@ilovecherries

I had a kantha jacket about 40 years ago. I have no idea why I got rid of it - I think once I moved into grey suits and shoulder pads I thought it was unsuitable. I still think of it longingly sometimes. Mine was pinks and creams.
I did too. I can remember exactly why it went. My mum looked at and said it looked matronly and wasn’t I a bit young for that look? It went to the charity shop at the speed of light. And I’ve regretted it pretty much ever since.

I love the first one @neveradullmoment99.

Countmeout · 29/08/2021 14:42

Love that first one @neveradullmoment99 should go with a lot.
Was there not an Instagram post showing stock of various Kanthas recently, if you see one you like maybe could get it directly from the shop.

Yes, I agree. Love the first one. If I thought I could get one like that I would risk ordering one.

Adventuresat40 · 29/08/2021 15:52

Hello all, sorry to barge in on your thread but I am thinking about my first Toast purchase - this coat:
www.toa.st/products/cotton-parka-classic-navy

Has anyone got it? Is it worth the price tag? Do they ever do discount codes/ % off weekends?

I could probably make it to a store when the DC are back at school - is it best to phone ahead to check for stock? Best to buy in store rather than online?

TIA

ScottishMouse · 29/08/2021 16:17

Welcome @Adventuresat40!
I can’t help with that coat, although it is super lovely.
I would say that shopping in store can avoid having to guess at sizing, which can be a bit hit and miss with Toast. But the downside is that the stores don’t always have all the pieces in stock, or all the sizes. So yes, calling to check stock in advance would be a good idea.
They rarely, if ever, do any discounts sadly.

ScottishMouse · 29/08/2021 16:19

Great idea about the “old Toast” outfit posts. I really need inspiration and help with layering at these in between season times. I find the few weeks of spring and autumn really tricky.

Yes, the first one is a keeper I think! Its what I thought when I took it out. The turquoise was just not me although beautiful, I have never really liked that colour tbh.

OOps sorry. Linked the wrong post! Should have been this one!
Nanasueathome · 29/08/2021 16:46

Majority of my clothes are Toast and I have never paid full price
They regularly have sales with around 40-50% discount and John Lewis discount too

ScottishMouse · 29/08/2021 16:59

Ah yes @Nanasueathome, I meant discounts outside of sale times.

ScottishMouse · 29/08/2021 17:21

On the layering thing, does anyone have the indigo Cornish smock top? Only xs online, i’m wondering if (a) it is worth the £££ and (b) it is huge and an xs would fit me.
I see Margaret Howell has a similar one a little cheaper. Anyone have one of them either?

ScottishMouse · 29/08/2021 19:16

Buddycat66 is so much more stylish than me! I see her sporting the new green linen cotton jacket on Instagram. I tried it last week and it looked sloppy and nothing-y and washed me out. I want to be her!!

ilovecherries · 29/08/2021 19:29

I don’t have either sadly, mouse. I bought a (quarter of the price) dupe from seasalt one/two years ago. Mines nice, but it is very lightweight (and quite a bit shorter) in comparison to Toast. I have worn it a lot though, I like the high but loose neckline.

ilovecherries · 29/08/2021 19:32

I see she’s also got the chartreuse linen shirt in the changing room. That looked rubbish on me too. Another IG-er I like that wears a lot of Toast is Irish Girl in Glasgow.

faustina · 29/08/2021 19:36

@ScottishMouse - I have a smock from Toast but not that exact one. Mine is that lovely slate colour they do - I'll have a look tomorrow at the size for you. I bought it last summer and haven't worn it once this year. not sure why, as I really loved it. Perhaps the weather

Laska and cherries - I would love to see you both in your toast/toast-like things - please post the pics!

ScottishMouse · 29/08/2021 20:10

I’m off to look her up @ilovecherries. Sounds from her name like we have a thing or two in common!

TheChattyRat · 29/08/2021 20:20

I enjoy the toast posts too Smile good idea laska
Here are some of mine. Dungarees from 2 years ago I think and a twill dress I got on eBay. Wide leg indigo trousers from last summer (also ebay). A lot of my toast is from eBay stalking.
I also love the first kantha never

@ilovecherries, she has a great line in neckerchiefs. I love a neckerchief!

iguanadonna · 29/08/2021 22:15

@bellaiceberg @ilovecherries

I have that blue crinkle dress. The neck is high but wide - bra strap to bra strap.

It's big - I'm a solid ex-rugby 18-20 with swimmer's shoulders and 36G norkage and the xl is generous on me.

Will take a picture of it and some other purchases for reference.

Countmeout · 30/08/2021 08:54

Love seeing toast on others. Today I’m wearing this Toast dress I got on eBay. I believe it also comes in yellow which probably would have been a good colour for me. It’s nice and airey.

That dress looks absolutely ovely on you @Countmeout I too have the same dress and it's my all time favourite. I've worn it so many times and it's so easy to wear. I'm off out to lunch today - it's a toss up between that dress and the Tala.

Laska2Meryls · 30/08/2021 10:29

Ok Today I am wearing Japanese check trousers and charcoal loop back top , Steve Mono shoes , tried it with Toast checked scarf too ( all of these except top were sale items!) ..

A bit dressed up for the Co Op, Maybe? 🤣

Actually I will probably change that top for a tee....it feels a bit warm..
Definitely going to order the black boat neck tee now...Now I am 'making outfits' I can see that it would be really useful ..

Chattyrat you look great , especially love the dungarees on you...
And do love that dress Countmeout I do t recall it though is it last years?

Blossomtoes · 30/08/2021 10:36

That’s a very cool outfit @Laska2Meryls, give the Co-op a treat! Clearly I need to stalk eBay more, those dungarees look great.

applecatchers36 · 30/08/2021 11:16

Love the dress Count and the outfit Laska -perfect for a little sashay to the shops Co-op or not!
