I would love some wide navy trousers in flannel or wool. Not thin and plastic. Nope never happens. How about you?

I’m not very tall, and would love a warm waterproof jacket with hood and big pockets that doesn’t reach my ankles!

Any ideas?

TheVolturi · 18/08/2021 20:49

I've been after a camo print jacket for ages. I had one years ago and lost it, and even though I'm a bit old now I want it back!

LunaTheCat · 18/08/2021 21:11

“Hadntthoightofthis*
I don’t mind - it’s the total look of vintage 50’s style.

WhileMyMeringueGentlyWeeps · 18/08/2021 21:20

Real soft velvet dress that isn't too expensive or need dry cleaning.
Ditto a jacket. I had a vintage one years ago which I wore until it was balding.
The Indian cotton maxi skirt I had in my youth. So easy to wear-elasticated waist!
Comfortable Mary Janes to replace my Clarks ones which are nearly worn out.

ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul · 18/08/2021 21:27

Oohhh, really want a brown plaited/woven leather handbag. Bit boho, Ali McGraw-esque. Please shout if you see one!

Crimeismymiddlename · 18/08/2021 21:34

A man style sweater made to fit a women, thin material in a variety of colours. Had a few from primark a few years ago and got to fat for them. Flared jeans, in a light wash with a high waist to fit a 29”/30” leg. All the ones I have found seem to be made for the extremely tall. Those slouchy boots we all wore in the early noughties, they made legs look mint.

GuidoTheKillerPimp · 18/08/2021 21:35

@Bringmemoonshine

I once had the perfect knitted silk navy sweater. Deepish v, the perfect length. Warm in winter, light in summer. Dress up or down. I wore it to death. Have never found another. It came from M& S mid eighties. I’d love another one.

I had the same sweater, although mine was from Mark One. I accidentally set it on fire in 1996.
I mourn its passing almost daily.

Crimeismymiddlename · 18/08/2021 21:37

Actually any trousers/jumpsuits/maxi dresses that are made for people shorter that 5’10.
Coats with arms that are ether the correct size for my T. rex arms or that can be turned up easily, perhaps with buttons or poppers on the inside, I can be the only person who struggles with this.

Bertiebiscuit · 18/08/2021 22:36

We women really don't ask for much and yet the shops are full of tat that none of us wants - personally I would kill for a plain knee length pure wool kilt - when I was young we all wore kilts with jumpers and thick tights on winter I would love to go back to this style now

DukeOfEarlGrey · 18/08/2021 22:47

And I can’t remember which pp asked about wide size 9 shoes but I have the same feet and almost all of my shoes come from LK Bennett and Hobbs.

Thighdentitycrisis · 18/08/2021 23:25

A vert dark green soft leather slouch shoulder bag

VioletSand · 19/08/2021 02:15

@Barney60

Lined dresses, i hate that you can see through summer dresses. I know i can buy underskirts but i dislike extra straps on my very narrow shoulders.
All of the dresses I have from The Fold are lined. Lots of summer styles.

Lol!! Please show me where these places are that make clothes for 5'10" women!!! Would love to find them.
Mintjulia · 19/08/2021 02:52

Clothes, especially dresses that are cut for taller ladies. The British high street cuts for 5'5" which is average. I'm 5'8" so the waists are three inches too high and look ridiculous.

And more things made for slim people. I know generally people are heavier built now but most of the tops I've tried recently, I could have worn at 7 months pregnant.

CallieOpie · 19/08/2021 03:05

@Guineapigbridge have you looked at Thunderpants? Their classic style is highwaisted, and lovely thick cotton fabric. Love them.

@CMOTDibbler

Currently, I want a coat. Wool/cashmere, not black, with some nice detailing (contrast colour piping for instance), a beautiful lining, fitted to the waist, button fastening (not a belt, they look awful on me), and then full skirted to mid calf/ ankles. Prepared to pay serious money for one, but can find nothing I like esp as everything seems to have a belt

I really love tops that are slouchy on the shoulder so it shows off one shoulder if that makes sense ?!

lollipoprainbow · 19/08/2021 04:03

Does anyone remember the black patent jackets from the 90's?! I think mine was from mark one I wore and wore it I loved it.

SquirrelFan · 19/08/2021 04:30

I found in a charity shop in the 80s a pair of men's 50s or 60s pyjama trousers made of this remarkable fabric-sort of like flannel or brushed cotton on the inside, and semi-satiny on the outside. They were a gorgeous blue and I wore them till they fell apart. I wish I could find something like them again, or anything in that mysterious fabric!
Also a cropped (because I have the shortest waist in the world) navy cardigan blazer. I used to have one from... Principles? but it grew shapeless, and one arm got longer than the other to a ridiculous degree and it had to go.
@ComeBackPeterComeBackPaul how about this: www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/cleo-woven-leather-tote-tan/sty-a0976-tan?gclid=EAIaIQobChMInrvmtsW78gIVENPtCh1acwuaEAQYCiABEgLdiPD_BwE
Thank you! That is lovely, though not quite the shape I’m after. Funnily enough Boden did have a smaller bag which I really liked but, for some reason, they wouldn’t ship it to France where I live.

catfunk · 19/08/2021 06:03

Op have you tried cos ?

Notarealmum · 19/08/2021 06:04

My holy grail is a full (i.e. generous midi) length raincoat that’s reasonably stylish, not puffa/quilted and, crucially, has a hood. I like trench style but none have hoods and the coats that do are always too short. I’ve seen lots of excellent rainwear recommendations on MM but none exactly fits my bill.

TWBAEM · 19/08/2021 07:02

Dark brown, leather ankle boots, with a slight heel that lace up. All the ones I have seen either have the lacing just for show, with a zip as the actual fastening (which is so annoying as many say they are lace up until you examine the photos and spot a zip) or are heavy/clompy/hiking/dm style boots.

Yes, if you mean the little fold-over shoulder bag I have that one and it’s what prompted me to hunt for you! It looks like it’s gone altogether now though. Oh, well - the 70s are a current trend so fingers crossed you find something somewhere else. I love a bit of 70s style!
