Is there a perfume/aftershave that you can’t BEAR

Inspired by the other thread on fragrances.

What perfumes give you the boke?

Whilst not strictly a perfume, I picked up a can of Impulse ‘hint of musk’ recently and it reminded me of mothballs and net curtains - bleurgh.

Clinique aromatics

Loads: angel, poison, davidoff cool water woman and exclamation I can think of off the top of my head but there are more.

All the ones mentioned here. I only wear one which is Daisy by Marc Jacobs

Just though of another, Georgio Beverley Hills. I was working at Harrods as a teen when that was launched and it stuck to me for weeks. Utterly vile.

I also don't like the Charlotte Tilbury fragrance. Got it for nothing as DD works for the brand but my God it stunk on me.

Opium is mentioned here a few times. I wouldn't choose it for myself but it was my late Mum's favourite fragrance and was divine on her and if I ever get a whiff of it it reminds me of her and brings a tear!

Savage. One of my friends wears litres of the stuff so I would wake up after every night out smelling like it from just sitting near him. Instantly makes me feel hung over now.

Jo Malone Red Roses - it gave me a headach and made me feel sick

Dior poison- DH bought me it one Christmas years and years ago and it was just vile. Bless him I’ve trained him to buy the favourites or let me smell a few options sprayed into the tester sticks when he wants it to be a “surprise”

Angel really is not a daytime scent. I can tolerate smelling it on a night out, but it's too heavy and heady for daytime.

Very Valentino gave me such a head rush that I fainted, several chypre perfumes give me a migraine as do some musks. Jo Malone store made my eyes and nose run like a tap for several hours, no idea which particular scent set it off. Some perfumes give me an impending sense of doom, sort of like the dementors arriving, very odd.

I am very careful in what I buy and I do actually love perfume.

I can't bear Chanel no. 5. There, I said it.

I used to love angel 20 years ago - I wore it every time I went out and I always got those 'ooh, you smell amazing!' comments.

I associate that smell with smokey hair and massive hangovers so anyone wearing it now is instant 🤢

Another for Poison. But just because it smells rank. When I was a student I spent weeks thinking someone had left an unfinished kebab in our flat until i realised it was my flatmate' s girlfriend's perfume

Rouge something

Vera Wang Princess. Was very very ill after drinking a ridiculous amount many years ago and although I don't remember much of the night the smell takes me back instantly and makes me gag. It wasn't really very nice to start with to be fair but I'd ordered it online and couldn't send it back.

Clinique Happy. I used to love it but wore it through a particularly difficult period of my life and now the smell just takes me back there.
