sort of thing you want?

there was an advert can`t remember what for but the actress wore the most lovely cardigan it was a very deep blue with a thick cable down middle of the back and the bottom was shaped very flatteringly I would love to find it.

LadyEloise1 · 27/08/2021 09:47

More square necked dresses and tops.
So much more flattering than round or v necks

I love square necked things. I don't know why there aren't more of them around.

My collar bones practically my only remaining visible bones Smile

coodawoodashooda · 27/08/2021 14:08

A boucle blazer cardi combo.

coronafiona · 27/08/2021 14:16

@doodlejump1980 I finally found a pair from John Lewis, fennweight Manson (I think- don't normally spend that much money!) I spent loads on them but have worn them millions of times, it's worth the investment sometimes

@DelphineMarineaux
Try Aspiga for your white maxi dress.
The Audrey and Gracie dresses from Aspiga look nice

SpindleWhorl · 27/08/2021 18:04

I used to have a lovely long black Gillian Anderson / David Duchovny 'FBI' coat from Debenhams, and some bugger stole it from a coat rail at a retirement do for a work colleague. (I didn't even want to go ffs.)

I'd love to find another one.

For those looking for a long waterproof coat check out the coats on the Jack Murphy website.
jackmurphy.ie

They'd match with Dubarry boots really well, I think.

First of all I want to be able to filter for whether or not clothes are dry clean only when I’m shopping online. This is a much more useful filter than e.g. colour.

Secondly I want to be able to buy a fitted shirt dress that doesn’t have a belt. I hate dresses with belts. I’m only 5’5” - I don’t want it to touch the top of my ankle boots (which seems the be standard for anything described as midi). Oh, and not to be huge over the busy but tight around the shoulders. And not floral. Or any shade of pink.

I’d also like more clothes in size 8/10 with longer sleeves. I have very long arms. It would be nice to be able to routinely buy tops/jumpers/dresses that have sleeves which actually reach my wrists. Men’s shirts come in different arm lengths, so why is the same not true for women’s blouses?

Finally, I’d like the trend for high necked everything to die a death and never return.

lollipoprainbow · 29/08/2021 08:58

A black slouchy off the shoulder top any ideas ?!

Oldraver · 29/08/2021 10:05

I've been searching for years for a pair of red Statright t-bar sandals but they only go up to 12.5 now. OH has some dark blue ones but they must of been the last ones they made

LivingDeadGirlUK · 29/08/2021 11:08

@LeonardLikesThisPost I've got fitted hooded t shirts from GAP and Bench in the past.

BigFatBloomers · 31/08/2021 08:42

@Oldraver
Do you mean this sort of sandal?

A stylish navy or black shoe that is not a "car to bar" shoe.

A mid heel shoe that is both navy and black - my go to base colours- it would make my choice of shoe to wear each day in autumn / winter/ early spring so easy.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 02/09/2021 15:02

Cotton pyjamas with a button top, like my grandad used to wear, please!

Oldraver · 02/09/2021 21:47

@IncessantNameChanger

There are a few Victorian style coats from Joe browns I would like in my size (20) but they only go up to 18. Alas, I might need to loose a stone or four. I have one and I love it.
Have a look at some of the online catalogues that stock Joe Brown as they do larger sizes

Yes, that is almost perfect, I just love the Startrite ones and they no longer do the bigger sizes unless someone has some at the back of a wardrobe like we have the blue ones

@IncessantNameChanger like this ?

LadyEloise1 · 10/09/2021 17:35

I'd like to get black suede slouchy calf length boots that are not too high.

Gabor Oslo are the nearest I can get but I swore not to buy boots or shoes online ever again as the returns postage is astronomical from Ireland and custom's charges and handling charges for the custom's charges are now being added because of Brexit Shock.
You have it so easy in the UK with free returns.

BigFatBloomers · 13/09/2021 02:52

I can’t sleep so thought I’d come back to this thread.
@BikeRunSki
How about this for a grey cotton biker jacket? I think it’s velvet though
