www.johnlewis.com/kin-gathered-kimono-top-indigo/p5636902. Is this the one you mean?

Laska2Meryls · 12/07/2021 21:36

I have www.johnlewis.com/kin-denim-shirt-dress-blue/p4323134 this Kin one but regret buying it...its not really me, will probably ebay it

faustina · 12/07/2021 21:56

yes @Laska2Meryls - the gathered kimono one! The dress you linked to is quite nice - too short for my liking though

Gonegrey31 · 13/07/2021 07:55

I bought the Dick Moby Zag sunglasses in the sale and love them - they are quite light weight and therefore really comfortable.

How are you today ilovecherries? Improving I hope .

I’m ok, thanks for asking. The first dose of steroids didn’t quite have the miracle effect I was hoping for, so I had a bit of a miserable restless night but I took the second dose about 4am since I was awake anyway, and I’m starting to feel a bit better now. Just a total mess though. I actually look burned in places, although I know I’m not. Still on holiday near Wigtown, planning to wear my oldest, softest, most worn out hush sweats today and knock back piriton every four hours.
ilovecherries · 13/07/2021 08:45

@Laska2Meryls

I have that, I wear it quite a lot, but tend to wear it open over wide leg trousers and a vest.
Sooverthemill · 13/07/2021 12:53

@ilovecherries how are you doing? That sounds terrible. DD is dreadfully sensitive to chemicals and has had similar reactions. Did you see the news item today urging a VOC warning on labels for people with asthma nd allergies? Feel better soon
If anyone gets the Aster dress please feed back. It was the only thing I liked from the styling video. The young woman looks petite to me, like me, and I really liked it. I've made a load of money selling stuff on eBay and I could afford it but would love real life feedback!

I am loving my linen top which I got fairly recently

ilovecherries · 13/07/2021 14:40

I love the aster dress as well soover and had earmarked ebay funds for it but now i’m a bit anxious about buying a heavily dyed cotton dress from them.

faustina · 13/07/2021 19:57

Thanks Cherries - I might order it. Hope you continue to improve - can see why you're reluctant to order anything similar! I once bought some washing up liquid and had a similar, instant, and very violent reaction - it was decades ago but I still only buy the one with no scent or fancy things in (I seem to remember I was given quite a big lot of vouchers as an apology for that too - might be worth seeing what Toast would do?)

AuldFox · 13/07/2021 21:33

Yup definitely report to Toast @ilovecherries

dudsville · 13/07/2021 21:42

Gosh. I came on to ask a question but was shocked at your news cherries, do you think it could be clothing dye? I only ask as I had the same thing (or similar, I wouldn't say "watery", but big welts) a few weeks back and I've also been shopping at toast a lot. I'm going to trace back my purchases and see if it aligns with when mine started. If it helps, I soaked several flannels and put them in the freezer in individual plastic bags and just rotated them. 2 to a bag really held the resulting ice very well, whereas a single flannel melted quickly. I hope you recover soon. That was hell.

As for clothes, I watched the style video and agree with you all that the big denim dress is far, far too big for that woman... but I like it in the pic on the website and I'm really drawn to it. I'm a 14 but wondering about massively sizing down. I'm also annoyed at myself for wanting a pair of trousers selling full price at £170 because I usually buy in the sales when the slate color is gone. With the dress and the sometimes ridiculous clothing sizes, what's the lowest you've gone from your own size. I'm contemplating a 10.Blush

AuldFox · 13/07/2021 21:55

I dunno @dudsville I find a lot of the Toast trousers more true to size (I wear 8 in trousers, but frequently go down to 6 for dresses). 14 to 10 is a pretty big leap I’d say, unless the fit is very oversized.

dudsville · 13/07/2021 22:01

Sorry, I wasjust rabbiting on talking about the trousers, that confused matters. I'm only thinking of downsizing that dress.

neveradullmoment99 · 14/07/2021 00:22

I think you would be fine trying the 10. I'm a 12-14 but dresses I have a few small or 10's. Unless you are large 8n the bust dept, try a10!
Saurus72 · 14/07/2021 08:33

@dudsville I think trying to make sense of Toast sizing is impossible! I’m usually a size 14 in other brands. For Toast dresses I’m mostly a size 12, but I also have one dress in a size 18. The denim pinafore in the photo is very big, and I bought a size 10. I tried (but didn’t buy) rye pink dress in a size 10 at the weekend and it was still very big, an 8 would have been a better fit. I’m really trying to only buy Toast clothes in shops now, I’m so tired of ordering-returning. Good luck!

dudsville · 14/07/2021 08:39

Thanks both. It seems ridiculous to buy a 10, but I also tried the pink one above in a 12 and it was still massive so I'll give it a try, like you I'm also sick though of all the returns. Someone on the previous thread bought the pihu in her usual size and it looked fabulous but I think i'd have to get an 8 to achieve the same fit she got and JL were sold out by then. Frustrating.

