I definitely don’t believe that anything that has just appeared is out of stock. I have been told this before by online customer services a few times, about items that just appear and immediately show as oos. They have told me that they won’t be getting any more, and lo and behold, a week or two later they are back in stock in all sizes. So I would just hang fire, it will appear shortly.

ScottishMouse · 21/08/2021 06:40

The jumpsuit looks amazing on you @ToastCosILoveIt. I ordered that and loved the top half, but at 5’1”, the bottom half was too long and overwhelming so I sadly had to send it back. Wish the top of the dress was the same shape as the jumpsuit, that didn’t work for me either.

Saurus72 · 21/08/2021 07:28

The jumpsuit is absolutely gorgeous on you, I also think the Mila dress looks brilliant on you too though. V weird about the dress and them not being able to sell you the silk scarf, I’ve now become 100% obsessed with the dress and am checking the website every day willing it to appear Confused

Countmeout · 21/08/2021 08:35

Jumpsuit is great on you @ToastCosILoveIt.
I like the dress on you too. It’s lovely to see things on real people. It helps so much.

The jumpsuit is lovely. It looks a million times better on a person than on the hanger.

Thanks for all of the nice comments, really appreciated and i feel very lucky to have picked up some nice things.

Meant to add re the Aster Floral Cotton dress: they only had an 8 in storre and assistant reckons it has sold out in shops as it is one of their promotion pictures. Tempted to buy it online. Does anyone have it and if so, what is the sizing like? I am being recommended a 12 (my true size). www.toa.st/products/aster-floral-cotton-dress-crimson

Also, the Alix Indigo Hemp trousers: i am being recommended a 12 but my other Alix trousers are a 10 and one of the reviews say they come up big. Any experience? www.toa.st/products/alix-indigo-twill-trousers-indigo

JustforToast · 21/08/2021 12:56

@ToastCosILoveIt I have the Alix Indigo Hemp trousers from a few years back. They came up big, I have an 8 and they are still v roomy.

Having said that, I tried on more recent Alix versions in other fabrics and was a 10. Confusing business

ScottishMouse · 21/08/2021 13:16

Yes, agree that Alix sizing has got smaller in recent years. Can you order two sizes to maximise your chances?

ScottishMouse · 21/08/2021 13:20

I went into my local Toast store a wee while ago and felt underwhelmed. This often happens, I see lots I like online, but in the store they either don’t have the pieces I want to see, they don’t have the right size to try, or sometimes I just find the staff a bit over helpful and chatty, when I’d rather the experience of shopping in a big anonymous store. I guess the Toast shopping experience is good if you need advice or ideas, but i don’t love that personally.
I tried the neat wool cardigan in bracken. Nice, especially the colour, but too itchy for me.
I also tried the waxed swing coat, which was what I went in there to try, but they only had bigger sizes, the smallest being probably two sizes bigger than I would need, so it was impossible to tell what it might look like in the right size. I didn’t love the colour irl though, and the fabric was much much thinner and lighter (but also less stiff) than the waxed jackets and coats in previous seasons. Not worth the price in my eyes.

faustina · 21/08/2021 14:04

@ToastCosILoveIt - what a wonderful haul! I am very tempted by the vibrant check cotton dress after seeing it on you, and what a great place to take pics - my local toast changing room is way more basic than that!

About the Alix indigo twill trousers - I bought them a month ago in a 6 and they are on the big side - pay no attention to the recommendation to size up!

ilovecherries · 21/08/2021 14:06

I find Alix completely unreliable for sizing. I think I said yesterday I have four pairs in every size from 10-16. I am at neither end of these sizes, but they all fit.

Im a real life 12 usually but often a 10 in Toast.
I tried on the Aster dress in a 10 and it fitted me really well, skimming over my waist and hips.
I do have a waist despite my age though.
For reference I got the Tala dress in a 10 but the Batik dress in a 12.

The Batik dress was a present from DH.
He had a few days away that unfortunately I couldnt join him and DS on so I got a dress instead Grin
I had ummed a bit over it but went for it and my word Im so glad I did.
It fits me so well, perfectly over the bust and no gaping under the arms.
Contrary to others reviews Im glad it isnt lined as it skims down over my waist and hips with no poofiness and is extremely flattering.
I did baulk a bit at the price but its worth every penny and the fabric is lovely.

I wish Toast did their dresses in particular styles similar to their trousers so that you know which one fits rather than a lottery of what the fit/ cut is like.

AFingerofFudge · 21/08/2021 14:40

@ToastCosILoveIt I have the Aster floral dress! I am between a size 12-14 generally but with the Aster dress I went with the 14 rather than the 12 as I am (as Laska would say) large of norkage and it just pulled a bit too much at the chest in the 12 whereas the 14 didn't swamp me and gave me room in the bust. I would have definitely gone with the 12 if I had smaller boobs.

TempleofZoom · 21/08/2021 17:48

Its raining here so I spent a nice hour patching my toast grey robe.( torn on chicken house)
Our local craft shop had some craft packs of scraps with some nice cotton prints for £1.50 so very handy.
2 metres of soft organic grey stripe cotton may also have been purchased .
Very similar feel to the toast cotton cashmere so will probably make culottes.

Gonegrey31 · 21/08/2021 18:16

TempleofZoom I completely agree about the Batik dress, it looked nothing special until I put it on and it flows so beautifully - really flattering and I only wish the weather was warmer so I can get my money’s worth !

Fingers crossed it will be better this week.

Im going to measure all the dimensions of the Batik dress for future reference.

ilovecherries · 21/08/2021 18:26

I need to send my batik dress back to JL this week if I’m not keeping it. It’s so lovely and the waist and skirt are sitting perfectly but the bodice is just a tad too loose at the sides. I see Toast are selling it full price but given I got it half price from JL (who are sold out), I can’t bring myself to buy a smaller size from Toast - and I suspect if I did, the waist would be too high anyway.

What chest size are you? Im a 32FF and it fits perfectly in a 12 . Did you look into alteration? Even with paying for the alteration it is still a bargain at half price .

Thank you for all of the helpful comments re the Alix trousers and Aster dress, will order according to advice I have been given which i think means 10 Alix and 12 Aster.

I had never looked at the Batik dress until you all started talking about it. I have the Tala dress in a 10 so assume i need a 12 in the Batik - if it ever comes up on sale at Toast....

Did you ever try on the vine print dress? The Aster dress is the same cut in a slightly lighter material (I’ve ordered the size I am in most toast dresses)
ToastCosILoveIt · 22/08/2021 09:17

@AuldFox, no, I didn't. I think i will order the 12 as I am busty and have to be careful with anything that buttons down the front. Thank you for the helpful guidance.

Countmeout · 22/08/2021 20:25

Anyone see this image on Instagram. I thought it was all terribly wearable.

Also the tiered skirt on one post looked better with the striped cotton pj shirt.

I saw the tiered skirt in store and it looked lovely. The fabric felt really good too. Plus elasticated waist!! I’m not really a skirt wearer, but that one could convince me.

Just walked past my local Toast and noticed it was shut. It is normally open on a Monday. I was also trying to get in touch with customer services this morning and their online chat was not available, and I couldn’t get through on the phone. Odd.

I just placed a misery order to cheer myself up (I know - should have tried meditating or a bit of pottery throwing but hey ho) and it all worked ok. Proof will be if it arrives tomorrow!
