I would love some wide navy trousers in flannel or wool. Not thin and plastic. Nope never happens. How about you?

@NameChangePropertyAdvice

I want knitted or jersey biker cardigans in autumn colours.

And I mourn my deliberate destruction of an open back khaki jumper from Oliver Bonas a few years ago. I couldn't work out how to wear it back then but now I know I'd wear it all the time 😭

A biker cardigan like this @NameChangePropertyAdvice?

A vintage styled cotton shirt with sleeves and collar and embroidery at front . Wore them from second hand shops constantly in my 20’s but now I am much fatter and real vintage is absolutely tiny!
Any suggestions most welcome!

@goose1964

Wide calf boots that don't cost a fortune
Evans, Simply Be, Pavers etc.

A little Peter Pan collar, or a wide 50s collar? Or more of a peasant blouse with sleeves?
peaceanddove · 18/08/2021 08:58

arseinthecoopeindow thank you, I often look at COS and &Other Stories but they invariably have some real wool in them. It's so annoying that I can't wear anything even with just 5% wool in it Angry

DukeOfEarlGrey · 18/08/2021 09:06

@JMAngel1 thank you! I like the idea of having a seamstress make something Smile

trunumber · 18/08/2021 09:10

@goose1964 - primark do wide fitting boots. I'm a size 20 in clothes and 9 in shoes and they always fit me

Nobranothanks · 18/08/2021 10:23

A denim skirt that isn't a line or half a line. They look awful on me. I need something that fits over my bum not flares!

NameChangePropertyAdvice · 18/08/2021 10:27

@Coffee4Queen - yes, like that but less womanly 😂

@BikeRunSki

High waisted, non skinny, non bootleg jeans. I have very pronounced calf muscles, and most trousers don’t pull up over my shins. Long bodied jumpsuit Long bodied anything - a choice of leg lengths in trousers is pretty standard now, which it was the same for tops. And tall fit dresses, where the waist abs bust are lower, as well as the skirt being longer. Size 9 shoes Natural fibres - Seasalt are good, but I don’t want to dress like a toddler all the time.
YES to a choice of body lengths! I’m only 5’3 but have a long torso and swimsuits/bodysuits/‘high waisted’ jeans etc are a pain.

On that note, i’d also love it if jeans and trousers were sized like bras, based on your waist measurement and hip measurement. I have a 12-inch difference between my waist and my hips and usually have to adjust off-the-peg trousers to fit my waist properly.

NotMiranda · 18/08/2021 12:44

For me it's largely about fabrics: I'd like skirts and trousers made of very fine woven wool (challis is what Liberty call it), and for summer, tops and dresses made of a silk and cotton mix, or for more structured items, silk and linen mix. Oh, and I'm always on the lookout for long (knee-length) cardigans in fine merino wool.

I have, in my time, had all of these things and loved them (and worn them to death), but as PPs have commented, it's really hard to find lovely fabrics on the high street/online these days. Anyone asking me for £100+ for a polyester garment can get to fuck.

bluedomino · 18/08/2021 13:05

I really want waterproof leggings that fit my huge thighs and bottom that are cut long enough to reach my (much smaller) waist. And all waterproof coats to have double zips so I can undo the bottom to fit over my huge hips. Or just cut womens clothes for hips rather than straight up and down. I also don't understand how tops have the same size arms if you have a size 10 or size 18. My upper arms are big, think I have lipodema and clothes are a nightmare. Fitness clothes with lots of pockets not just leggings pocket. My gym won't allow bags but I can't fit my keys, phone and membership card in my single pocket. Also why are most fitness tops pink? I don't look good hot, red and sweaty against a pink tshirt.

noodlezoodle · 18/08/2021 14:15

@MrsPear - I have some lovely wide leg wool trousers that were part of the Ines de la Fressange at Uniqlo collection last year. There's a new collection about to come out so you might be lucky? (Or ebay?)

@Guineapigbridge my new favourite undies are M&S Flexifit. So comfy, not nana-ish.

@lollipoprainbow tea dresses are back in! Marks have loads at the moment and so do Whistles have some.

@SpindleWhorl - how about One Hundred Stars for a kimono?

@NotMiranda, Cos do a lot of natural fabrics, I have a lovely silk/cotton knit short sleeved jumper from them and they have a lot of cotton and poplin.

DelphineMarineaux · 18/08/2021 15:44

The perfect white maxi dress. It has to be ankle length, whimsical, feminine, well-fitted and casual enough to wear daily. All white maxi dresses I have come across are either ball gowns or wedding dresses, frumpy-looking, potato sacks with no shape to them or just cheap and tacky.

countrytown · 18/08/2021 15:48

I want these! polka dot or plain black

What item of clothing would you love but can never find?
Briset · 18/08/2021 16:01

Trousers with a side zip!

They are universally flattering, especially if you have a big tummy like me. I also have longish legs in proportion to my body and side zip trousers just look great! There used to be capri pant style trousers all over the place (Boden did them years ago) having no waistband also helps with the streamlining around the waist.

All trousers now have a central zip and bulky waist band which adds inches of bulk to the middle. Why?

greenpeg · 18/08/2021 16:03

pyjama pantry? haven't bought from them but they look nice

greenpeg · 18/08/2021 16:04

sorry - that was for person who wanted long pyjamas with pockets

InTheNameOfAllThatIsHonest · 18/08/2021 16:17

@Guineapigbridge

I want a wedge sandal that doesn't clop clop clop like Billy goats gruff when I walk, too.
For that you need one that holds you from the front and back of the ankle, similar to this www.dorothyperkins.com/taupe-ray-ray-wedge-sandal-/AQQ16376-641-17.html?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&gclid=CjwKCAjw3_KIBhA2EiwAaAAlij_PGhq1R6Sh65xWaz_1ta_Q8DkUMkYx0k3Rzx3rnckanhH-0ecCfBoCgokQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I find that the fact that the strap around the ankle is attached to the shoe further back than others, that stops the shoe from 'leaving' your heel and thus avoids the clop clop (which I also loathe).

Cyanchicken · 18/08/2021 16:25

A scoop neck white T-shirt in good quality cotton not too clingy

VioletSand · 18/08/2021 16:30

@Laska2Meryls

Clarks used to do a perfect pair of calf length biker boots about 10 years ago.. (so good that I bought 2 pairs and kept getting them resoled) but theyve never done anything as good since ..

Also I have looked and looked for nice navy leather boots ..

Try this place! Custom made to fit you in the style and colour you choose.

Love this thread.
I want an edge to edge /slightly shawl collar soft fine merino longish cardigan in charcoal. Had one from Gap and wore it to death. It was so classy and comfy and went with everything.

Pinktruffle · 18/08/2021 16:47

Smart flat calf/knee length boots that I can wear with dresses to work. I had a pair that I bought from Next nearly 20 years ago, they were great. Then they broke and I never found another pair. They are all clunky chunky types to be worn with jeans or too casual for work. I'm on my feet constantly at work so they need to be flat or just a slight heel sigh

VioletSand · 18/08/2021 16:47

@mistermagpie

A smart, waterproof, hooded, lightweight, long jacket or mac in plain navy or black.

It has to be smart enough to wear with a work dress and handbag but have a proper hood and be properly waterproof- ideally goretex or similar. But not be heavily branded or a ridiculous colour or make me look like I'm off to the Lake District for a walking holiday.

I have something very warm and insulated that fits the bill for winter but there just does not seem to be anything like that for summer (in Scotland where it still rains all the time).