Morecoobell · 14/07/2021 13:22

Hi - I'm a lurker who really appreciates this thread! I had hoped the many trials of TOAST were over, comments had seemed more positive, but I have waited over two weeks for a return to be refunded. Chased them the other day and they have just got back to me asking for proof of posting even though I forwarded their own returns / tracking link in my first email. With their ridiculously variable sizing and without the helpful reviews from other Toast customers, I am sadly going have to give Toast a miss for a (long) while. It sounds as though other people's returns are being handled ok so maybe it's just bad luck for me.

AmethystMoonShine · 14/07/2021 14:14

@Morecoobell I had to chase Toast this week as I placed an order a few weeks ago for two items. I got a dispatch email for one item which did arrive but then it all went very quiet regarding the second item. They'd taken the payment for both! I contacted them via chat yesterday and they said they'd just been told that morning by the warehouse that when they came to pack my missing item it was damaged so they haven't sent it. I was annoyed as I had to then ask for the refund to be processed - she'd already confirmed they had none in stock. I suspect the refund wouldn't have happened if I'd not contacted them, as it seems their system considered the order as fulfilled. The refund was immediate to be fair as I always pay via PayPal, but not impressed.

That is annoying. Shopping at TOAST used to be such a pleasant experience. :(

Am so gutted as their clothes are such good quality, a little bit quirky and last for ages, exactly the kind of clothes I want to spend my money on. There's always JL and Ebay, but I'd rather support TOAST directly if I could rely on them.

AmethystMoonShine · 14/07/2021 14:44

Yes definitely @Morecoobell! I’ve just come off of chat with them again. I had an order for the herringbone shirt arrive today. Then realised I’d ordered a jumper about a week before that which hadn’t arrived, nor had there been a dispatch email. They checked and said it will be dispatched soon. They didn’t seem to understand that I thought it odd later orders had arrived yet that one was still in their warehouse Hmm

Laska2Meryls · 14/07/2021 16:41

Oh gawd... I sent the Elena shirt back a couple of days ago.. so not panicked at all yet ...but I do hope that they are not having problems again....
I want to reorder it in a smaller size but thought that id wait until I had the refund for the bigger one...seems like a good move

Countmeout · 14/07/2021 17:38

I ordered Thursday and received today (although no post here Monday or Tuesday)
Not planning on testing returns. Mira jumper is great so soft just like the big scarf I bought in the winter. Might just have been able to size down but happy with it inM.
Checked cashmere dress - glad I ordered a M not one for the bustier ones of us . Think it’s ok, just had quick try on. One for the winter with tights/cardigan/jumper. Very comfortable.
I returned a jumper at the beginning of the sale and refund was quick, seems to be random. But use PayPal if you can, think that might help (clutching at straws)

@dudsville sorry I thought you were talking about trousers there!

I’m getting my returns refunded promptly now (by prompt I mean it still takes over a week but better than before!)

ToastCosILoveIt · 14/07/2021 18:21

I returned a dress late last week (Thursday I think) and was refunded yesterday. I always pay by PayPal.

The whole debacle in the last few months has put me off Toast although I do continue to buy albeit at a lesser rate. I am, however, very reluctant to buy things that have no review and none of the more recently released summer stuff does have.

However, it is good to see more clothes shown on models in the newest releases. It is so hard to envisage something on if not shown on a model.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 14/07/2021 19:32

My order arrived today, bit disappointed, when I ordered from JL everything was neatly folded on hangers, directly from Toast the clothes are crammed in the paper bag.

Anyway, the organic half sleeve tee is nice but the neckband is creased, hopefully it will iron flat otherwise I shall return it.
The Gabi trousers are much better now I’ve sized down.
The Workwear jacket in green (sale) is lovely but crumpled. The 12 is a good fit with enough room for a jumper underneath.

I’m going to return my Himari pyjamas from last week as I don’t love them enough to justify the cost - and my credit card will be relieved Grin. Although I’m hankering after the Béton Ciré rain hat Blush .
