Is there a perfume/aftershave that you can’t BEAR

What perfumes give you the boke?

Whilst not strictly a perfume, I picked up a can of Impulse ‘hint of musk’ recently and it reminded me of mothballs and net curtains - bleurgh.

I sprayed a sample of Jo Malone orange blossom today and I hate it, it smells like Lemsip on me.

Ester Lauder Sensuous - gave me such a headache, I gave the bottle away practically still full😵‍💫
Can’t bear Ester Lauder White Linen but Pure White Linen is much nicer.
When I was starting the menopause, I went off so many of my perfumes (and DH aftershaves) I could only cope with very light citrusy scents for about 2 years!

Marc Jacobs Lola, bought it in New York when I was there for Christmas 2009. Was still wearing it when I got home after Christmas, then my mum was taken into hospital and died ten days later.

Thank god it's discontinued!

Definitely Lou Lou, smells like BO to me.

The first time I ever did anything with a boy it absolutely stunk when he finished

Womanity- Thierry mugler.

Even when my brother is near it his eczema flares and his face swells, it’s horrific

Chanel No5 smells like wee to me.

Thanks for reminding me about Clinique aromatics, I love it but it's very strong. YSL baby doll has vanished, haven't seen it for years.

I hate all lynx. It smells so bad. It catches on my throat. It's banned from my house.

I hate joop, angel, alien, most Dior perfumes, most Chanel perfumes, CK1, it goes on and on.

Jo Malone Bronzewood and Leather. It smells like a 1970 hospital corridor.

Chanel No.5 = cat's piss
Eau Dynamisante = cat's piss
Santal 33 = distinctly masculine

the last two were purchased (one full size, one sample) after reading mumsnet recommendations!

Thanks for reminding me about Clinique aromatics, I love it but it's very strong. YSL baby doll has vanished, haven't seen it for years.

YSL Babydoll is one of my all time favourites and I'm rationing what I have left of it; one of the reasons it's vanished is possibly that the remaining bottles are packed away in the back of the cupboard in my bathroom .

@GnTplease I know - I can think of plenty of perfumes I don't like and wouldn't wear (and lots of different ones I like too), but Santal 33 is the only time one has ever made me feel physically sick and it was really odd

Chanel - Mademoiselle.

Only because it seems every single woman douses themselves in it wears it

Angel for me too. When it first came out I was with a friend who had just brought it who drowned herself in it. I got a whopper of a migraine that day and now if I smell it I relate it to migraines.

Another voice to the chorus of Angel haters, absolutely the worst!

Going back in time..dewberry, aquamanda, patchouli.oil and anything musk.

Poison - I tested it on a ferry as a teenager, just before the sea got rough. Bad idea.

Este Lauser -Knowing. (My iss wore this when I had morning sickness but didn't want to tell her I was PG yet. It made car journeys we took together, um.....interesting )

Hugo Boss aftershave. Just no.

Old Spice. Eugh!

Angel doesn't bother me too much, but I did work for someone once who banned us all from wearing it. Only one person owned a bottle, so she felt very victimised.

Cor I love poison but rarely wear it as I know it's mostly disliked.
I tend to spray my room with it when I'm getting ready

Sorry to say that for me it's most of them! I find they can trigger a migraine. For me the worst ever though was "Impulse" from the 80s. Urgh!
