@ScottishMouse I completely know what you mean. I’ve had bad clothes shopping habits in the past - buying far too many things with exactly the ‘I must buy this NOW’ feeling. I was always sure that my wardrobe would be complete if only I had x, y and x (and abc too 🙄). I’ve been tracking my shopping for the past few years and I’m on track to buy the fewest things in absolutely aged this year. Apart from Toast, I rarely sale shop now which really helps because it makes me consider whether I actually do need another £150 dress. I also know exactly what I wear - really good dresses that can be day to evening (well, in life before COVID) plus boots or sandals, jacket, done. The downside is I rarely take risks but I do waste far less cash.
I think the problem with me is that I do no planning what so ever. I don't even think about what I need to make my wardrobe complete. I am totally and utterly completely taken in by gorgeous things and rarely think If I 'need' another dress but buy it because I love the look or the print!!!
Then I sigh at the wardrobe full of dresses that I rarely wear.
Atm though I would like a skirt. I wont buy the cord one as it will sit in my wardrobe until it is cold. Jumpers, I have lots of and don't really like any enough.
I really don't need another dress after buying the floral aster! At least Ive worn it.

neveradullmoment99 · 31/08/2021 20:16

Has anyone tried the cotton tiered popplin skirt?
I have a thing for it but waists are a nightmare for me.
Loving the blue black one.

@ScottishMouse

I have had a bit of a realisation that I am feeling quite low at the moment, and this is fuelling some overspending (or at least over-browsing!). In the last week or two I have ordered or considered ordering a whole rake of different pieces from Toast (I blame buddycat66 🤣🤣). I don’t need any of them. I almost placed another order yesterday, but stopped myself, and by today I had gone off the idea of most of the things in my basket. Does anyone else do this?? I think I need to order RIGHT NOW in case something sells out, or because I want to have something to look forward to immediately, but when I think about it with my logical head on it seems nuts. I think I need to make a list of the things that I really do need…one winter jumper to replace a few that are now really old, an autumn into early winter jacket to replace the only one I have which is now threadbare, a shirt or two for layering under jumpers, and an everyday tote style bag that goes with everything for when I need more than just my phone and keys with me. I’m going to try really hard to stick to this list and not buy random (but beautiful) things such as indigo jerkins or smocks! As someone said earlier, this feels really hard coming into autumn, which is hands down the best clothes shopping season.
Sorry to hear this @ScottishMouse. I think what you are describing is emotional spending. We all do it to a certain extent , its lovely buying nice things but when it becomes unfulfilling or guilt/ annoyance sets it , then it can add to the hollow feeling. When I get periods of feeling low or at the change of seasons I choose 5 things to change. Today Drinking 5 glasses of water a day Try a new tea New bar of posh soap Started a new book Using a nice body moisturiser This has the effect of refreshing and resetting plus feels kind to ones self .

Start your list Smile
Thats exactly what I do, sometimes the pondering is the most enjoyable bit .

ScottishMouse · 31/08/2021 21:35

@Saurus72, it is exactly that - thinking my life will be better once I just have x or y or z. It’s never the case of course.
@TempleofZoom, I love your list idea and I will definitely try that. Thank you. Just so long as I don’t put “buy a Toast indigo smock” on it! 🤣

@ScottishMouse
Have 2 lists Smile

One for the quick short term changes and pick me ups ( cheap/ cheerful/ use what you already have) and one for the things to ponder and explore like Toast Indigo Smocks Grin

Saurus72 · 31/08/2021 22:06

I love a list 😊. I have a running list on my phone which helps me focus through the temptations. Currently on my AW list is:

 • the Harlequin dress
 • flat suede riding boots
 • a Baukjen black & white star dress
 • a couple of cashmere jumpers

It’s a short list but then I realise I need about £1000 to buy those 5 little items…

Countmeout · 01/09/2021 10:03

Yes @Laska2Meryls it’s very neat. I’ve ordered a bigger size. It’s a wonderful colour. Much smaller than the Francis tees,

Today's Toast is all about the Olive!
Ora shirt and olive linen vest top, worn with Hush khaki crops .

Toast is there any stopping us?
ilovecherries · 01/09/2021 10:29

Oh, I like that, Laska! You are looking very swish and gorgeous atm.

Laska2Meryls · 01/09/2021 10:30

Dull and chilly here again in the far South.. I did end up too warm.in yesterday's jumper though so thought I would go for layering today..
Feels like we are transitioning into Autumn a bit early.. hope not because we are taking the campervan up to Scotland in a week or so ..
Anyway today's outfit is a practice for that camping trip .. with 🤞that it wont be all heavy sweaters and waterproofs !

Laska2Meryls · 01/09/2021 10:31

@ilovecherries

Oh, I like that, Laska! You are looking very swish and gorgeous atm.
😘😘
Laska2Meryls · 01/09/2021 11:06

I must say, Toast have really got their refund process back together again.. The last two things I sent back ( Alix in wrong sizes) have both been refunded in two days..
Now all I need is them to be able to send me order acknowledgements ( which they still dont seem able to even though they can email me everything else)

AuldFox · 01/09/2021 11:18

Looking fab @Laska2Meryls I especially like the shirt worn open.

applecatchers36 · 01/09/2021 11:39

Laska2Meryls · 01/09/2021 11:52

Toast is there any stopping us?
Laska2Meryls · 01/09/2021 11:54

They also did one in ochre last year ..dont have that !🤣

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 01/09/2021 13:52

I got a catalogue! Smile
Just when I’d put my credit card away Grin .

Gonegrey31 · 01/09/2021 15:26

I had one too today , love the male yoke sweater, gorgeous colours .

faustina · 01/09/2021 15:49

Love the colours of the shirt Laska!

I also love the men's jumpers - and the donegal women's one, except I'd prefer a nicer colour

I am also eyeing up the Kate Sheridan bag (the big one)

ScottishMouse · 01/09/2021 16:58

That bag looks lovely @faustina.

My two replacement graphic yoke sweaters arrived today. Both size small, and again both quite different in size. One is about an inch shorter than the other and the sleeves of it are quite a bit wider. So I will keep the other one (despite saying last night that I was going to buy less!). Glad I ordered two more to try to get a good fit, so annoying that they vary so much.

TheChattyRat · 01/09/2021 17:27

I was wearing a check shirt today too. Anja from last year I think. I love the colours in the close up of yours laska

ToastCosILoveIt · 01/09/2021 17:41

Really enjoying the photos, everyone looks fab.

I have had a dispatch notice for my green Dora boots. I will let all you know when they arrive and if they are a keeper. My biggest worry is fit. I am a size 5 but have a dodgy left foot big toe which means i have to have a generous footbed. Solovair does tend to be generous in size so fingers crossed. Has anyone else ordered them?

ThisIsNotAGloveSong · 01/09/2021 17:51

Has anyone tried this dress, is it as nice as I hope it is?

I'm getting laughed at on another thread for wanting it.
