I would love some wide navy trousers in flannel or wool. Not thin and plastic. Nope never happens. How about you?

Model is 170cm and it’s below her knees, the trench coat I mean

grownup2 · 20/08/2021 03:15

@mistermagpie

A smart, waterproof, hooded, lightweight, long jacket or mac in plain navy or black.

It has to be smart enough to wear with a work dress and handbag but have a proper hood and be properly waterproof- ideally goretex or similar. But not be heavily branded or a ridiculous colour or make me look like I'm off to the Lake District for a walking holiday.

I have something very warm and insulated that fits the bill for winter but there just does not seem to be anything like that for summer (in Scotland where it still rains all the time).

#mistermagpie My Scottish sister said that too. She borrowed my Uniqlo coat and liked it www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/women-blocktech-hooded-coat-424579.html?dwvar_424579_color=COL69&dwvar_424579_size=SMA001&cgid=IDblocktechcoats1148&hassubcat=false

Ooh, now, this I like the look of…. Thanks for the link!

@TWBAEM

Dark brown, leather ankle boots, with a slight heel that lace up. All the ones I have seen either have the lacing just for show, with a zip as the actual fastening (which is so annoying as many say they are lace up until you examine the photos and spot a zip) or are heavy/clompy/hiking/dm style boots.
www.sezane.com/en/product/eugenie-boots/chocolate concealed zip I’m afraid but the lacing looks to be functional as well?
Ritascornershop · 20/08/2021 05:33

Mock turtleneck sweater, preferably in silk/wool mix, with medium width alternating grey and mustard coloured stripes.

Also a wool winter coat with sort of curvy 1930’s or 1940’s style lapels in a lovely cherry red. Hopefully with a nipped in waist.

@NameChangePropertyAdvice

I want knitted or jersey biker cardigans in autumn colours.

And I mourn my deliberate destruction of an open back khaki jumper from Oliver Bonas a few years ago. I couldn't work out how to wear it back then but now I know I'd wear it all the time 😭

Brora do knitted biker cardigans every year: www.broraonline.com/uk/merino-biker-jacket-citrine-fnlc965km9152

How about this coat? Looks like it’s from China but has great reviews

Thanks @ToManderleyAgain it's just that zip I find really annoying! They are gorgeous apart from that though!

stillcrazyafterall · 20/08/2021 10:32

Something that makes me look 4 stone lighter.

Thanks, but I’m not the kilt-lover, in the one looking for a long mac (and may well have found one thanks to your excellent thread!) 😀

serenenadine · 20/08/2021 13:34

Notarealmum

I keep having pop ups of below knee length hooded macs.

Ritascornershop · 20/08/2021 13:52

Thanks @BigFatBloomers that is about perfect. I haven’t bought a new winter coat in years - it seems pricey? Great shape though.

Supersimkin2 · 20/08/2021 14:02

A bralette for big knockers to wear under sleeveless dresses - one that supports but doesn't look like engineering or a drag act. Plain but nice straps, please.

How big ? this goes up to N 18. Havn’t tried it yet though.

Bravissimo have some nice ones
TheGirlOnTheLanding · 21/08/2021 07:12

Whoever was looking for long pyjamas with pockets, I second the recommendation of https://www.pajamapantry.co.uk/ - you can have them hemmed to the length you want. And there are some peach and turquoise fabrics, for the person who wanted those, depending on what size you're after.

My wish list is Seasalt Breton tops but not striped - I love the heavy weight of the cotton and the cut, but there are only so many stripey tops a girl can wear. I know they do plain tops but they are not the same, they are lighter weight stretchier jersey so more clingy.

Also a big slouchy cross body everyday bag in suede or very soft leather for less than £150. I had a perfect grey suede one from White Stuff years ago which eventually disintegrated. All the ones I've seen since that are soft and slouchy have short shoulder bag length straps rather than being long enough to wear cross body and because the style has a grown-on strap rather than detachable you can't swap it out for a longer one.

Also wool 30s style wide leg trousers, turn up optional. Sick of seeing £80-100 trousers then discovering in the details they're polyester when the equivalent men's trousers at the same price point are wool.

Deathraystare · 21/08/2021 07:34

I am actually surprised at the number of things I bought recently that seem to fit and suit me! One very hot day I wore white jeggins and a white top. No I do not have a perfect body- unless a size 20 apple shape is perfect! But somehow I did not look huge!

However, in an ideal world there would be no viscose (makes me sweat like a pig!), although it seems there are different types. I made a mistake and bought something viscose from QVC and I think it was a better quality than the 'sweat bag' stuff in the cheapie shops.

I am fed up of all the above the knee dresses and skirts though I sure some people do have nice knees.

Going slightly off topic from fashion to beauty - oh for a hair removing cream that doesn't give me more of a tash the next day! I remove it then the buggers start sprouting again the next day. Particularly upsetting if I use the wrong size mirror (magnifying!).

Bluesheep8 · 21/08/2021 07:47

Soft denim relaxed fit light wash dungarees, full length to be rolled up.
I've been searching for 3 years Confused

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/08/2021 08:03

Thought of some more:
Plain black or grey PJs in cotton or a cotton mix

A summer weight cotton robe in black or grey

A lightweight plain black waterproof packable mac with a hood that isn't too big

Silk and cotton mix tops - M&S used to do these well

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 21/08/2021 08:20

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie I thought I'd seen a black cotton robe in H&M but it's actually linen - any good?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/08/2021 08:23

@TheGirlOnTheLanding
That's lovely, thank you. I'll try and check it out in real life.

RedElephants · 21/08/2021 08:42

Trousers that cover your ankles!!

So many trousers it seems at the moment are ankle grazers, which is all very well in the summer, but do not cover or tuck in the top of ankle boots.

RedElephants · 21/08/2021 08:43

Oh, a.l women's coats should have an inside pocket in my opinion....

NameChangePropertyAdvice · 21/08/2021 09:21

@ToManderleyAgain Thanks - love that yellow! But I tried theirs a few years ago and they came up huge and shapeless 😪
